Today on the Spot: Part 2 of 3 showcases the Marine campaign from Aliens v.s Predator.
I think the game should be all about being scary, especially a game like this with the marine and predator campaign, thats what I loved about AVP2. If they can make both those campaigns scary, then I'm sure its going to be a hit. If its not scary, then theres no player immersion and you end up with just another shooter.
I agree littlejj. But I also think they failed to advertise it as a multiplayer demo only. When I got it from steam it just said demo. Hence I was hoping for a single player level rather than just a boring multiplayer deathmatch. But then again they did advertise that the demo does not reflect the finished product, so I'm keeping my hopes up since I thought AVP2 multiplayer was real fun.
One thing I think people need to understand about the Demo, is apparently it was the original alpha, revamped, with a couple of the final game mechanics slapped onto it, other than the primary game mechanics, this Demo is not a proper representation of how the game will play, so that could be a good thing, or a bad thing, for players, some people who like the demo, may get something different in actual release, others who hate it, will get something they can fall in love with all over again.
The demo is awesome! Very fun and all 3 species provide something different.... it was hard to find a game the only way i even played it because my friend invited me and he knew some guys....
I haven't played the demo yet but i've heard terrible things. I have AVP2 on PC, its great so i thought a next gen version would be great but to be honest i think the basic 1st person elements will become boring very quickly. maybe after 11 years, AVP is just a worn down game.
nobody was playin when i was on i want to play but when nobody is on then what? there should be a single player demo
just downloaded the demo off psn. waited for 20 minutes for a game. then, to be honest, it was the shoddiest crappiest letdown ever. unimpressed.
i really wasnt happy with the multiplayer demo but im still hoping for a great single player experience
kk umm these guys needa learn something ppl don't come on game sites to stare at the people talking about the games we want to see more off the game u kno? sometimes is good but this was way too much :/
2.5/10 Been waiting for this game a LONG time only to get this mediocre, call of duty 1 movement type game with AVP 1 (2000) restyled graphics. Utterly pathetic Rebellion and Sega are for releasing this demo in this state. Will definitely wait for reviews before buying for PS3 and PC. Very p!ssed off atm :angry: Should have known it would be like this after seeing Rebellion's last 2 games with ratings of 2/10 and 4/10, what was Sega thinking hiring these clowns?
from what I've seen so far of the demo on steam, the game is pretty good, and I might add, marines by far do not get the short end of the stick. There is some clear connection problems right now with the demo setup but they aren't supposed to be using the same code for release as they did for the demo, so should be a completely different menu setup, and Internet play, with servers and everything, not the quick connect. Each race has its strengths as said, but it almost feels a bit rock paper scissors, I know that sounds weird, but it seems the predators have almost no chance against a marine unless they stealth kill, running at them, and even trying to gun war with them, is pretty much asking to get killed, where as Aliens, pretty much kick marines asses, stealth killing them easily, as well as being able to quickly get on them and take them out in just a few hits, if done right that is. Predators on the other hand kick Alien ass, since most Aliens require to get in close quarters with their kills, and the predators ability to see them with Alien vision, allows for almost no stealth, and since the Predators master in melee fights, they easily overpower the Aliens and kill them in just a few quick swipes. Now this isn't to say that a Marine cant kill a Alien at all, or a Predator cant kill a marine, I'm just pointing out that it seems that each race fairs better against another particular race than the other, just an observation. One little issue id also like to point out that I have seen, is that they chose to use a death match game type for the demo, not to say that death match isn't fun from time to time, but for this game, it was a terrible choice for a demo.
I had a choice to pre-order this game or Bioshock 2 and i chose AVP, the mulitplayer demo on 360 is awesome me and my buddy cant stop playing.
Man will shine through, alien players will not have the displine to stand still and ambush the humans like in the movies. The bugs have no armor, the preds need to take advantage of this chaos or they will get nailed by the motion trackers and smart guns which track ur movements as well
is this a contest to see who can sound the most feminine AND the dumbest at the same time that we don't know about? not much of a demo in there really is there? losing faith in this website, it's going downhill FAST.

i won a game as a marine a moment ago, 30 kills baby! and and the cod boys were moaning that i was spraying! your a predator!! use your cloak!!!!
I KNEW THIS GAME WAS GOING TO SUCK! It's so cheap! You can't even move without some cheap player grabbing you. This game will get boring in an hour. Certainly, won't be buying this waste of crap. I knew that if Sega was involved it would be crap. All you MW 2 freaks and Halo freaks might like it. It's just button mashing and as soon as you spawn you practically die. I hate games like this. LAME!
This reminds me of doom 3 on xbox hoping for a similare experiance from this campain cause that would be great.
OK! Finally I can comment on some real AvP action :D I see that the creepy radar/sonar is still intact, and the environment is dark like the other titles. With some astonishing graphics to portrait aliens like we've never seen before, I say that this is going to be a hell of an experience:)

the funny thing is this has nothing to do with avp imagine if he said balls lol get your hands on some monkey balls
I hope you can retract your wrist blades when playing as a predator. Otherwise it might feel a little clunky to always have them out.
I was hoping they would fix this eventually, but it remains a gamespot fail.... and i hate monkeys, especially when they are rolling around....
Those monkeys... The only race to defeat the Predators... Vengeance! That impenetrable ball, the lasers, the banana's, the terror!
