Andrew Park interviews Gearbox president, Randy Pitchford, and Tony Key of Ubisoft
Well, seeing how Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway came out 4 years ago, and this one, might come out this year, no we will not be seeing the continued Baker story for a good length of time. This should not have been their main focus of development, if they wanted to keep the BIA titles alive. I love the BIA titles, but I just don't think this was the right choice.
But if everyone was listening to what randy was saying, they made this game as a fun "WW2 stuff" A different branch. So the Baker story is still there, just gotta wait a little longer for it. It was good to hear that they didnt give up on the baker story.
I could of Sworn the next installment to SGT Bakers story Was the Bastonge battles. That would of been awesome, Some Snow conflict and What have ya. it could made the battles harder since the conditions were harsh, that could of mos def been a certain factor. this game looks bound to fail and Like everyone else said it shouldnt have the BIA title, since it really has nothing to do With the BIA series. Looks like they got bored and created this Bull&!$%
I don't understand why this just isn't called Furious 4. Brothers in Arms has nothing to do with it, and no, this is not a new brand from Brothers in Arms, this is its own style of game, so, call it that.
*sigh Ubi
I was excited to hear of a new installment to the BIA series. However, this is garbage. start a new cartoon GI joe series if you want to make a stupid game like this. don't use the BIA name and drag it through the mud with this trash. This type of silly, over-the top violence has no place in any type of world war II media. the people who made this game should be ashamed of themselves. to trivialize the greatest (and by greatest i mean deadliest) conflict in human history like this is disrespectful. I hope they lose 27 million dollars making this "game".
i hope ubisoft and gearbox read all the posts of peple saying this game looks like and is gonna be a pathetic waste of time money and effort for this piece of crap game and get the idea and finally go back to sgt baker where everyone wants to go.
I play Brothers in Arms for the tactical WWII shooting. Why waste our time with this game, and why waste your time making it. If you want to make an arcade WWII shooter make it a side project. Don't set up a third game for Baker's story, wait two years, and then make this and tack on the Brothers in Arms name. I want my sequel! I'll probably play it, I wont lie, but come on! Oh yeah, don't do this to "Rainbow Six" Ubisoft guy. haha
@Sixshooter13 They already did that years ago. R63 was a massive departure from Rogue Spear / Black Thorn / Urban Ops. A methodical, strategic, tactical, squad based shooter was replaced by an intensely linear, slow paced, FPS with a tactical atmosphere. Ghost Recon went from being something akin to Operation Flashpoint to a linear squad based shooter. If Furious 4 does well, they will feel justified in their actions and abandon the franchise roots entirely. They've done it before, and they'll do it again.
1. The dude doing the interview sounds like kermit the frog. 2. They have ruined the franchise.
Hells Highway was amazing.... this looks like complete crap... furious 4???? more like a "bunch of 4 dooshbags"
one question, WHY!!!!!!! Like everyone else that loved (i say loved as in the past tense purely by seeing this crap) the BIA franchise, this feels like a massive slap in the face to all of the fans. Scew you gearbox, go die
Once again they dumb down a great franchise. The first Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and BIA were the best at mixing strategy and action. Why don't they rename it 'Just another Call of Duty Rip Off'. Hey I like flashy shooters to, but why do they mess with these great franchises? I know, call it 'Infurious Bastards!'
stop complaining brother in arms fanboys this game looks way better the the previous ones who cares about the name give it a try when it comes out before you hate it grow up
The day before Brothers in arms died i went to see it. I was grown and it was almost gone.....
Give me one reason why not use different name for this? THERE IS NO REASON OR SENSE! Name the game like Furious 4, or Furious Fortress, or Furious Brothers.
Horribly disrespectful to BIA franchise, WW2 and the men who sacrificed their lives in the conflict. Hope Gamespot rates this 1.0 and nobody buys this.... whatever, can't bring myself to say it's a game.
wait wait wait there was no stuning electric gun in ww2 wtf are thay makeing sh*t up? lol ubisoft failed
if this game is gonna released on the bia name i will not buy it and anyone who respect himself will not buy this trash thay stole from some movie so thay eat my d*ck we all loved baker and his team why delate him hell's highway was good game multiplayer was kinda weak but still great i really liked bia but not this sh*t thay stole
Really? Couldn't Gearbox brand a new IP? BiA is amongst the only f***king World War 2 series that's still worth it and yet they find a way to turn it into a travesty. Way to go, gearbox. Way to f**k stab in the back the fans that put you where you are now. Jesus christ... This type of attitude sickens me "yada yada yada, bia is not just baker's story" Well then FINISH baker's storyline first godammit!
.....what a betrayal....they better go back to the old story and realism... I had a lot of respect for this series and they just went and stomped on it...I'm like as big of a BIA fan as possible then they go do this... I'll have to see this as something else to have any sort of a positive experience...luckily I do think they plan to back and I reaally hope they don't mess it up when they do
@Gelugon baat i hope you realize that gearbox didnt even have the Duke Nukem property for a year before they released it. the game was mostly "finished" and they just put the final touches on it to get it out. i know that when they do their own Duke game, it will be a hoot. dont doubt them yet
Gearbox is on a role. Almighty games such as Borderlands, Duke Nukem Forever, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Brothers in Arms: Furious 4. I'm loving everything they do now!
Scouten9, I totally agree. When I first saw this I felt more betrayal than I ever had felt over a brand before. After watching the interview though I changed my mind and decided that this is probably a really good business move as it will appeal to more people. But if they are lying to us about bringing back the original style later then I will have a holy shi*fit!!!!!
as long as they get back to the "REAL" brothers in arms "untouched" i can let this one slide
Should have just called it Furious 4 and not add the Brothers in Arms name to it just to get BIA fanbase's attention. Nevertheless, this looks fun and as long as they don't F up Baker's Brothers in Arms in the future, I'm fine with this.
The characters look like they are ripped of some Sven Hassel novel, but in all fairness i think the game will be lots of fun .
According to Mr Pitchford, these guys existed in WW2? OSS and the SIS would never have walked into a German held bar like this, they'd be using the cover to blow up a railway line with the French resistance. Complete BS and p****s on all veterans of WW2 from both sides
Seriously though, show the trailer for this game to any veteran...they would probably all reach for their .45 automatics that they thought they laid to rest 70ish years ago and want to extingiush this BS from further screwing up the world's youth. Sheesh....
Innovative, new, exciting.....who gives a hoot!!! Describe it any way he wants there is no way for him to avoid the fact that he and his crew has terriblely disgraced and dishonored WWII veterans...both allied and axis veterans. This bohunk should have been set in a whole different area and certainly not have tainted the Brothers in Arms name. It's just purely sickening to me. Something like WWII doesn't need this type of gratiutous blood-spattering. You have undone the great work and service you did with the first three games in one quick announcement. FOR SHAME!!! :(
