Aliens vs Predator for the next gen consoles is an average, mediocre first person shooter, that may satisfy your appetite for destruction and violence but not the quality one.
Here, you are able to choose from 3 different mini campaigns (that even grouping the 3 of em, dont make up for a regular one), but anyways.
You may ride along with a space marine, predator or alien.
The best one and most polished one, is the Marine's campaign, as the other 2 feel cheap and broken all the way. Although playing as an alien where you can crawl through walls, hit frantically enemies with your mighty claws, and decapitate humans with brutality may be fun, its just not enough. Same goes for the predator campaign.
As predator goes, you have a number of special abilities (cloaking, missiles, iron claws, night vision, etc) which are nice but controls are difficult to learn at first. And when you feel you have mastered them, the game finishes.
The environments in all the stories are the same, but mixed in order, so no great variety.
Graphics: they are decent. They are not bad by any means, but they could have been much much better. Alien's and marine's models look all right, but predators look quite outdated. Plus all the jungles, the ruins and the labs where you are supposed to play in, are quite mediocrely designed as well. But again, that doesnt mean they are horrible.
Gameplay: playing as a marine makes you feel you are just playing another random shooter as you could play in any other game. such as Doom 3 or Quake 4. Playing as predator is just the same but with overpowered abilities and weird weaponry.
But playing as an Alien brings a hole new concept of innovation, that sadly is not very well executed here. As i said, here you can crawl walls, walk in the ceilings, run like 3 times faster than a human and be able to perform smashing finishing moves. It sounds awesome right? well, crawling and stuff like that is a big pain, controls are very inaccurate plus the hole thing becomes confusing and useless. You end up by attacking the opponents in desperate rushes rather than tactically try to ambush them in the shadows as you are supposed to.
Sound and music: is one the best qualities of the game.
Multiplayer: sadly i didnt have the chance to test it out as there was almost no one playing the damn game. Servers were empty.
So, all in all. the game is very very short, each campaign takes like 1:30 hours to complete more or less, graphics feel kind of outdated, youll encounter lots of messy bugs here and there and being an alien is not THAT fun as it sounds.
Summing up, this game is an average shooter. If you like this types of games, then buy it. But if youre just a casual gamer that only plays quality games, you may want to pass this one out, dont even rent it, there are so much better choices in the market nowadays it may be a waste of money and time.
Cheers.

The truly horrific, brutal finishing kills are the highlight of this sporadically problematic sci-fi first-person shooter
