Industry analyst Michael Pachter says Activision made a mistake deciding to make multiplayer free for Call of Duty
And don´t forget those who only Buy games for multiplayer, other wise they download a pirate copy...if there´s no intention to subscrive it, sales will go down, so...less profit
In a world where a middle income earner can?t afford to pay for gas and electricity its very reasonable for them to say WTF!! Charging us!! For playing their game!! Mr F**k the poor for shares thinks it?s a mistake!! My heart bleeds for that Lambo that you don?t have in your collection!
Do us a favour and reward us for playing your game!
had my wii-u for a day and so far cant connect to the internet so i went out and traded my 360 version of black ops 2 for the wii-u one. i can honestly say from a single player point of view the wii-u version is the one to go for. ive played both the 360 and the ps3 version and the wii-u seems to be running about 15% faster. it seems a bit smoother aswel. the small screen is instantly worth the purchase its like what the vita version wishes it was and now everyone can play zombies on the toilet.
Black Ops 2 nets $1 Billion...Yeh, it sounds like they made a mistake..I'm sure they are crying about that billion in their bank.
Go ahead activision and try and charge people. Then another company will release a COD clone free to play game and kill your business...Proctor is the biggest idiot out there and obviously hasn't seen all these subscription based companies lose money and eventually go free to play because no one wants to pay monthly fees anymore.
fuck that guy hes trying to destroy gaming industry by putting hes asshated ideas on the web and the news fucktarted bicht
Typical businessman who thinks in terms of pure profit not thinking that you'll piss off most of the people who play the game in the first place and already paid for a game system, the game itself, xbox subscription, downloadable content, etc. and have a million other options from which to get their shooter fix & I <3 run-on sentences.
hahah he didnt mention that WoW is losing subscribers. Times are changing and people dont want to be nickel and dimed for their games, How many mmos have come out only to shut down or switch to F2P. I hate this guy, everything he said is is BS. If Activision charged people they wouldnt have anywhere near as many people as they think they would
Being a hardcore CS fan from 1.3 and moving to WoW was a big step for me because I never thought to pay to play online but the outcome sucked me in with the vast story line and gameplay. However, CoD is a horrible game in my opinion and the main reason it has a huge player base is because it is frankly, the easiest FPS you could buy and still enjoy scorestreaks or killstreaks. That is the only factor that makes this game seem fun to me. I for one will not be paying to play this game other than the expensive price tag for the same game they've produced. Only reason I even play are for friends who think this game is the best out there, I'll stick with Far Cry 3 and if all else fails i'll move back to CS due to the fact it's harder to master than CoD, any day. This is a horrible idea to me.
@ac1dcs13 only reason i will play this game is for zombies and when it is on amazon for 10 bucks. I would rather play Uncharted's Multiplayer
As much as I wouldn't want to pay a subscription for COD I like the game so much and would probably do so to play online. From a consumer perspective it sucks, but it probably is a good business model that would generate much revenue.
As a WoW-ee, I see what Pachter is saying. However, the difference between CoD and WoW is that WoW is a deeper game that offers? potentially 100s to 1000s of more gameplay hours than CoD. It takes MUCH longer to actually achieve anything in WoW, whereas with CoD, it's generally more of a game that you can pick up and play. You can unlock all the guns, attachments, prestige, maybe some organized clan matches, zombies, campaign, but that's about it.This takes long, however, it ends. Wow doesn't.
Also, no console game has it's own subscription model like the one he's referring to. Charging a sub IS the mistake because, maybe all the hardcore CoDers would still buy it, however, most of the casual players would not and then the game would lose a big chunk of its population. They might end up being more profitable afterwards, but the big "if" is if they're able to retain enough of? those hardcore players. Personally, I don't buy CoD anymore and this would make the choice a lot easer.
Industry analyst. When ever I hear that tittle, I just think, money grubbing mother Fu?ker. They just broke the record for a billion dollars. Really? They should charge more? You want to milk that skeleton cow dry don't you? Let just put this in prospective for you Michael. When the government wants to raise taxes on you analyst ass, all you do is wine. Awe not fair..... Now you want "tax" the shit out of gamers. You hypocritical bastard.
I don't think he WANTS it to happen, but his point is that if Activision wanted to, they easily could make WAY more money because people would pay throughout the year to play COD multiplayer. He even calls Activision "greedy pigs". You also don't even know this guy or you definitely wouldn't have thought that he'd feel that way.
For some reason I get pissed when people say WoW belongs to Activision and they do not mention Blizzard.
We payed like 70 bucks for the damn game. We fully expect to be able to play however long we bloody want.
@gun_blade25 Exactly. WoW hosts/hosted a peak of 12 million subscribers. They provide amazing customer support and dish out updates and patches constantly in order to keep the game maintained and balanced. CoD doesn't nearly have the service expenses that are required to keep WoW going.
WoW players pay for subs because they know that they're getting a lot of value back from Blizz/Activision. With CoD you can't expect as much post-purchase support because the game is meant for it. It doesn't need nearly as much maintenance and support as WoW. It's just an initial box sale + the extra DLC if you want it.
In order for a sub model to be justified with CoD, it would need to start offering a lot more in terms of post-purchase content.
@gun_blade25 Yeah. That's why they "need to make up for it", supposedly. IKR. LAWL.
It's bad enough now paying full price for a broken PS3 version that randomly lags and freezes up, if they're gonna charge for MP they better prepare to lose a hell of a lot of customers then. Sure some fan's will stick with it but I think more will simply just play another shooter that isn't intent on ripping them off, there's a reason why WoW's number's are dwindling compared to previous year's because people realize they can play a similar (or better) game without an annual fee attached.
