I have played this game ,it is a great game, only one thing, you cannot stay crouched without holding the button down, for pc that is a nuicense,at least for me. The rest will match c.o.d.graphics and such, great game!
Squad Deathmatch and a pair of new maps are the focus of our latest hands-on with DICE's upcoming shooter.
Fans of online shooters have had a great past few months with games like Left 4 Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2 occupying the disc trays of consoles the world over. Those post-headshot cackles of glee shouldn't be letting up anytime soon, because a number of intriguing shooters are slated for release in early 2010. One of the most promising of the bunch is DICE's Battlefield: Bad Company 2, a game we've had our eye on for quite some time. Previously, we've covered some of the new vehicles you can expect to see on the snowy Port Valdez map, and we've detailed the new class customization options on the dusty Arica Harbour map. Our most recent look at Bad Company 2 gave us a chance to see two new locales and a new gameplay mode: Squad Deathmatch.
As the name implies, Squad Deathmatch is a twist on the most basic of shooter modes. The difference here is that it's not a free-for-all, nor is it a one-team-versus-the-other situation. Instead, it's four teams of four all duking it out to be the first squad to reach 50 total kills. It makes for quite a different style of combat and a much more tense and unnerving experience. Even if you manage to survive an encounter with an opponent from one squad, you never know if there's a member of another squad just waiting in the bushes for the right moment to pull mop-up duty. You also feel much more connected to your squadmates knowing that it's four of you, and 12 of them.
Another thing that makes Squad Deathmatch interesting is the way certain endgame scenarios change your play style. Say your squad and another squad are both tied at 45 total kills, with the other two teams so far behind that they're basically out of the competition. Suddenly, the strategy becomes seeking out the losing squads and trying to avoid the one that's close to you in total kills. Who cares if you die while going after the weak guys? They're already out of it. But a death against the team that's tied with you suddenly matters a whole lot more. There's also one single tank in Squad Deathmatch that acts as a sort of centerpiece for the action, allowing one team to both go on a rampage and signal to the other teams with a very loud voice where they are and where they can be killed. Overall, Squad Deathmatch adds a few very interesting risk-reward dynamics to the usual Deathmatch formula.
We played Squad Deathmatch on the new Laguna Presa map, an area set in a vibrant jungle where a series of small islands are separated by knee-deep pools and streams. This map has a lot of small patches of foliage to hide in, as well as a number of rickety wooden buildings that don't provide a whole lot of protection from incoming gunfire. This map is a stark departure from previous Bad Company 2 maps we've seen, which were set in snowy Alaska and parts of arid South America. We also got to play on another new map called Panama Canal, which is a shipping yard set on the famous maritime passageway in Central America. This industrial-themed map offers a demolished collection of rusted freighter boats and shipping cans and gives you the chance to cruise around in several tanks and quad ATVs.
On the Panama Canal map, we played that old Battlefield standby known as Conquest mode. As fans of the series will recall, this mode sees two teams fighting for capture points spread across the map. The first team to exhaust its total number of respawns loses, and the point of maintaining capture points is that they offer a boost to the total number of respawns your team has left. In contrast to the measured jungle-stalking of the Laguna Presa map, we found Panama Canal to be a more frenetic and explosive experience. With the ATVs zooming around and the capture points serving as magnets for a flurry of incoming grenades, this map and mode certainly felt a lot more chaotic than Squad Deathmatch on Laguna Presa.
We've seen Bad Company 2 several times now, and we've had fun with it every time we've picked up a controller. The large-scale maps, destructible buildings, and vehicle options make for a fun and varied experience that allows you to pursue victory from a number of different angles. Whether you play as a rooftop sniper, a tank driver, or a deranged medic running around zapping enemies to death with defibrillator paddles, there's a lot of room to play how you want. Bad Company 2 is due out March 2.
the game is nice for sure and i hope i love it like the rest of all BF games to now. But folks!? Its now only 32 player, this is aslo why small maps and no Jets, It should go from 64 to 128 or 256 or moore players not down for the fisrt time in 2010 to only 32 player ! DID any produsers play Planet side? this is still the best Battlefild like game out there but sadly werry old game. it is an massive shooter game, with 2000 players on a server, 256 a map i think in a world u could fly with jets from continent to continents and fight about base terratori , if somone used there brains werry good they should do a battlefield game like this! i love bf2 i love 2142, If u wanna se the BIG Dollars $$$$ look at planet side and make a RE party, it does not need to be siencefictiopn game just beacuase planet side is, it could me like bad company 2 in a big world with real-Time -clock! it could aslo be siencefiction like planet side or 2142 , but up to u folks that made the games!! SORRY -me- English (i know it suX
@ colbertnation1 The maps are big. About the size of a BF2 map. There's no jets because that would take the shift waaayy away from ground fighting. Add jets and now you've got 3/4 of players in vehicles and 1/4 on foot. This is not BF 2.1 It's BC2. Jet's would serve as a pure novelty act and detract for the REAL gameplay of the groundfight and capturing objectives/defending them. There's more helos instead.
They dont seem to show the maps size much. I think their worst mistake was removing the Jets. I think its great they are doing a single player, especially for those console people that liked BC, but the big money is in battlefield. If you say theres jets, people get the idea of how large the maps are. Sure hope they are "large scale" as stated and not just larger cod4 style maps. Im going to miss the jets, wake island, gulf of oman, kubra dam and that huge tank map. That kinda stuff people love and jets ar egreat for it. Hope this is good.
The best combinations of classes will problably be 2 medics,a sniper, and either demolition or assault. I hope the demo when it comes out lets u try this mode out.
Why is everyone arguing about whether PC is better than consoles and vice versa, is it really that big of a deal. Just move on.
i did play the beta and did find it awsome this game and star ocean till the end of time are the two games i realyy waiting for it wil be a awsome online game i hope they make sometimes a good map pak and add sometimes new weapons. annyway i am makking a squad for battlefield so for the one who want to join us click on the link below http://lod346.webs.com/
to Prince VLAD: you should take your head out of your own arse, PC gamers know how to use a PC, well DUH!!!! and console people are stupid? well let me tell you something child... i work in IT, i have done for 10 years,. i work in london and earn a very nice wage, i have all consoles and a kick ass PC... HOWEVER.. i play game son consoles as ... 1> it's easier to just turn on and im gaming (as it's gaming thats the pinicle here not whch system i play on) PC games are often out months after a console release, so why would i wait for a port that never works right and then you get all the PC fan boys moaning that its not right .. booo f**king hooo!! get over it. i play PC games that are for the PC ... strange that huh!? As far as which is better? niether... it's all about the games dude, all about the games...
I just hope this awesome multiplayer is backed up with an even better single player. I love the beta, but I want a great campaign to play those days my internet connection wants to act retarded. If it does this will be one of my favorite FPS' s.
This keyboard/mouse vs controller war going on is ridiculous. It's a matter of preference really, and opinions will always be opinions. There will always be fan-boys around. So if you are using a controller and find it easier than a keyboard/mouse then good for you. I prefer a keyboard/mouse.
Simply Awesome Multiplayer! After playing MW2 and now seeing this. I have to say that BC2 makes MW2 look ordinary. To tell the truth I did not like MW2 anyway. Uninstalled and collecting dust at the moment. Now I'm giving BC1 a 4th run. Just an amazing game.
I gonna have a team of two snipers, an engineer and a medic (me) for this map. Were gonna be invisible...
Sandbox addict...you sound you don't live on this planet.Grow up! if what I said is news for you than you didn't learn much and you don'y know much about life itself. Maybe you should stick around and observe carefully on daily basis what REALLY is happening around you pal.
I would play all games on pc but mine sucks and don't have the money to upgrade. As much as i regret it i'll have to get this for the xbox 360.
I cant wait for this game!!!! But people should really stop comparing it to mw2. Theyre two very different games.
console are better because you dont have to pay thousands of dollars every year so that you can play new games. its also a hundred times easier to play games on consoles since there are a handful of buttons instead of heaps on a keyboard, half the time when im playin on a pc im pressing wrong buttons because in the midst of the action its hard to find the single button out of the 40 or so buttons.
@prince__vlad "...economy loves stupid people because THERE are the most easy money" ?? I rest my case, your honor.
For Khadaj: I'm just wondering, too what age you got saying that stupid thing. They may be young but it's true, consoles are made just for stupid people who don't know to /play a game at/operate a pc. Consoles are made because of one thing: economy loves STUPID people because THERE are the most easy money. To operate a pc is close to an art, to play a game on a pc , too...
for those who love fps on pc play it on pc. why bother about others who play on consoles? lets just enjoy the games.
@mrtoilet @LucasJodoKast Wow, how old are you two? All you just did was further cement the theory that PC gamers are four eyed nerds who still live with their parents. Grow up.
Mouse/Keyboard beats playing with controlpad on FPS any day, if this wasnt the case FPS's would be cross platform those who say console is more comfortable are either stupid or (actually no they are just stupid) there is nothing stopping anyone from connecting their PC to a Svideo/Composite or HDTV & playing on their lounge, most just choose not to
I agree this game looks amazing, I loved the original and love to keep track of this sequel's progress. Hope it tarnishes Modern Warfare 2
This game is going to be amazing. So far from playing the BETA i can tell you its twice as explosive and way more intense. Theres so much going on at once in a match its so overwhelming being shot from 2 different angles and having a tank chase you while snipers in the cliff rocks trying to pick you off while you are driving 100 mph in a jeep eventually crashing and taking 2 people out. THIS IS BATTLEFIELD! i do though miss Battlefield 2: modern combat that was a instant classic on Xbox n the 360 version
@ D1zzyCriminal you can't stop Fanboys from being Fanboys, so just let the nerds be nerds and hate each other
People need to stop dissing people who use a different platform to yourself. Everyone has their preference. I would choose to game on a pc over any other platform any day because of the choice and scope of the games and inputs, the whole thing is more personal especially if you build it yourself... Unfortunately I own an Xbox360 but im happy, I plan on getting a ps3 when theyre cheap. People need to grow up.
@ sleepychicken Yes, because nothing in this world not work 100% just as intended, and there are never surprise results in design... my ass. And game controllers, every single one was designed specifically to work perfectly for every single game to ever come out because the designers took a time machine into the future and checked in advance when they were designing said controllers... or at least checked with their Magic 8-balls. It absolutely has nothing to do with controllers evolving off of the same old ass reference design from the 8-bit era, you know, the time when FPS games didn't even exist. You seem to want to believe that there are two types of people in this world cleanly divided as people who have consoles and those who have PCs. The reality is, these days, most people have both in their homes. People say kb&m is better for certain games because they've tried both. Who sits there believing their input devices were tailor designed to their one specific piece of software and think it's the best because of it? Many PC gamers would probably favor controller for say, a 3rd person action adventure/platformer. It all comes down to what works best, simple as that. Sorry to say, but your logic is flawed and your theory is crap.
I love how PC guys always rip on controllers. So, I guess the keyboard and mouse were designed with games in mind, not data entry and file navigation? Please. Certain games work with PC controls because they were DESIGNED for KB & Mouse. Just like porting a game over to PC never works because it was designed for a controller. You're going to have a hard time convincing me that something designed for typing and clicking files is better for gaming than something designed to control games.
these games are multi-platform, what is there to hate about each other? i am a ps3 fan, but i like 360 becasue their games are cheaper. pc is the best looking but need a really high end rig tats makes things bad as newer games are so high graphics demanding.
Great, now I will have "2" of the best Shooters to be produced in recent times to play, cant wait!!!!
I enjoy playing both COD and BF but look forward to the new BF game over mw2. I will also get both versions, ps3 and xbox360 versions of the game seeing I have friends on both but will pass on the pc, leaving the pc for star trek online time.
