Here's the official trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate for Nintendo 3DS.
I just want a traditional castlevainia... I like the Metroidvania style, I wanna break my lanterns for hearts and items. I wanna find secret walls/floors/ceilings that I can break. I wanna run back and forth through a big castle that is just one large map with secrets to find and powers to obtain.... Just give me a REAL Castlevania and please for the love of god get rid of Mercurysteam, they are doing terrible things to this IP... Lords of Shadow is a tragedy. Let them make a new IP with their ideas, don't them stomp all over a great one that is already established. At least the Castlevania games on the DS were still great... This one looks better than that crap Lords of Shadow on the consoles but it still looks so untrue to the source material that it makes me want to shed a tear. As much as I want to buy this game I don't know if I can after playing the demo... I just feel that its not a Castlevania game really at all other than the characters they used, the game play just doesn't capture that Castlevania game feel.
FINALLY a new Castlevania that looks promising and it's for a dead handheld. Stop making old smash hits into handheld throwaways please.
"Enough talk... Have at you!"
Were they also having "miserable little pile of secrets" conversation?
Why is this game only for 3ds....what about the vita? can someone give some feedback?? thanks!!!
@fedetaco Hi I'd like to share with you the reason why the game is not going to be available in vita, its because of the strategy of Nintendo, truth is they could not match sony's console graphics thus in order to boost sells they made a deal with game makers like Capcom and other well known campanies that they would provide FREE console (3DS) so that they could utilize the units capabilities and in term they only make games for 3DS, this would be also the reason why Monster Hunter 3G will only be available for 3DS
As a classic Castlevania fan, I actually don't like this new direction at all. The graphics are incredibly generic and don't really seem to suit the 3DS well, and the game-play looks like a side-scrolling knock-off of God of War. I appreciate the fact that they tried to do something different with Castlevania, since the metroidvania formula's been done and done, but subjecting the series to the status-quo of generic "next-gen" action games is a bad move. Yet again, it's a completely different studio from the original Castlevania team, so this was expected. I personally would have liked a Super Castlevania sequel....
@Gargaglio5tatus and when has graphics ever been that important in past Castlevania games. I guess Lament of Innocense was a knock of God of War too huh.... oh wait.
This game still seems sketchy to me it needs refinement...though I will say it looks better than it did at e3 2012.
I sure hope it takes 5,000,000 hits to kill a normal enemy, like Lords of Shadow...
@Heavenly_King tbh unless you see the graphics on the 3ds screen through demo, trailer or game you cant judge it right. Cause the way it comes out looks different..
While I'm not really a fan of Lords of Shadow, I'm really digging the platforming sequences of this game, a demo would be nice to confirm how much I want it, but so far I'd get it as soon as I could.
@nunchuk28 What I would rather have is a hard release date it was originally slated for this fall but it was pushed back to 2013 not to mention this has been the only other trailer we've had since E3 2012 since both this game and LoS 2 were absent from TGS 2012.
Pass! ever since Castlevania release a 3d platform the game become crap I really like the old school one like Castlevania:SON,Dawn&Aria of Sorrow every 2d platform of it
@Ryoushi06 Umm they went 3d on n64 before some of those ds games came out and NO your a metroidvania fan not a full castlevania fan. I highly doubt you play castlvania 1,2,or 3 on the nes.
No IGA 3DS Castlevania games means the 3DS is missing potentially its greatest games.
The game doesn't seem to run fluidly. I hope that gets fixed for the full release, apart from that, it might be good.
Loved the wink to Castlevania SotN at the end: "But enough talk, have at you"
@federomeo18 the cheesy dialogue in that game was a delight much in the veins of the original Resident EVil "you almost became a Jill sandwich" lmao or "I hope this is not Chris's blood" never gets old
If I had a 3ds I would definitely get this. But still not worth to get 3ds just for two games that I actually want to play with it.
I just want new Alucard game !!!
SOTN 2 where he is the main honcho again ,not a cheap unlock-able extra to increase sales.
I dont much care for Belmonts and any other characters . Its Alucard all the way .
Im surprised how well konami develop him and knows how popular he is and still he has not got another starring role in a game.
Its time to bring him back and Ayami Kojima artwork with it. Consoles are powerful enough and even more so next gen ones, why not just use her style fully in game anf make it dark gothic fest like SOTN.
It no Brainer for me.
Instead we get these bland revenge seeking angst idiots fit for Twilight and its fanbase.
Come on Konami indulge us in proper Alucard game .
@lulababy so true AlucarD is my fav character from any Castlevania game, I also like Soma Crus or Shanoah but damn AlucarD is the best he deffinetley needs to come back and also Ayami Kojima dark gothic artwork, her style is so unique and beautiful its and important part of the castlevania games, also loved her artwork from the PS2 curse of darkness, heel I actually only like curse of darkness because of the kickass soundtrack and her artwork of course :D
While I liked LoS I didn't really get a Castlevania feeling from the game it felt more like it was trying to get an epic tale feeling with combining aspects from Shadows of the Colossus and God of War (my older brother has even made the same claim, "Yeah its cool Patrick Stewarts in this and all but it just feels like I'm playing God of War; it doesn't remind me of Castlevania at all, well besides some of the monsters."). I don't know why but Curse of Darkness and Lament of Innocence felt more like Castlevania to me than LoS did; you could literally take the name Belmont out of Gabriel and no one would be the wiser that LoS had anything to do with Castlevania.
While I hope Koji Igarashi gets back on board for at least the 25th anniversary project of Castlevania (that is if Konami is still doing it? Mentioned once at E3 '11 never spoken ever again). Though I still have my doubts on that, I can only wonder now what is IGA's status at Konami?
@Spartan-1775 LoS was pretty solid in my books it had great score, awesome script and dialogue by Patrck Stewart and Robert Carlyle and an epic story, the only thing that bothered me was the gameplay and dumb quick tie events, other thgan that it was okay for a castlevania game, much better than curse of darkness or lamment of innocence
@Printul_Noptii I'm not saying the game is bad, what I am saying is it doesn't "feel" like Castlevania it feel's like its something different that just has Castlevania in the title along with Gabriel's last name being Belmont to tie it into the franchise. It doesn't feel like it has Castlevania's soul into it. While you can just look at Curse of Darkness and Lament of Innocence and immediately say yeah that's Castlevania. I'm not trying to dispute which game is better over the other I'm more or less concerned with the reboot of the series trying to find Castlevania's identity. I know Dave Cox has said in interviews he wants to do more of a throwback to the NES games in the series instead of doing something like Symphony of the Nights though I don't get that feeling either I mean I've played literally just about every Castlevania game even the gameboy ones (Adventure, Belmonts Revenge, Legends) I just can't recognize the franchise as it once was anymore. Though I'll just have wait and see considering I will more then likely get this game along with LoS2.
@Spartan-1775 @Printul_Noptii i don't know what your talking about the gothic style of the castle in lords of shadow and the swamp level in the beginning reminded me a lot of old school Castlevanias, I think the only reason it didn't feel like castlevania to you was because the music was missing. Sorry bro but that's what your really complaining about.
