Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 User Review
Superb Potential wasted on extremely silly gameplay, annoying plot, lame game mechanics and end in disaster. Wasted!!!

What can I say, Red Alert 2 is one of the best game I've ever played. I was impressed by the game good graphics, slightly cheesy but overall good storytelling, and superb multiplayer battle. This on my collection list and I was anticipating that Red Alert 3 will do the same.
Sadly, it doesn't!
Red Alert 3 for me is the worst of the Command and Conquer Series(slightly better than Command and Conquer 4 Tiberium Twilight). I don't understand, why the hell EA uses such a wonderful game engine with superb shading, bloom and decided to do this, HEY! Lets make an RTS game with a parody! Lets make it fun so everybody can enjoy cartoon violence!
Seriously if you wanted RTS game to be truly good, follow one Rule: War is Hell! There no such thing as War is Childplay! I don't understand why wasted such huge potential in such a lame game?!?
Here are my list for my rating of this game:
Graphics: 9.0
This game featured one of the best graphic since Tiberium War, its shading, bloom effect is considered advanced. The water detailed and sinking units can be seen underwater, units are well shade, terrain are well detailed, I can say the graphic was a major improvement to the already well done game engine in Tiberium War. The graphic fell fresh and stylish yet feeling a sense of excitement during major battle.
Music: 8.5
The music featured in Red Alert 3 is good, although there are better music featured in other games. Red Alert 3 music fits the game theme well. I enjoy listening the Red March and other russian faction music. The audio in game is well made, no buzzing or squickish sound if volume turn on to the maximum. EA did well to ensure the music doesn't ended up like Crysis, where buzzing sound exploded when volume is turned to the max.
Sadly, all goodness end there......
Gamplay: 4.0
The gameplay is an absolute crap! I seen worst game such as Stalin Versus Martian, but EA decided to take it to the next step, sure for some gamer is cute and fun to watch weird and interesting looking units. But then, why doing that on a major game, I was anticipated the alternate version world where cool airplanes, massive, intimidating battle tanks roar on the battle battelfield, this game doesn't!?! How the hell a successor of Tiberium War ended up like that? Units look like cartoons character, planes look like you drawn out form a 7 year old child, tanks look like toys you can pick up from market. I don't understand, USA got superb modeling program such as Autodesk Maya and 3D Max and all they produced are last second(not minute!) project work? I've been modelling an M1A2 Abram using 3D Max and was shock in disbelieve that EA will show its lame looking units! Why EA? Why?
Storytelling/Plot: 4.5
This is the game worst part, all the plot deosn't make any sense. And EA decided to compasate from their extermely lame plot by having well known actors dress is strippriffic uniform and possed in front of every player screen, which is definitely an eye candy. But still, lame is lame. The story plot is so bad that I actually never complete any of the campaign, it just the feeling of wanting to puke over such lame storytelling. EA, shame on you for making the story an absolute mess. In fact, the only thing from keeping the score lowered any further are the hot chicks featured in game, Sigh. Shame on you EA.
Here is the biggest reason the game was save from a sledgehammer
Multiplayer: 8.0
I think that despite for the crappy, silly looking units, the multiplayer is quite compatitive, and fun and challenging to compete thanks to the recent patch that balance it out. I wish the game was better cause the multiplayer was a joy ride
Mod: 9.0(Not included)
Recent time, many player are annoyed by the crappy game unit designa nd decided to make thier own. I've seen, download and played those mods. And those mod are the reason Red Alert 3 engines shines at its best. It was also Red Alert 3 biggest salvation. Try searching them and eventually you will understand what I am talking about. Now I understand why the hell they actually made the tanks with less polygon on a unit, cause it was available to more than one platform, and believe me, the PC version with mod friendly make the PC version superior then most ports
Overall 7.0
Not a game of total crap, but still its bad. If not for its well made game engines, music and the modding available in game, I will probably sell it or simply give away as Christmas present for its extremely lame storyline and crappy gameplay units.
Whats even heartbreaking that EA didn't even learn that lesson and followed the same principle to create one of the worst RTS game in the Command & Conquer Series of all time: C&C 4 Tiberium Twilight.......

Nice gameplay revamp of a classic with a lot of cheesiness.

Since the first Red Alert, RA3 continues the story, but the cartoonish graphics make it seem unreal.

Looked to me like a 2 year old child's Cartoon Book - made worse by adding real life people in - pffftt disappointment
