Yeah dude its GOTY 2012! FC3 Barely won. In my opinion it is a deserved VICTORY! WOOHOO =)!
Far Cry 3 owns ME3 in my opinion. But they are super close.
Mass Effect 3 should have won. Like said before, Far Cry 3 is so generic.
I will always remember the Mass Effect series, the storyline and the characters were so excellent and generated so many emotions. It encompassed every genre: Science fiction, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Action, Romance, etc.
All this along with awesome graphics even from the first game to the last with an amazing soundtrack and a wide range of different environments and plots.
Let's hope Mass Effect 4 will be just as great. Unfortunately the main story of the trilogy might be over now. Hopefully it'll continue.

@SweRaider @corpsebound no im not a kid,the first mass effect was a good game...im just sick of todays games.need the next gen of games to come out.you obviously havnt played the first mass effect and you are new to the game wich i can understand how you like it.its not a massive rpg at all,finished the game in less then a week.

Until RPG developers realize their gameplay is mediocre it will continue to be FPS's for the win. Kinda sad but...oh well, maybe one day they'll learn how to appeal to everyone :S
3 Like @LE5LO Far Cry 3 is hardly a standard FPS, in the same way ME3 is hardly a standard RPG. Both combine FPS and RPG elements very well, and I'm loving how successfully some developers are managing to combine genres - especially introducing heavier RPG elements to traditional playstyles.
Seeing the ME3 fans' reactions is even more entertaining than the poll result. So predictable. But then, which poll isn't like this?
2 Like Pleased to see how close this was - both are incredible games. Neither are perfect: ME3 disappoints almost entirely due to failing to meet its own ludicrously high standards at the end, while FC3 could be accused of being occasionally repetitive, with overly surreal/nonsensical undertones. Still 2 of my favourite ever games without a doubt, they will be getting replayed plenty of times I'm sure (yes that includes ME3 multiplayer, I happen to still like it).
Also, how fantastic is it to see these 2 games fighting it out at the top with COD nowhere to be seen...
1 Like @Melas300 @briggsy10 True, I wasn't exactly expecting COD to get this far, I just like that games as publicly noticeable as the COD series aren't getting too much recognition. It bugs me that most non-gamers consider COD to be the quintessential game that gamers apparently all play.
The general public has no idea just how impressive and engaging "real" games are these days, their perception is limited to COD and Wii mostly. It's a shame, that's why I'm glad it hasn't skewed polls like these.
@briggsy10 You know, we agree 100%. More than a few times I have had arguments with my friends about this. I am convinced that the general public is ignorant. I responded to you like that only because I believe we have to deal with gamers here, not the general public ;)

Far Cry 3 is a really good game too, but it is way to repetitious. Also there is really nothing unique about it when compared to other open world style games just like it. For instance the other two Far Cry games, the first Crysis game, the Just Cause games, the Mercenaries games, and there are some others.
As for Mass Effect 3 it has a crappy ending even with the extended cut ending it was crap too, but everything else about the game it great. It is very fun and never gets dull or repetitious in any way, and that is because the game takes place in many different locations and not just one plain jane looking place. I can't think of any other games that are just like it, but yes there are some that are similar, but there really isn't really anything else like even the other two Mass Effect games are different.

How on earth did mass effect 3 not win??? There is no justice or common sense in this world anymore.
ME3 good - great game but no, not the story. ME1 story was epic, fight against reapers. ME3 was just fight agains Cerberus, reapers were shoved in the backend. Lots of unanswered questions still and Mr Starboy ruined everything.

1 Like Both are great games. My only gripe about Mass Effect 3 is that it fell short of Mass Effect 2 in all regards except for the combat. Far Cry 3 simply shocked everyone with how good it is. Overall a great year in gaming. Bring on 2013 with Bioshock Infinite and GTA V!

1 Like Mass Effect 3 i all about action, like in a good movie, you feel like watching a movie, not playing a game, so in my opinion ME3 should win. FC3 won because was released early time, and people playing it, and it's that love rush, that's all.
1 Like I'm sorry but how is this a comparison, Far Cry 3 had extremely fun gameplay but terrible story, Mass Effect 3 had story and gameplay that kept you playing until the end.
2 Like ME3 has a good place in peoples memory and did a great job coming this far in the voting despite being in a less popular genre than FC3, released many months before and all the debate about its ending. Both perfect games anyways
4 Like Far Cry 3 was simply one of the greatest SP campaigns I have played in a long long time, you can approach the enemy anyway you want, the attention to detail, graphics was awesome, Vaas was a fantastic character in the game. Sure there were some problems in the game like IMO MP wasnt needed at all and feels shoehorned in and lifeless, the game goes over board in holding in your hand like buying Relic maps, free weapons for fixing radio tower , But for the some of its parts FC3 was one of the greatest SP games I have played and in a year filled with other great SP games like XCOM, Dishonoured, Journey, etc its a compliment. Congrats Ubi you deserve this one.
@firehawk998 I actually like the fact that you can buy maps to locate items, otherwise i spend more time on the internet looking for the locations than playing the game :P but ubi does that in the assassin's creeds series so i guess they just transferred the idea over, much like the radio towers, which are view points in AC.
