Gelugon_baat Posted Sep 16, 2011 4:30 am GMT I do hope that the droning noise that tells the player which direction enemies are at can be turned off. this a million times over. i'm nitpicky and this would make me not buy this game until its in the bargain bin. the utter chaos of the gameplay and the frantic 'shoot the general direction of the enemy till its dead' gameplay i'm seeing is making me unsure, but still looking into it. curious. it has potential.

I believe that Armored Core as a franchise needs a different sort of departure than in gameplay. In my case, the return of the Target Box is welcome, but that might be nostalgia talking. What I believe the franchise needs is a context change, not just in story, but how the game is played through, and AC5 seems to be doing that. Almost invariably AC was "get hired, undertake mission, shoot stuff, ???, profit" and then customize. This multiplayer battleground business suddenly makes you part of a whole as opposed to a lone wolf, which is something I think AC needed more than a control/gameplay/gunplay change.

I want to see a fresh and updated AC game, but to me this really doesn't look much different from AC4. Japanese developers have some great franchises, it just seems they have no interest in changing things up. You'd think in the 4 years since the first AC4 they would step up a generation in visuals and build a more refined play style, even the stagnant Cod franchise is making more change (if so small) in yearly releases.
