@da_post_office You missed the point of what @Gelugon_baat was saying. In the past I would be able to set up my own server without having the need somehow pay DICE for the ability to do what I want. My friend has a Minecraft server we play on that piggybacks off of his T1 connection. No money going to Notch or Mojang at all. With every Battlefield game up till Bad Company 2 atleast on the PC we've had the ability to do this on our own with the simple click of a button. Now, DICE/EA wants a cut of the action after letting people get away with it for so long. There are still servers for the original Unreal Tournament still up and EPIC has long since pulled support for the title. And why wouldn't they? The games only 13 years old but the community has kept it alive this way. Now EA/DICE can pull the plug on your server at any given time without notification. Hell, it's not even your server it's just some box in an imaginary place somewhere in the world.

I choose Battlefield 3 for more realism with various tactical weaponry to choose from... including jet planes, heli's, tanks, humvees, technicals, buggies, boats. The enviornments are also destructable and the map scales are very impressive in detail, plus the ability to use parachutes is fun and adds to the tactics.

so are you renting a dedicated server??? If not, then this is no different than online console shooters that have been out since 03.

I don'y deny BF3 wins in realism and probably team play as well. I even started with BF3, but if you mainly play alone or with one other, COD is the way to go. Plus all the little emblems and killstreaks give you something to play for

The good thing with BF3 is that you don't have to fly at all. There are so many meta games within the game.

The answer for that its Easy if you are a PRO Gamer or Tactical Person select Battlefield 3 , if you are a Newbie in FPS or you like the rush combat select MW3

Kind of pointless. Most of these features are free in other console games and since this isn't a PC server, you can't really customize more than a few stupid features.

@ChuckLinasty My thoughts EXACTLY . WTF??? Dice , you want more money i guess

So they couldn't just give us private matches for free like every other shooter game has?

Guys this is a good thing. When people complained about no server space or no servers at all, this has sold all of the problems. i played on my xbox today instead of the pc version and i saw a gazillion servers. its awesome. there is nothing bad here.

@Gelugon_baat It costs resources to run servers like this it has always cost money be it on counter strike or bf2 or anything. Its nothing new but its new to consoles for sure.

Why are they treating this like it's something "never been in a game before"-new thing? Want your own server? Go to hosts like Multiplay; get a few plug-ins and you're set. This is simply EA saying they wanna slit my wrists and bleed me dry... no thx :P

lol the moment the voice over says "with your server live, practice your tactics", it's a bunch of guys spinning in circles and shooting at the sky
