This game got my attention...

Typically I don't pay attention to the Castlevania games, mostly because I usually suck at 2D versions of them, and any 3D ones I play are either too difficult for me to get good at, or just plain don't jive with me for whatever reason...the last one I played being Lament of Innocence...and I pretty much ignored the first Lords of Shadow Demo/Game for the most part (no offense to fans, I didn't know what to expect of it).
But this game...
Something's different about this game.
I know it's not really the first time you get to play as someone with Vampiric powers or anything but...it's not really JUST that that got my attention.
A Vampire in modern times...just really really strikes me as interesting.
That and the fact he actually DOES the hammy quote from Symphony of the Night...just wow...

We don't know how the modern setting works in this game yet though. Some speculate that half of it takes place in modern times and the other half is flashbacks of the past, and it's likely that even the modern setting won't be merely on streets and in cities.
We don't know yet, so I wouldn't get my hype-dial cranked too much until we get some more information.

Assuming the full game takes place in the castle like MoF, taking place in modern day really wont make much of a difference.
Playing as Dracula will definitely be beyond awesome, however.

Unless he plays like Alucard in SotN, with a two-inch sword that he can swing at a rate of once per every three seconds. No wonder he was always so pissed - he flunked out of fencing school, ha ha!
But seriously, Alucard rocks. I prefer the whip-toting Belmonts, but Alucard was a great change of pace from the prior 5 whip-wielders.

Well, if the combat in LoS and MoF is any indication, we're probably looking at fairly fast-paced combos again, thankfully.
So far we've seen his red whip from E3 2012, and his sword from the 2012 VGAs. I'm guessing the whip will be used for grapples, area attacks, and swinging across gaps, while the sword will be used for direct attacks and finishing blows. Mist and drinking blood are pretty much guaranteed too I'd say, probably in a fashion similar to Laura. Then hopefully some fireballs/lightning thrown in for good measure.
It should be fun, to say the least.

TC, aren't you going to at least play the original Castlevania Lords of Shadow?
The game's great.
