Call of Duty: World at War User Review
It's hard to believe this is the fifth game in the series. It feels like a wild step backwards compared to CoD4.

Generally speaking I've enjoyed the CoD games but when I got to this one, admittedly, I just felt like I was playing the same game I've been playing before. It's nice they wanted to tie up the WWII experience and everything but by this episode things have just gotten fairly stale. Even more, the graphics are just average and so much about this game makes you feel like they didn't put in the time required to really make this one stand out. As a result, you get tired, frustrated, and just saddened that such a great series has, in many ways, fallen backwards with this episode.
It's hard to believe that in a fifth game of a series there are still issues with poor targeting at various times along with hideously stupid AI that is often completely out of touch with what is going on in the game. Just sending more and more troops is not a useful tactic if they just sit there stupidly and, in many cases, can just be pegged off with little to no strategy.
The "on rails" setup is also incredibly disappointing to see in this one as often you'll run into a situation only to, literally, run into some type of wall that prevents you from getting closer to the action. In these cases you just feel like you're at a carnival with a toy gun shooting cans off of fake barrels. In the age of gaming that we're in such poor development choices really hinder the intended feel of a game. More, it only enhances the reality that intentionality and forethought was not sufficiently put into the game's development.
If you're a die hard CoD fan then, most certainly, you have to play this one. However, if you've been playing these games through the series you'll be hard pressed to find this one worth the money. Definitely rent it first rather than spend a bunch of cash on it like I did. It's just not worth it.

Although not much has fundamentally changed since CoD4, WaW feels fresh enough thanks to a grim atmosphere and setting.

Took some time to make another Hellsing playercard emblem for the PC version of Call of Duty Black Ops, in this tutorial I show you how you can create AlucarD, as always you must unlock all 12 layers first and buy all the neccessary stencils first.Posted Feb 20, 2011
