Would you buy a 3DS (if you don't already have one)?

My brother has one, but I'd probably pick up a red XL just for this game and Code of Princess.

By the way, what are the chances of seeing Conduit on 3DS? They had the tech demo working pretty well, and they said it was an easy job porting it over.

No. I'm getting a 3DS for other games, but not Conduit 3DS. That doesn't mean I won't at least try the game out, but it won't be the sole reason I buy a 3DS.

I've had a 3DS since launch basically and I have like 3 games for it. I'd love to get something else good to play and this could help.

I have a 3DS already, but sadly Conduit 3DS isn't gonna happen. The series probably died when Conduit 2 sold less than 100k in a year--notice that the tech demo came before Conduit 2 launched.

I've emailed High Voltage myself asking about Conduit 3DS, and they basically gave me a version of "no comment". I'm gonna go cry now.

all hope isn't gone, just think about it. handheld development costs far less than console development, and people care less about it so there's less stress to meet deadlines. They also said it was very easy to port. Not to mention if they did make it and put it on the eShop, they'd have a monopoly on 3DS FPS', and bypass the need for a publisher. After this, they could port it onto the Wii U eShop, and from one game have two flows of income, their game would be cheaper than the competition and be downloadable.
    ____
Include a 'classic' multiplayer mode where you pick up weapons on map (of course, to compensate for no perks, they'd all be buffed with more damage, better hipfire accuracy, higher explosion radius, etc depending on the gun), the explosive weapon set is removed or the SMAW is a hard to find on map pick up (seriously, everyone spawns with a SMAW? was this some kind of inside joke at HVS?), the USP stays in it's current form (it was OP in TCon) and is always the secondary.
From there, port the C2 MP formula and weapon balancing for a 'modern' mode with a few new maps and maybe another prime map or two, do some more bug and hack fixing, give us some NON INTRUSIVE use for the touchscreen or for the Wii U version let us use the Wiimotes to shoot circles around the GamePad noobs and put it in 1080p.
    ___
They'd have made all Conduit fans happy and the 3DS owners who want an online FPS would buy the game. Not to mention since it will have dual analog and motion control (or touchscreen for the 3DS version), all the stupid reviewers will treat the motion control mode like some kind of joke and play it with dual analog, so their main complaint that they don't know how to use their arms and wrists without doing giant, spasmodic movements would be gone.
man, that's a lot of words.

That's a pipe dream. I doubt they can release a full length game with Wii-level graphics as a 3DS download. I also have a hard time imagining it's cheaper to make games on a 3DS cartridge than a disc. They're gonna need a publisher if they want to put Conduit on 3DS.

The Wii U might be a different story, but only time will tell.

No, portable development is cheaper. I'm not sure about the space for a downloadable game on the 3DS, so I can't say anything about that. and the Wii U will support downloading of full games so no question of that. and I said it was possible, not likely.

The NewSuper Mario Bro's 2 3D will be available as cart or download, it's also suppose to have downloadable levels via gold rush...As far as a multiplayer FPS though....I don't know how taxing that would be. The new 3DS XL has a memory card with a butt ton of space, I can see it replacing current cards as DL's with alot of info become more common. Didn't the PSP go discless awhile back before it was replaced by the vita?

As far as Wii level graphics on the 3DS...I'd say they are already similar.

I was thinking more along the lines of the actual manufacturing of the physical media. Check this out though:

“... if developers decide to try and maximize the graphical powers of the [3DS], then the cost would be more expensive than what it is currently for Nintendo DS and may potentially approach the cost of developing Wii software. “
    http://www.siliconera.com/2010/06/22/3ds-development-costs-may-approach-wii-levels/

With a graphical powerhouse like Conduit, it'd cost them nearly as much as a Wii game.

the 3DS and Wii being so similar in power is why the porting for the tech demo was so easy, according to HVS.

Later versions of the PSP also had a 20GB hard drive, if I recall correctly. High Voltage isn't going to bet on their audience having gigs of memory to devote to their game.
