What do you think the most interesting class/race combo is?

Im trying to decide on a class/race combo that provides an exciting combo.

By that I don't want to gimp myself on purpose or play something completely OP.
I want to play something 'Different' or a role that standard NPC wont usually be able to fill.

There are 28 NPCs. I don't think there is a role out there they don't already cover.

Generally people seem to think Mages/Sorcerers and Monks are the most fun to play with, though Kensai has a fair following.

Go and roll yourself a Skald or Jester. You will have plenty of fun.

Bard's are usually one of the most fun classes in these kind of games, I myself rolled a Blade when I started the EE, enjoying it more than anything else during the lower levels BG1 provides.

I enjoy fighter/mage, can pull off some stuff neither class can do when pure. Rough start but starting to get really fun, still only 4/4

Fighter/mage is my favourite class of the moment, really versatile.

I greatly enjoy Sorcerer. Although in BG1 they don't have time to get really powerful, so you might not enjoy them as much.

Archer is actually pretty fun. It's safe, and they do crazy damage with no fear of dying.

This. Sorcerer is my favorite class, to the point where I miss it every time I am not playing as one. I really wish they added a Sorceror NPC into the game so I could try out other things. I would also love to try an Archer, but haven't gotten around to it.

Also, when I played Tutu a while back, I played as a Cavalier, which was RIDICULOUSLY useful in the first game due to his fear and poison immunities. He can also cast Remove Fear once per day per level, which again is super useful in BG1 when most party members are prone to running when they are almost dead. Fire and Acid resistance, bonuses against demons and dragons... The only downside is inability to use missile weapons, but you'll want this guy on the front-lines with the Holy Avenger sword (in the second game) anyway.

I've never played a sorcerer but I want to start one now. Anyone have any tips? I had heard a while back that Sorcerers are built weird because they dont need intelligence or anything. So you build them with like constitution or something. Is this right?

You still want as high wisdom as possible if you will be using wish (Which you should be using).

So 18 WIS, 16+ CON, preferable as high dex as possible too.

Int does absolutely nothing for sorcerors except add to a couple of dialogue options here and there.
