I bought the game, but I never was that good at it, and everyone who plays it is a complete expert it seems. With this in mind, premium wouldn't have ever been worth it to me. I am much happier with Halo's season pass for under $30.

The dlcs are not worth it at all too me. The primary reason being is...once those servers go offline (that WE have to pay for now btw) the dlc will be completely inaccessible because there are no bots or anything. So eventually you'll have purchased over $100 for a campaign.

@sharpshooter188The 300+ hours I've already played treated me pretty well without having to worry about whether I could play another 300. Do you want to play the same game forever and ever?

@anvilone @sharpshooter188 games have contracts to stay online for a long amount of years. i think ps3 is supported till something like 2020 so i wouldnt worry about it im sure by 2020 youll have a family to worry about and not bf3

I purchased a full game with all DLC for a total of 60$

The way it should be.

For me, premium was worth every penny and I'm still enjoying BF3 to this day.

still have no expansions.  Sorry, you are not grabbing another dime from me after the first game.  I had enough of buying expansions and getting 1-2 more stupid things.

anvilone

@jthotty The expansions, by and large, were far better than you imagine. You got much more than "1-2 more stupid things."

Basically paying 110 per game yeah lets make that the new standard! I like paying $110 then the next game comes out not even a year later. I would probably enjoy Premium but the price turned me off. Heck got MOH:Warfighter for 30$ and that is a full game.

anvilone
anvilone moderatorstaff

@106473Battlefield has always charged for expansions and they've almost always been worth it. Also, it's been two years between Battlefield titles. MoH had its merits, but you shouldn't compare a discounted title to full price. During our live stream of End Game people were saying Premium has dropped significantly in price. If you don't mind getting a game WAY after it's released, everything will be less than $110.

MelodicMizery
MelodicMizery

@anvilone @106473 they gave away a few free maps in bad company and said they promised they wouldnt charge for future dlc. but that promise didnt last lol

I would definitely pay for Premium again.  The way I see it is that Battlefield is a unique FPS in that there is not another game out that is quite like it.  Others have tried but failed..  Some of the criticism that they have received is deserved, some not... but you cannot deny that at the end of the day the game is a hell of a lot of fun.

With that said, I just wish that they would be a little more dynamic in the game modes... i.e. maybe add a couple capture points to the CTF maps.  Maybe instead of flags give each team MCOM's to defend and throw in some capture points.

anvilone
anvilone moderatorstaff like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 2 Like

@Chrypt22 I've always thought, what with server rentals, they should give Admin the ability to adjust objective placement/number of capture points. Given the size of the maps, there's no reason why CQ shouldn't take place in different areas, or that flags couldn't be moved around.

I would definitely pay another $110 for BF4. And I'm not crossing fingers for it to be rushed and announced at E3. They should give BF3 time and start producing BF4 so that the release would be similar as BF3's in relation to BF2. They could release Bad Company 3 in the middle, since they left the story hanging, on purpose and wisely.

hawaiian8
hawaiian8 like.author.displayName like.author.displayName 2 Like

Battlefield 4 is going to be Battlefield 4132, the future.

and i would be willing to pay $80 upfront, one time, for premium if it came out on the initial game launch day.

jocaju
jocaju like.author.displayName 1 Like

You guys kept saying $60, but the Premium was $50, but yeah, I would pay another FIFTY for those kind of expansions on BF4. I just hope the next game after BF4 is Bad Company 3.

just wondering *noob question* if i buy End game as a stand alone download  it will alow me to play servers that plays on end game  or do i need Premium?? hopefully this makes sense lol

GamerOuTLaWz
GamerOuTLaWz

@Danny_KickAzz BUT, be warry that many if not most of these End game servers will actually be Premium servers and that means you'll still be locked out of those servers and unable to play on them. This happened to alot of people and disapointed alot of people who bought previous DLCs as standalone. Id suggest you wait a month or so for a cut on Premiums price once all DLCs are officially out.

AirDog80

@Danny_KickAzz You will be able to purchase and play End Game without premium around two weeks after launch on whatever console or system you own.

End Game is out for Xbox, Multiplayer Update 6 is on the marketplace but you can only download End Game from the actual BF3 store in the game's main menu (only if you have premium). HAPPY HUNTING!

battlefield 4 could be based in the 2142 universe... be interesting to see what it is, but i wont be buying i dont think, i cannot seriously see how it can be THAT much better then what BF3 has to offer... like to see it at E3 though.. I can however see DICE bringing back the level of destruction that was in Bad Company 2 to BF4, I think that is almost a given at this point

dalua360
dalua360

@vackillers Let's discuss this: [quote]  "i cannot seriously see how it can be THAT much better then what BF3 has to offer"...

I think that BF4 could improve the destruction system, making literally EVERYTHING to be destructible, and when I say "destructible" I mean that each part of the environment has to be affected by real physics, so, when you destroy the same building several times in different situations, it won't ever fall the same way! That means you will always apply force to one specific point and the physics will react accordingly. It's totally different than what we have on BF3 right now, which is pre-programed destruction.

Another thing I would love to see on BF4: I want to actually kill people with the RPG !! ( raging troll face )

Played BF3 yesterday, everthing was fine. Today after downloading end game all textures are fucked up and my weapons went invinsible. I was running around like a civilian.....

I'm repairing the install at the moment and the game needs to replace about 700mb of corrupted data.

Way to go DICE!

hairyman13
hairyman13

@H4num4n thank you finally some who has mentioned this... i new it couldnt just be myself, i thought i had hdmi problems, then ( piece of sh*t ) ps3 super slim problems so i triend 3 tvS, 4 diff hdmi cable and two ps3s ( one an old os3 fat ).. same result super low textures and that flickering that has always been there about a billion times worse iv even made videos on it.. diff maps etc, a quick example on nebandon? flats your scope vertical line vanishes in back ground of map... have you fixed this, how did you fix this ?

Sarg1010
Sarg1010

My only real gripe with BF3 is how long it takes DICE to patch their game. Months in between patches is ridiculous! What version are we on? 1.09 or something like that? That's pathetic!

I traded gta 4 for bf3 with my friend. Then another friend shared premium with me on ps3... so yeah it was worth my money. Anyways, I think that 16 maps 5 game modes and like 20 guns is worth it IF you are already enjoying the basic package. That is like getting a whole game for the price of a whole game... that you already know you like.

anvilone
anvilone moderatorstaff

@ejpaine I agree. At the end of it all, you have double the maps you started with, plenty of weapons, vehicles and modes. $50 is a reasonable price point for basically a second game. Assuming you don't count the single player, which I don't.

Was it worth it? NOPE, just saved $15 bucks on a few maps and guns. What happened to the old days when people are less greedy and DLCs are free? Honestly EA is just as bad as Activision.

@4514N_DUD3 Battlefield expansions have always been paid, since before EA acquired DICE.

Y'all did premium wrong they did the release of premium in game form also, you buy the game and get premium also. I didn't buy premium right away I waited for that edition to come out traded my copy of bf3 in paid the difference of 15 bucks got a new unused Battlefield disc and Premium. Saved me lots of money got me everything.

@anvilone @Erutan409 My "effortless response" has seemed to prompt a rather effortful response from you.  I understand your ego's at stake here and you need to come back at me with a hefty retort and prove you're competent in doing so.  I could also go rounds with you seeing who can dish out the more elegant response, but I would have thought NOT acknowledging my comment would have been more tasteful; for your defense.

Either way: keep at it, I guess..?

anvilone

@Erutan409 @anvilone Nope. Part of doing these kinds of videos is expecting that some members of the audience won't always like them. Can't satisfy everybody. We mainly want to reach the people who are fans of the game, as we are, or are curious about it or who are interested in a thoughtful discussion. I can't really be offended by a non-critical, effortless response. If I was, o lordy, I would have stopped after we covered the first Rent-a-server patch.

If I'm honest, I enjoyed BF3 until the servers went rented. I felt that the cost for Premium was too high and the core game became less fun with the modifications made in numerous patches. If this continues through in BF4 I won't be buying it unless I feel it's value for money. The only way it will be is if I wait 8 months after release and get the BF4 + Premium pack for the same price as the game when was first released. This is basically what happened with Premium for BF3 and why I felt it was too expensive. Those that bought in early paid more than late adopters.

Joedgabe
Joedgabe

@ACWH 110$ game :P My brother bought it new for 60$ then bought the premium for 50$ and he's not even playing it for the longest. But you pay for what you feel like, I payed 60$ for ni no kuni and then ii bought the strategy guide for 40$ though it's not the same people getting the money i invested 100$ in that game with no regrets.

ACWH
ACWH

@Joedgabe @ACWH Yeah I totally agree. I'm not paying £80 on a game. Less for more seems to be where the industry is going and people will just switch off if it becomes too expensive.

djpetitte

that was definitely EA bullshit, they were forcasting revenue and pushing the game for release before finished. The slap in the face was EA didn't care about was the diehard fans that bought it right out of the gate.  Its just like any other software these days. I  dont fully blame DICE because they have made masterpieces before and will probably continue to.
