Was CoD3 really that bad?

    I've never played it before, but I'm always hearing people say that it was trash. Was it really THAT bad?

    The campaign was the weakest of the current gen CoDs, crazy long checkpoint intervals with loads of suicidal spots between them, pretty restricted compared CoD2 and even CoD4, it was only set in Normandy (it was a pretty tired choice at that time) and loads of really irritating Wii-style gimmicks that just didn't add anything to the game.

    i played all the cods and it's the one that i can't remember anything about. the previous treyarch (french for trainwreck) game before bland ops (waw, i think) also quite forgettable.

    WAW had some great moments - mainly gory dismemberments with an MG or mortars - but the levels were definitely "meh". Corridor-based bullet & nade spam.

    Nothing like, say, MW which was innovative - changes of pace and environment, great characterisation, etc.

    The campaign is probably the second worst in the series (after MW3). It was full of bugs and glitches like getting stuck in walls. The mutiplayer was actually pretty good. The best in the series up to that point.

    I wanted to write something but Halo_Forever said it already.
    In short the game looked like every other WW2 shooter, and there's been a truckload of these back in the day.
    The "tilt your sixaxis to melee" features (which were absent on 360 obviously) were fresh for the first 2 encounters.

    I only played the Wii version. The thing that made it "worse COD" was the crappy Wii controls. I'm sure its better on the other systems but I just remember being incredibly frustrated with the weird controls.
