- "Best in series"
When this game came out, I was amazed. Previously my online experiences had been restricted to the Call Of Duty series, and the only kind of multiplayer I knew of was the small, arena sized matches of COD 4. As anyone who has played a Battlefield game can probably relate to, I was absolutely blown away when I first entered an online match.
It was so different to anything I'd ever played. Maps were huge and sprawling, with everything from long range tank engagements to fast, furious house to house fighting. On top of that was the frostbite engine's glorious destruction. See an RPG operator taking aim at one of your tanks? Pop off a rifle grenade at him, and revel in the glorious sights of the entire wall of the building falling away, taking the enemy with it. This destruction engine meant that no two battles were ever the same, so maps never got boring.
The fact that DICE released many FREE map packs post release was the icing on the cake. Bad Company 2 was the definitive multiplayer experience.
Unfortunately I had to give this game a 9.5 because, although close, this game is not perfect. While I do not want to compare it to Call of Duty, as I believe they are almost so different, they don't belong in the same genre, COD's matchmaking system is better than BFBC2's. In Battlefield, there is no minimum amount of players in a match, and often you will find yourself in a game with only one other person. There is no lobby per se, just an after match report.
My aim for this review is to convince anyone who is looking for a fantastic multiplayer game to give this one a try. The fact that it is only around 20$ these days gives the discerning gamer no excuse not to own this gem.

Bad Company 2 has some good ideas, but a disappointing campaign and a lack of content holds the game down.

While slow-paced, this is a must have of all Battlefield fans.

A perfect game. Great game balancing, immersive atmosphere, and great graphics, lighting, and sound design. A must-play.
