- "Surprisingly good"
I really enjoyed this game. The game play was a combo of shooter and action play, some puzzle play and interactions. You had a nice selection of ways to defend yourself and I really liked the flares and flare gun. I liked that there wasn't any blood and gore but still gave the feeling of a great shooter. There were scary moments but midway through the game you expected the scary parts, so the element of fear diminished 1/4 way into the game. The artistic scenery was outstanding with great facts about Washington State and the scenic views were realistic. I enjoyed looking at the scenery as much as I liked playing the game. Alan Wake was not repetitive and had you guessing at every turn. The story line was like watching a movie while you played and mastered the players. Some of the cut scenes were a little to long for me, but otherwise I enjoyed the game.

There is a good plot here somewhere, but horrible combat and cheap scares bury it.
