Assassin's Creed III: The Tyranny of King Washington - The Infamy has finally been released. For one, I was surprised to see that this was only the first episode in an unknown number of episodes. Maybe I missed something along the way, but I had no idea this was the case.
If I had known, I would have waited until they were all released and then played the game. Nothing breaks up a great story like having to wait for more content to be released. That's the first disappointment of many to follow with the new DLC.
You awake as Connor (I can't spell his Native American name) and are in some kind of alternate reality where only he is aware of the difference. Now, I assumed that this was simply an alternative reality where things had played out differently. Instead, we're lead to believe that Connor is suddenly thrust into an alternate reality with the knowledge of the entire AC3 game under his belt. As if the story weren't already pretty thin to begin with, now we're dealing with alternate universes. Seems pretty stupid to me. Blame the Apple of Eden maybe?
Anyway, you begin some easy quests to get you re-acclimated to the game, since I'm sure once everyone beat this pile of garbage, they vowed to not pick it up again for a long time.
So you run around with your now ALIVE mother, doing missions, when suddenly you're hit with some old school Native American tribal nonsense. Climb this tree and brew tee with the leaves and you will become invisible and gain the ability to summon ghost dogs that will kill your enemies for you.
::FACEPALM:: This has got to be the DUMBEST thing I have ever seen. I understand I said the game's plot and story were already thin, but let's look at the focus on the 1700's era. Looking at the realism, the history, the seemingly believable abilities available to someone living in that time, becoming INVISIBLE and summoning GHOST WOLVES was not one of them. This ability allows you to basically run amok and kill people at will while not being detected at the cost of your life until you can find a spot to rest or go stealth and regain it all.
This ruins the challenge and fun of being a stealthy killer in AC3. Sure, it was no Hitman, but it gave you the same options. Go in guns--- or in this case, Tomahawks blazing, or go stealth and get the full synchronization. Now, it's just a matter of killing a few guards in Stealth/Wolf mode, rest in some bushes, wait for the other idiot guards to come investigate the dead bodies, pop out in Stealth/Wolf mode... rinse, repeat until the area is clear.
No challenge, no skill, no fun.
The first episode can be completed within 90 minutes, and once you're done with it, you'll be annoyed you have to wait for the next episode. What was the point of drawing out a DLC for one of the most disappointing games of 2012? You've already made me HATE the AC series by spitting out mediocre crap ever since AC2, and like a fanboy tool, I bought them... but now, Ubisoft is just twisting the slow knife they've lodged in everyone's back with AC3s horrible ending and glitchy game with this easy, stupid, DLC.
Avoid this DLC for now. Buy it when it gets reduced in price after all the episodes have been released. By the time the next one comes out, I'll have forgotten the story thus far, and as subsequent episodes are released, I'll definitely fail to remember how this retarded alternate universe even began.
Ubisoft is just failing on all cylinders here, and it started with AC3.

The much awaited AC3 DLC disappoints by bringing unrealistic gameplay to an already paper thin universe.
