- "Almost, but not quite"
The latest installment of the Assassins Creed franchise has a lot going for it, a new ancestor, a new setting, and new play mechanics. AC3 continues the story of Desmond and his never ending quest of fighting the templars. Instead of playing as Altair or Ezio players play a new kind of character, Connor. While Connor seems like a more hardcore and brutal character he isn't as mature as Altair or charming like Ezio, while this certainly isn't a bad thing, it just makes you feel less sympathetic towards Connor and his story arc, also it doesn't help that I have a younger brother named Connor, so every time I hear the name Connor in the game, I think of my brother.
While I wont get into the story for sake of spoiling it, I will tell you that I found it very thrilling up until the end. The same goes for Desmond's story arc. Now its not a Mass Effect 3 sort of ending, it still feels poorly written. Through the game you play as the early years as Connor, but it takes you around 5-6 hours to play the adult Connor. The gameplay mechanics are more precise and and accurate in previous games, as well as the combat, with the addition of new weapons like the rope darts. With some of these good controls also come flaws. Like previous Assassins Creed games, the parkour can be a bit frustrating when you run in the opposite direction. Also throughout the game there are many, and I mean MANY glitch's. Almost to the point that you need a huge update.
The multiplaayer is just as fun as previous Assassins games, except there is a new addition called Wolfpack, in which you and another player hunt out assigned targets,
Assassins Creed III is a solid game, and my review is going to be more generous than I want to give it . There are many good gameplay aspects in this game, as well as more collectables and side-missions if you enjoy that sort of thing. Overall if you are a fan of the Assassins Creed franchise then I suggest picking it up. But if you are just starting the series I suggest that you either rent the game first, or pick up the first game to see if you like it.

A triumphant return for one of my favorite franchises in gaming held back by baffling steps backward.

Could only make it 8 hours into the game before I got completely bored out of my mind.
