I feel insulted every time a reviewer leaves out the fact local multiplayer is non-existent. This game, and this mode in general needs a local multiplayer element. There is a constant feature in the game of doing better than your friends, but that is only if they are online friends. Criterion is one of those studios that can't figure out that local multiplayer should be in every one of their games. If they designed their games around it they could appeal to more people and get more talk about their product. Instead they keep doing stuff that annoys and alienates everyone that got hooked with Burnout 3 because of its local multiplayer modes.

I'm glad I bought this. It's great fun. Think of it like a sort of "On the Side" Burnout game. Like "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" was to the Tomb Raider series. For a single button game, it does require a lot of thought to play well.

@LENGTHIAN You crack me up because you can't understand that this game will be compared to others in the series simply because it shares the same name. It's a shock to anyone who has played one the previous incarnations, hears about Burnout Crash! and then sees this. And Take-Two announced that GTA4 has sold 22 million units. Not bad for a game that "sucks".

@carolynmichelle said: @blackace It's ten bucks. ************************************************* Yeah, I saw that. I just downloaded the demo. I'll give it a try this weekend and see if I like it or not. $10 isn't too bad. I can handle that if the game is fun.

Cracks me up how people cant measure a game on its own merits and have to compare it to the most recent burnouts....BO 3 or takedown had a great crash mode! this is simply a small arcade version that doesnt take itself too seriously. i wonder how many of you tried the demo before criticising? games are about PLAY not visuals. that why GTA4 sucked.

This game STILL looks lame. I appreciate the effort for something different. But I'd rather play a race game that looked like this, than actually playing THIS.

I wonder if the game developers even thought twice about this game.

What happened to the Burnout we used to know?

I catually have no problem with Criterion making a title soely based on the crash mode, but if they are going to do that then they need to go back to their roots and not make this top down crap. What they should have done is take the crash mode form Burnout 3, upgrade its visiuals a bit and build on the amazing mode they had already established.

This game looks like an XBLA game for sure. If this is only $15 I may check it out, but no way would I spend anymore then that for this game. Reminds me of the first GTA game. They definitely need to stick with the original Burnout game. The best feature of Burnout is the speeds the cars travel and causing damage on the way to the finish line. This game is all about damage and nothing else.

Not interested in this game, sorry. Please make another Burnout, if EA will let you.

"Burnout 3" was so great that I would have kept my old XBOX just to play it. Then came "Burnout, Takedown" which, while not as good as 3 was good enough cuz it took advantage of the 360 consoles video and sound. Now comes this? I'll take a pass and hope that someone buys the franchise and takes it higher.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This looks like GTA 1 with Blue lobsters, aliens, and no long lasting fun. SMH

this REALLY looks and sounds like it should be an arcade game that you shovel quarters into... not a legitimate console installment of the Burnout series. I never played any of the other Burnouts but I remember watching all the reviews and thought the game looked really cool. But this definitely reminds me of an arcade game. Especially with that casino bleeping noise that spams when you're making money, along with the cheesy announcers. Oh well, hopefully they'll learn from this one.

I played the demo. Felt like it should be a tablet game. Depressing having a controller just being used for one button and one control stick. I also thought the crash mode in Paradise was just... dumb as well, so maybe that crowd would find this enjoyable? I would probably find it enjoyable on a tablet, but there is no reason to sit down at a console and settle for this gameplay. Maybe it was meant to be a good PSN title for the Vita?

i LOVED burnout paradise, and would love a new version of that with a new world, a customize system and new cars. But a topp down version of the crash deal? really! it wasn't that much fun in paradise. I think this is a waste of burnout's recognized name, and Criterion's talent. Please make a game, not a way to make money.

SCREW THIS GAME, it SUCKS! since they're rebooting and remastering game, how about we reboot Burnout 3 and Burnout revenge! That'd be totally worth the money! ^^

battlefrontphil

Give us Burnout Revenge for PS3 and Xbox. We weren't looking for a top-down rehash of the Burnout Paradise crash mode. Most people didn't even like it!

C'mon EA. If you're not going to give us a proper Burnout sequel than atleast give us an HD collection of all the last gen games. You're killing my favorite racer.

Id' rather just play the actual crash mode in Burnout.

paradise and revenge were the only ones that I tried and they both had a certain um... finesse and brutality in them that made each game different. This is pre-marketing to the next game at best.

I can't believe they have the nerves to put Crypto's UFO [from Destroy all Humans] in this Burnout Crash crap and I say this game should be cheap to buy for that matter.

What happened to burnout? Paradise was nowhere near as good as the earlier games, and now UFOs and giant blue lobsters running around? disgraceful.

Crash mode should have been included in Burnout: Paradise in full detail like past Burnout games!
