Special Achievement

Best Original Music

A terrific musical score can add a great deal to a game, and while there are many games with outstanding soundtracks licensed from existing artists, there's nothing quite like an original soundtrack that was composed, arranged, and performed from scratch for use in a specific game. Not only do the very best original soundtracks feature musical compositions that are strong enough to be enjoyable on their own, but they are also thematically appropriate to the games in which they appear and truly add something to the experience of playing.

the Afro Samurai soundtrack would be better, if it wasn't so heavily inspired by the similar fusion of hip hop / jazz / funk / orchestral that the Samurai Champloo anime offered.

ODST had the best soundtrack for me by far.

ACII's soundtrack got that many votes? Seriously?

..You know, just because ACII is your GOTY doesn't mean you have to vote for it in EVERY category. Sheesh, people, have an opinion for a change. Just saying.

I this game and to be honest the gameplay isn't very good. But the music is awesome.

Although not a big fan of the game, the 'ODST' soundtrack was exellent, mind you, all Halo games have great orchestral scores.

I thought Red Faction: Guerrilla has a very strong original sountrack going for it.

inFamous' ending credit got to get some kind of a prize. That was sooo good and it wasn't nominated anywhere? Sigh!

Zelda should be on this list, no argument...

This one is going to be skewed because the games with the best music didn't sell all that great. So people usually won't vote for a game they didn't get around to playing no matter how great the music is, compared to the game that everyone and their mom heard about or played.

If Borderlands had been there, I totally would have voted for that. I loved Borderlands' music.
