Best Writing/Dialogue
Editorial Nominees
Our Special Achievement awards are designed to highlight games that do something specific in an outstanding way, and as a result, there are often strong similarities among the nominees within a given category. Best Writing/Dialogue, however, brings together a strikingly diverse group of games, proving that great writing can take many forms. This plurality clearly manifested itself in our deliberations as well. One minute, we were all laughing out loud as we traded favorite quotes; the next, we were sitting in rapt silence as a misty-eyed editor recalled heart-wrenching scenes. And there's nothing quite like watching a video in a room full of your coworkers to make you appreciate how lascivious a robotic trio of computer monitors can be, given the right words. You may notice that there's a lot of overlap between these nominees and those nominated for Most Memorable Moment--a testament to the power of the year's best writing.
