Downloadable games have become quite a big deal this generation. As more developers jump into the fray, the ideas continue to grow bigger and more imaginative, creating experiences that frequently rival those of full-priced retail releases. This year had a string of awesome new downloadable games, so those disinclined to leave the comfort of their couch could enjoy memorable and unique games. As development costs continue to rise and large-scale games take longer and longer to develop, downloadable games become ever more important, and these nominees were the best of the year.
