Your thoughts on main character?

hey i was wondering what you guys thought of the main character connor. ive been playing the hell out of AC3 recently and im on about sequence 9. great game, enjoying it so far. but i gotta say, this guy is probably the worst main character in AC. sure he still looks cool and is awesome and free running/fighting, but the guy is just so boring.
its like hes a robot or something i dont know what they were thinking with the voice actor. its like he has no personality, just states the obvious all the time. what happened to epic characters like Ezio and Altair? now those were assassins. Ezio always had epic one liners and a personality/voice which made him very memorable. And even Altair (im one of the few who actually enjoyed AC1). this connor guy seems so bland.
now i will say this, the Haytham sequences in the beginning were awesome. he seems like a much more appealing character, i would love to see like a DLC or something for him telling his story. i think they wouldve been better off making him the main character. he seemed more assassin-like, reminded me a bit of Ezio.
i dunno. great game so far (minus the main character and crap load of glitches). just think they really screwed up with the main character. i mean i get that hes like a noble guy and all that, but doesnt mean he should be like a robot man they really needed more personality and character development with connor. what do you guys think?

It wasn't until Revelations that I saw more of his character. Ezio's character is the best by far. He had so much personality in all the games. As for Connor, I think Ubisoft intentionally made him a noble/tough character. Watching his mother/village burn, not having a relationship with his father, and having a revenge towards the Templars made his character. I think Ubisoft wanted to show charcter variety. Connor, Ezio, and Altair all have different personalities which is good. The voice actor for Connor was okay. Some parts he did well and others didn't really fit. I love Connor's story and I'm pretty sure we will see him again, hopefully Ubi shows more variety in his character. But all this is just my opinion.

... I think he just needed a lady in his life
;) Notice that? He didn't really have a ... female relationship like Altair had, and Ezio. With.. many women, haha. But that's what made it fun! Those were some awesome ladies.

Yea it felt like he didnt have any personality, i mean even if you try to make him noble that doesnt mean you should make him act like a robot. No emotions or personality. it was hard to see if he was mad/sad or just smiling lol
And his assassins backstory was kinda meh to be honest compared to altaļrs climbing in ranks in with the order and ezio's family connections and building an order. Connor kinda went to guy trained with him a bit and all of a sudden he's a master assassin recruiting underlings and stuff like that. It took ezio like 30 years with connections to start building a brotherhood.
At the end of the game connor still had no connection to the assassin brotherood exept for achilles and you know how that turned out.

Connor doesn't deserve the Assassin robes he's too much of an ingrate and a know it all. He annoyed me more than anything, and lacks what it takes to be an assassin...after what we saw Altair and Ezio go through

well connor was a great character for me, for a change i love a native american donning the robes than a random white guy, i love altair and ezio too
connor was hardened by his mothers loss, dads revenge and ya ubisoft didnt give him a lady interest a s yet in order to show his toughness

Ezio and Altair were great characters. They had personality, charm and dynamic with other characters that made you want to flip through the chapters of their stories. That is why starting off with Haytham was so appealing. His approach and demeanor is familiar to what we are used to with Ezio and Altair. His character reminded us of the allure of playing a character that carried out missions with stealth and precision. We liked him and established an early respect for him, even though we all found out who he was.
That is why a big part of me believes that Ubisoft deliberately tried to make Connor a different kind of character and assassin. Unlike his predecessors, there's nothing romantic about him. His cause is as generic as any, and with how it was introduced in the game, I found it hard to immediately support, sympathize or relate to him as a protagonist.
There are times where I find that I had to will myself to stay in the animus and I looked forward to the times when I didn't have to be. Having such a flat main character made me feel like I'm playing the game just to go through the motion of completing tasks, as opposed to achieving objectives to further the storyline.

I think the part was written well, but it is just bad voice acting. On the other hand, I think it would be really hard to get a proper actor to play Connor, and here is why. In the beginning of the game there are a lot of parts which are spoken in Mohawk. How many people in the world even speak Mohawk? A VERY small number. So, to get that accurate, you have a limited pool of people. I doubt many Mohawks on the reservation (the only place people still speak it) ever go to acting lessons. So while Connor is kind of boring, I do htink it is worth the tradeoff for accurate Native American language.

Um are you forgetting that Altair lost his rank and had to start climbing the assassin ranks because he thought himself BETTER then all the other assassins? And let's not forget that before seeing his father and brothers die Ezio was cocky as all hell. Altair only became the assassin you love because he was punished for his action and Ezio changed because he lost some of his family. Yes I will agree with you that Connor could've used a little more life breathed into him but he wasn't all bad. Besides guys he was a native american. Connor most likely never interacted with people outside his village so he won't have the social skills most do. Add to that the pain of losing his mother in a fire and his trust issuses. Though if you look back to before he trains you will noticed he does show his emotions better then he does after getting the robes.
Each assassin we've played showed at one point or another that they don't deserve the robes. But in the end they are only human like the rest of us and there for you have to expect them to have their flaws.
I am going to hear some heck for this aren't I?
