Check out a Beyond: Two Souls motion capture video featuring Ellen Page and Kadeem Hardison among others hard at work.
technology has come a looooong way! i remember when you could tell a cutscene from the actual gameplay(back in the day). now they have become one! can only imagine what next gen is gonna look like.....
Seriously...gaming has become so mainstream and yet gaming quality has gone down the drain. Theres a problem when people are getting hyped over what actor is staring in a game versus how the game actually plays and what kind of story will it have.
How often do you get someone like Ellen Page starring in a videogame? Also, I think Beyond: Two Souls is one of the few examples of videogame quality actually going up.
honestly im liking the graphics, story and stuff, but the playing style i saw on the E3 gameplay just left me undecided whetha it will rilly feel like a game or some sort of interactive movie.......
i wonder how it came to be the best game at E3
Because it's different and isn't like all the generic, derivative FPS's and action games out there?
When I play Fahrenheit on XBOX, I think this is the game that I've been looking for. It's like Shenmue but without fighting mechanics. The story is great.
Just from the bits and pieces seen here, looks like the story and the characters in it, should all be very interesting.
I bought a second hand Xbox 360 for cheap from a buddy of mine, good console but If I had the choice I would go for the PS3, special console. I will stay with the Xbox for now because I like it and it is a close runner up but for the next generation I am thinking PS4 :)
@TommyBarban ps3 have the best games
xbox stuck with gaylo, gears and flopza while sony keeps making new IP'S every year
sony all the way nuff said
Heavy Rain was great but the acting was a bit off, looks like that won't be a problem with Beyond though :3
Nice behind the scene's footage, Looking forward to this game, I am going to try and play it without using the spirit/demon thing, cause whenever it is used there's always some kind of death or another, and I hate that, I know she's being hunted, but violence, only begets more violence...
I'm sure after finishing with this project, Ellen Page would never what to do MoCap (motion capture) ever again. Seeing it's already given me pain in the a$$.
The fact is, for now, this is the one and the only game, besides Heavy Rain, that put you in unique next gent console experience. This kind of game style seems to happen only in Quantic Dream studio these days, since it takes so much effort and dedication. Let alone investment of the game.
Honestly, I think the faces look more realistic and believable than L.A. Noire's faces. Yeah, the L.A. Noire faces looked great, but something was off about them.
Beyond: Two Souls
The Last of Us
Why you wouldn't want to invest in a PS3 now actually defies belief. Sheer awesomeness.
Honestly, when you learn how code is compiled and how computer's actually process data, it actually becomes less amazing knowing that technology like this works. Don't get me wrong, it's still damn awesome, but the fact is that it's always "just Math" at the end of the day when it comes to computers.
Those sensors are merely reporting numbers that are then Mathematically calculated by the computer. That data allows the computer to calculate the distance all the sensors move relative to 1) Where they were previously (measured in milliseconds) 2) their relative position to other sensors.
Obviously, that's an enormous amount of mathematical calculations every second, impossible for a human. But it really is just Math.
It's really a eye-opener to learn that basic logic and math is how ALL of our computer technology works (that includes every single game mechanic ever invented!)
So basically they didn't do anything except model the characters and the scenes? What's so innovative about that, Mr. Cage?
@Trickymaster Nothing, and nobody ever said it was. It's just a behind the scenes video showing their new performance capture approach.
@jusedi lol hate more buddy this tech already piss LA noir all over it so suck it up and deal with it
even heavy rain in some aspects were better than LA noir
I salute the people that have to sit through hours of motion capture acting....I've tried it once.....one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever worn.....and i had to wear high heels before (dont ask)
Isn't Kadeem Hardison the guy from White men can't jump? Wesley Snipe's sidekick. Not W. Harrelson, but the guy from the first scene on the b-ball court. I think he was also in the Cosby spinoff show, I believe it was called a Different World or something similar to that.
She is an amazing actress!
I'm so glad that people mix up the gaming industry with marvelous work like this.
Oh, aye. Adorable... but I wouldn't say she's hollywoods most beautiful example of a master actress. Though in truth, this 'over-melodrama' is probably largely worked in by the writers... and maybe only slightly embellished by the actors/actresses
