It's been over two years since I deleted and forgot about this game. But seriously? It's actually pretty good... Considerably better than A:CM, that's for sure. And it looks and runs a lot better, too. Especially in DX11 mode. Guess I wrote it off too quickly back then.

Only real problem I had with 2010 was it had criminally short campaigns with tacked on multi-player as some sort of pseudo replacement for value. What little of the campaigns they included seemed OK if memory serves until they abruptly ended.

I guess that's the problem with trying to make three separate campaigns in one game.

Play AvP2000 and AvP2
Those are the two best Aliens games.

Nah, the devs were just lazy
AvP2 had three seperate campaigns in one game and did it perfectly. All there storylines connected to one another.
You can even see your other characters in the background at certain parts of the game.

Actually, since Wedge Antilles > Carriers, and Carriers = Instant win, then it should be Wedge Antilles > Instant win. He's just that good XD -PsionicDude

True, it was decent. Looks pretty good in DX11 mode, but campaigns were short and simple (especially the level design). Actually, I had it for PC from launch but never got into the single player until last year. I finished Marine SP in the fall and started Predator SP the other day.

Predator SP makes me lol because it's literally "you'll be an ultimate badass if you can kill xenomorphs with your bare hands"
That's the actual story.

AvP and AvP 2 are obviously stellar games....which noobs like gearbaux will never be able to produce....they're a second rate hack developer anyway.
Now AvP2010 in no way is a bad game and it's way superior to ACM in every way. I think for AvP 2010 they spent too much time on the tech....hence it looks/sounds/animates really good....you can still sell it now in 2013....and DX11 stands out really good. But the SP felt like short youtube episodes.
I really hope rebellion comes back fro another AvP game.

AVP2 is a freakin fantastic game

Kind of a pain to get AVP2 to work on Windows 7, though. Once you get past that it's pretty solid. I miss the days with 8+ people on a LAN.

I imagine that it would be a bit hard to get AVP2000 to work on Windows 7, it is over 12 years old after all.
Literally expecting people to go through the hassle of a making the proper adjustments to play a game with gameplay that more than likely has not aged very well is a bit of a stretch man.
That said, I literally have not so much as seen a screenshot of the game, and I'd love to be wrong.

It takes like 5-10 mins if you know what things to download. Like a higher res and an aspect ratio fix. Oh and if you want multiplayer to work. It's easy. I recently installed it and It makes me happy inside. :3

You can buy the first AvP from Steam and it works fine on Windows 7.

For me and you and a few people on this board, yeah, maybe it's easy. But again, there are two factors.
1. Most people aren't going to be able to figure out how to set up the required adjustments, even with a step by step guide.
2. AVP2 in itself is over 12 years old. I would think that the gameplay in itself would have aged extremely poorly at this point.
Again though, I've not seen so much as screenshot, and I'm not really interested in the game enough to go spend a bit of time doing some basic research. If you honestly enjoy it, and it's not just for nostalgic reasons, then I'm happy for you, but understand that saying that a game that's over 12 years old is a great alternative is a bit of a stretch

I reinstalled it a month ago and had no issues.
Dunno what that guy a few posts above is talking about.

Ok, but again please address my other complaint.
You guys keep saying that it's great alternative to this game.
I keep asking this:
How well has the gameplay aged? it's a problem many much older games have.
How bad are the controls?
How bad is the ai?
Stuff like that.

Does it really matter that the graphics and mechanics have aged a little, if the gameplay, atmosphere and story is so right?
It's like only caring about movies from the year 2013, and saying that anything older is not worth your time. A great experience is a great experience. There is a learning curve to everything. Or adjustment curve.

I'd disagree. The alien AI is about the same. They still basically run at you.
However, the enemy pathing/scripting is phenomenally better. They placed the enemies and "scripted" them so as to appear to ambush you after crossing certain paths/markers in the game. They also "baited" you with a single scripted xenomorph to trigger the "ambush"
But once they are out, they still just run after you aimlessly. After you learn where they "appear" from, you can just kite to your hearts content in AVP2 same as A:CM. This was also the case in AVP.
Honestly, they should've stolen some of the bot AI from Left 4 dead. The bot SI in that game always ambush. Now are they great, not at all. But at least they don't just run at you stupidly, they actually work together somewhat.
The predator is pretty good AI wise however in AVP2.
Which is where I think this team went bad AI wise. Where as before previous developers used clever "tricks" to make you think the AI was smarter. This team made "most likely" a legitimately better AI, but then failed to use the tricks implemented in AVP1/2. If they had, I'd almost guarantee this game would be well recieved and rated as an alien game.
It still however would be a clunky slightly off balance FPS. But it would satisfy the fanbase it is aimed at. Alien(s) fans.

Depends which version of Windows 7 you have. 64-bit versions have issues with older games. I had to do more than just a normal install to play it.
