Don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast using this thing. But I just find myself getting gunned down in the strangest angles.. even if I have the shield up. It also doesn't help that people with these sonic the hedgehog classes can just strafe around me and gun me down as well.

So is there anything you guys can advise so I can get better with this thing or is it just one of those things I need to get used to?

riot shields have never been good due to lag, best thing you can do is hide in a corner with flak jacket and tactical mask or keep your distance then switch to your b23r and kill them when they reload.

When you see one getting close, drop a bouncing betty. Smoke Grenades also help by obscuring your exposed areas. If you fast swap to a fast, powerful, close range pistol as a secondary (primary weapons change a tad too slow), such as dual wield long barrel executioners, you'll blow out most opponents in closed corridors. Flak Jacket, Cold Blood, and Gas Mask will insure that you're a walking tank that won't go down for anything less than bullets.

Also, planting your shield down and hiding a bouncing betty right behind it is a perfectly good strategy; they can't hit or see the bouncing betty from the front withing engineer perk.

EDIT: Also, if your shield is up and they're getting too close, simple mad sprint past them turn around and blast them with Executioners. Chances are they'll empty their clip on you this way. If you swap just when you run past them, chances are they'll hit the shield instead of you while you turn around and blast them with executioners.

Fast hands and stun grenades are your friends. Try the Tac45 or KAP40, no need for akimbo. Use the shield in the right modes, Dom or Hardpoint are great. Trophy systems work great in these modes. LMGs are also sweet when used with the plant function for defending B flag. C4 is the best lethal, though axe can work if you're good. Tilt the shield downward if they shoot your feet, and try to lead them if they strafe; due to lag they're slightly ahead of where it looks like they are.

i love the c4 and trophy system. Nobody taking me out at hq or dom or hardpoint. and c4 is AWESOME with fast hands. They reload, or you go behind a corner real quick toss that ****

It's pretty useless in this game. I swear guns can actually shoot through it so it really offers very little protection plus it lessens your mobility and of course even at point blank range you'll miss with the shield bash 90% of the time and because of how slow it is to reset you'll almost never land two hits unless you flank somebody. I mainly use it in Domination to capture flags people tend to creep up on you more cautiously giving you more time to cap. It was seriously hell getting mine gilded but I somehow pulled it off.

The best weapon to use with it is the Combat Ax it shoots out pretty fast so you can actually do really well if you get good with it.

I dont think you can dual wield long barrel executioners because I Know you can dual wield/anything with the fully automatic pistol.

If you play in Local against bots, the bots WILL shoot your legs and you will go down.

    Flak jacket
    Fast hands
    Tactical mask

    Danger close+2 combat axe

Secondary or another primary (smg). You pick.

Learn where your axe will throw when you tap R2 while holding shield, do that when they stop shooting at you. If they reload switch to your secondary

I need to get in whatever laggy games you shielders are in. I used to shoot at feet or the sides of bodies all the times in MW2 and MW3 against shielders. That's not happening at all in this game.. like.. at all.. I just end up having to turn around because if I start shooting directly, his butt buddy teammate will come out and pick me off (as he should).

It's the opposite for me when I'm shielding.

I'm usually seizing up my target by blocking his bullets until he has to reload or by leading him when suddenly his chum will appear and my 1v1 battle becomes a 2v1 handicap match. I might take out 1 but the other will get me (as he should).
