2 Questions: can you bank items? can you turn off auto-equip?

I just started playing this game yesterday and the very first issue I immediately encountered was needing room in my backpack but not wanting to sell certain items. Also, I get annoyed that picking up items switches my currently equipped item to whatever I picked up. I hate that and it's extremely annoying. I'm relating both my experiences to world of warcraft where you have a bank and looted items went directly into your bags. So, my questions are: Is there a place to bank items? and, Is there a way to keep the game from equipping items as you pick them up??
