Some of the other reviews on here fault AC3 for not doing anything new. That is absolutely ridiculous. AC3 has battleships, which was one of the funnest things I've done in a game for a long time. I remember back in the day there was a Playstation 2 game that was all about battleships; I think it was actually called battleships or something similar. No game has open sea warfare in it for quite some time and I highly respect AC3 for putting that into their game. Another thing I really enjoyed about AC3 is it was about the civil war, which made me realize no other game (that i can think of atleast) has covered the civil war. That was the other thing that made it unique. And to play as a Native American during that time is a brilliant idea.
The tomahawk was my favorite weapon in the AC series thus far, with awesome counter actions and kills. I love the addition of tree travel, especially in the city where you can go from building, to tree, to building. The last thing that was new and impressive was the hunting aspect. being able to set traps and skin animals and sell the stuff.
The only negative I have to say is that it was too easy, but all ACs are easy. All you need to ever do is counter-kill everyone and sneak. The only difficult things are getting full synchronization, which should only be a replay value aspect, not the only thing that makes the game difficult. The only other thing was I didn't feel like Connor's story had any first civilization story in it. I felt like the only first civilization parts in his story were forced because they knew they had to.

Why isn't Assassin's Creed 3 as fun as I remember the previous games being?

This is more of a mixed bag than the other games in the series. It has some great parts, but also has some not so great
