I end up buying these games everytime, all the way back to operation flashpoint and i just don't get it. I really want to but I must be missing something. The shooting is decent when you actually get into a fight but for me nothing seems to actually work correctly. I remember on Arma 2 i spent hours trying to get the helicopter to land on the helipad in the camp to pick me to take me to the next nav point, everytime it either landed in the sea, landed on a roof, basically landed anywhere other than where i told it to and it just crashed and blew up everytime ****ing time. People always say you have to learn how to play it but I consider myself a half intelligent human being who's been playing games for 30 years and I can't see how if you use the command to tell it to land and even specify where it lands and then it decides to do something completely different what else you're supposed to do. Most bugged frustrating game in the world, made more frustrating as the few moments where it all seems to work correctly are really good. I did seem to spend alot of time wandering around not totally sure whether i'm doing it wrong or the game has cocked up again and the next bit hasn't triggered.Maybe I should have played the multiplayer. Hope this version is a bit more 'polished'. Then again I havn't touched arma 2 for a few years, anyone know if it has been patched to a playable state on the single player campaign I really fancy another crack at it?

Check out a teaser trailer for Arma III, due out later this year.
5000 dollar computers? are you kidding me?...i ran arma 2 pretty maxed out and and smooth gameplay on a computer i built for 1100 bucks....you obviously cant build or buy a quality system. my current system i built for about 1500 will be able to run arma 3 no problem.
People who say a $5000 computer can't run Arma 2 must be outside their mind.. My old 5870 and phenom 925 almost maxed out Arma 2. My new system (2600k, 7970, 8gb hyperx) easily maxes out the game. That system cost me $1400. And now that the 680 is out, it will be even easier. The only thing with the 680 is, it's just for games...no compute power what-so-ever. The 560 even beats it. Anyways, Arma 3 will be awesome and no, you don't need a second mortgage to max it out.
Had Arma II for a while and never got the hang of it so of course I hated it. Now I finally went back to it and understood it and my anticipation for this is through the roof. Also it is graphically the best looking game I have ever seen
Bohemia Interactive, imo the secret kings of first person military sim-shooters. Never got around to the Arma series after OP Flashpoint somehow. But i finally bought the ArmA X anniversary edition and am having a blast now. Yeah, it can be daunting, but once you get your head around it it's enormously rewarding. I reckon i won't be done with ArmA X by Q3, but it's great to know there's more once i am. ;) I just hope they don't cave in to the ever popular "streamlining" and "accessibility" trend and stay as true to the prequels as possible !
facepalms at all the people trying to compare it to BF, BF is awesome but arma is supposed to be a realistic tactical shooter, you will be driving a hummer over the dusty roads for about 10 min before you encounter anything its suposed to be a completely different pace/genre even
@X-7 The complication makes the game unique, and I think Arma provides a different kind of shooter experience in comparison to BF3. I think the two games should stay entirely separate.
These games are way too overly complicated, at least they have good graphics. Someone needs to make a less complicated version of this that is somewhere between this and BF3.
I just hope they optimize it well, got a killer pc that run skyrim\witcher 2 on max but barely run ARMA II
I hope they spent some time on the CPU optimization. ARMA 2 is great, but it runs pretty crappy, even on $5,000 PCs. For a game in which accuracy, realism and micro-seconds & timings are so important, choppy fps completely ruins it.
I hope thats not the majority of the landmass... It was looking pretty good, then they zoom out to some arbitrary altitude that doesn't really show much of anything, except maybe an observatory off to the right there.
Looks like Battlefield 3 !!! naah im just kidding,nothing looks like Battlefield 3 >>> BF3 FTW!!! 4Ever
