- Apr 18, 2012 3:28 am GMTNo video for these yet, but there will be if enough people request demonstrations, in which case I'll bump the thread with a link. I'm also waiting on someone to finish a new intro for my youtube stuff. Any tip with DONE next to it means I already have a demonstration with commentary completed in a video project.
DEFENSIVE TRICKS:
Corner-Catching: DONE This one mainly applies to FFA games, but it can be used in other gametypes as well.
Walk around a corner and wait a moment with the camera turned around the corner you just walked past while you "hug" the wall. If your pursuer is there, they will run forward and be completely surprised if you turn around, pop up around the corner, and stun them.
~NOTE~ As a pursuer, NEVER dash to your target when they go around a wall, because if they use this trick, you will blow your cover. ONLY enter high-profile if you have a lock on your target and you see them moving all the way out from the corner, which means they're not watching you from around the wall.
Backup-Morphing: DONE Can be applied to all gametypes. Works best in Manhunt and Steal the Artifact.
When using morph in a mobile group, wait until your group brushes up against a standing group in a location you think is solid, and press the morph button. You will morph the group you're standing in AND a few members of the stationary group, creating a "backup group" for you to hide in if your cover is blown, you get a stun and have to run off, etc.
~NOTE~ This technique can also be done to two mobile groups passing eachother to give your teammate his own group to hide in, or two stationary groups that are VERY close to eachother to give you even more effective cover.
The Dummy Mine: Can be applied to all gametypes.
Find a stationary group close to a hay/flower bale. Place a Tripwire Bomb in front of the hay bale in an obvious position, and hide in the group, preferably closest to the hay bale to mess with their compass. If your pursuers pay attention, they will think your persona is a dummy and that their target is waiting in that hay bale if they spot the mine. While they attempt all kinds of fancy footwork to get around it, they will be completely unprepared for the "NPC" next to them hitting them in the face. If they DON'T pay attention and hay bale check, they'll still walk into it for your stun anyway, depending on your placement.
~NOTE~ This trick adds even more hilarity in Manhunt if the pursuer does not set off the mine, gets stunned, gets up, and runs straight into it after being goaded by the tricky target just to get stunned again.

XBL GT: ReptileAssassin. Fighting game specialist - Apr 18, 2012 3:27 am GMTOFFENSIVE TRICKS:
Backstabber: DONE Applicable in many gametypes, but works best in Wanted.
If you and your target are walking toward eachother, slightly edge away from them as if you're cautious of them being your pursuer. The target will likely ignore you as you stay out of kill/stun range. If they purposely edge toward you to B check, kill them immediately when they get in range. Once you pass them, turn around and follow them. By that point you will have likely built up an Incognito bonus, and if you're lucky, a Focus.
Fickle Body, Fickle Mind: Mainly applied in FFA gametypes.
This is an interesting Poison trick. Score a poison on your target. If they fail to stun you, sometimes they will simply stand there or follow you waiting to die. This is your opportunity to build up Focus (assuming you have placed less than two crafting points in delay) and Hidden Bonuses in addition to a higher detection bonus, and intercept your own Poison for MORE points. After all, you'll be able to get another Poison kill later, but how often can you get Focus or Hidden bonuses without depending on Smoke Bombs? This is an excellent way to achieve a higher Variety bonus and get two troublesome bonuses out of the way.
Mass Decoy: Only truly useable in Manhunt. Works exceptionally well combined with Disguise.
If your target is hiding in an area with two entrances fairly close to eacchother, you can use Morph offensively. That's right...Morph. Here's how: Wait around a corner with an eye on your target until you can find a mobile group headed in their direction. Morph that group, then run all the way around to the other entrance, wait a few seconds, use a Disguise (if you have one), and then move toward your target. One of three things will happen:
1. They will not move or react to the group (hoping for a Lure) but their attention will still be diverted from you,
2. Someone will get spooked by the group and run straight into you,
3. Someone will take notice of you and you are in the same situation as simply walking in.

XBL GT: ReptileAssassin. Fighting game specialist - Apr 18, 2012 7:20 am GMTThere's one I like to do. I find a group next to a haystack and I morph them and hide in the hay stack and pop up and stun in the confusion.
If you've identified your target hiding in a stationary blend spot. Wait for incognito, smoke bomb them,'go into the blend spot with them and wait for the focus and then kill them. A little patience can turn a kill of 150 into a 800+ point kill.
If you happen to be running next to another agent seemingly heading towards your target do not try to beat them, instead smoke bomb them when they are close tongue target to trap them for a poach bonus and secure the kill for yourself.
In wanted more often than not if you are in first place you will get 3 pursuers that are most likely the 3 behind you on the scoreboard. You can bleed the game clock by running them all over the map unable to kill you And close the gap in points or trap them into stuns and chases screwing them out of any good points for a kill
Always switch up yor skill set and strategy to get the variety bonuses they can seal the top spot if you've been saving a hidden gun kill till the last minute to win the game.

I'd be honored.
Also Jman, many of the ones you just listed are common tricks, and the ones that aren't simply just aren't useful.

I could have been a lot more nasty about it, but I replied honestly and neutrally.
But since you want to get your panties in a bunch over it, let me give you the rough version.
There's one I like to do. I find a group next to a haystack and I morph them and hide in the hay stack and pop up and stun in the confusion. (This is quite useless if your pursuer has any idea what they're doing, as they ALWAYS know to check the hay first. This trick only works on complete morons)
If you've identified your target hiding in a stationary blend spot. Wait for incognito, smoke bomb them,'go into the blend spot with them and wait for the focus and then kill them. A little patience can turn a kill of 150 into a 800+ point kill. (Cool, you just told us how literally everyone in need of a crutch for good kills uses Broke Bomb.)
If you happen to be running next to another agent seemingly heading towards your target do not try to beat them, instead smoke bomb them when they are close tongue target to trap them for a poach bonus and secure the kill for yourself. (You're suggesting to rush at a target that can see two people gunning for them, throw your broke bomb down, and hope the target has no defensive abilities for a crappy 200 point kill? Awesome tip! Also, wtf does tongue target mean?)
In wanted more often than not if you are in first place you will get 3 pursuers that are most likely the 3 behind you on the scoreboard. You can bleed the game clock by running them all over the map unable to kill you And close the gap in points or trap them into stuns and chases screwing them out of any good points for a kill (This is called being an ass and is frowned upon by every competent player.)
Always switch up yor skill set and strategy to get the variety bonuses they can seal the top spot if you've been saving a hidden gun kill till the last minute to win the game.(This is completely basic and DUH worthy.)

I suppose I should post some more stuff on youtube, although I'm only getting around 30 views per video. But I'll go ahead and do some more, I could use the commentating practice and it can be used to help people improve anyway.

XBL GT: ReptileAssassin. Fighting game specialist - Apr 18, 2012 4:52 pm GMTOh believe me i did the "polite" version as well but if you want to go that route we can do that.

(this is very similar to the first one I posted that you criticized about, mines simpler and mor defective. Not a sigle tosser would get distracted by the mine and think you are in the haystack while convieniently there's a morphed group next to it)

GT: James Upton - Apr 18, 2012 5:31 pm GMT(any moron can figure this out and is the most common tactic listed in tho topic)
Apparently not, because I'm able to pull off at least 4 naked corner stuns in every game I play.
(this is completely useless, a because if your cover is blown... Guess what they're gonna see you waltz right into your back up and have you locked. And there's also a perk that does this without wasting an ability)
You're not thinking. Moving group walks by a standing group. You morph and affect both. Your moving group walks off somewhere. Stuff happens, and you run all the way back to the standing group. Blend in. Voila. And Blender only changes one NPC, this trick almost always affects two or more
(this is very similar to the first one I posted that you criticized about, mines simpler and mor defective. Not a sigle tosser would get distracted by the mine and think you are in the haystack while convieniently there's a morphed group next to it)
Yes, your method is indeed more defective. It's also not even close to my trick. You are saying to morph a group near hay, hide in hay, pop out and stun. This is extremely common already and much more prone to failure since people expect it. I'm saying to place a trip mine in front of a hay bale, hide near it (not even requiring morph, usually) and using the mine to play mind games and/or get one or more stuns.

XBL GT: ReptileAssassin. Fighting game specialist - Apr 18, 2012 5:56 pm GMTWe can stand here and bicker all day, or we can just admit that the both of us have provided good tips that serve towards the goal to winning in any match in this game. Outsmarting players. By any moron I meant any moron can figure out to hug a corner to supris a careless pursuer and quite honestly it never works on me. Because I always have my target locked before an approach. And more often than not the hay trick usually does work. Especially if it's tucked in a corner and you have multiple copies both in the group next to it and on the near by bench etc etc. As for running around a map, you call it being an ass. I call it outsmarting them. If I can successfully evade three active pursues that are to stupid counter it with the hidden gun like I do. Then I deserve deserve the lead. And for the "broke bomb" the target can have it to. It's because 100% of the time a target is blending it is because he is on the defensive and looking for you. You see broke bomb, I see an easy target for 1000 points. 1/3 of the time I do it I get smoke bombed or muted. So it isn't perfect but it provides one thing, massive result.
Common would be "smoke and poison every target" and "act like a npc instead of running like a moron"
You got some good tips, but the weakest one is your dummy mine for only 200 points with a massive risk for failure as a lone clone. Why bother when you can just have charge or mute in your ability set and have a 100% guaranty stun vs one that's liable to how oblivious or stupid your pursuer is. Other than that yes I generally agree you submitted some good tips.
