Alien vs. Predator User Review
AVP attempts to be a fun brawler, but falls short.

Platform: Super Nintendo (SNES)
Alien Vs. Predator is a side-scrolling brawler that places you in the shoes of a deadly Predator. Unfortunately, it just isn't that fun to be a Predator. As the Aliens repeatedly leap at you (it seems that it's their only attack), you must punch them, causing them to fall backwards and lie on the floor for several moments before they get back up, repeating everything that just happened. The bosses are annoying as well, as they spam the same attacks left and right. Once you begin the game, you can barely tell where your enemies' and your own health bars are. It seems that the developers' decided to put your health bar aside to "P.Power" and the Aliens' next to "A.Power," but it takes a while to realize this. A major disappointment is the fact that the Predator's attacks and gadgets are limited; he can only punch and slide toward his enemies to attack. It's "weapons" are limited to some objects you can pick up off the ground: a wooden spear that you throw, some shuriken-like object that has the same purpose as the spear, and a ball that puts you into a sort of "stealth mode," which appears to cause enemies to not notice you. However, this "stealth ball" is extremely rare. Isn't stealthily killing off your prey is what being a Predator is all about?
Final Score: 6/10
AVP is a decent brawler, but gets old fast. The fact that almost every level is incredibly similar doesn't help.

For a game featuring aliens and predators, it's hard to believe how much went wrong.
