Maxwell McGee checks out the gameplay and economy of CSGO but can't stop getting shot by his nemesis.
hmmm wtf is up with the crosshair? too much going on, maybe something to just get used to. Also like everyone else has been saying, thumbs up on the crossplat valve.
Valve seriously needs to upgrade their source engine. While the game will be fun, without a doubt, the graphics are terrible. If they ever make a Half Life 3, it had better look better than what we're seeing now.
I'm not crazy about the cross hairs in this new installment of the game. They should have a choice of cross hair to choose from. There was nothing wrong with the cross hairs in Source. Also, the m4 in this game doesn't look right. why does it look different from the past counter strike titles? it looks like a short barrel m4 and doesn't look cool. It doesn't look like fun to shoot either. And there should still be a silencer option for the m4. if it's not broken, don't fix it. Source looks like it plays and feels better than Global Offensive. I hope the developers look at this more closely and make the right changes.
R.I.P cod and bf3 R.I.P console....im buying a new gaming pc :D.... i used to "hate pc" for the price and for the reability.........BUT for this game i have no choice (coming from a ps3/console "fan")...i will keep my ps3 4 amazing ps3 exclusive but that it :P
Used to love counterstrike, but when I played it the other day I just couldn't do it. It felt to old (even the source version) and the controls felt chunky and un-responsive. I've obviously gotten used to playing more quality games since. Not having a go at the game, its still a classic but thats all it is now. Perhaps the game needs to be remade entirely with new levels game modes and modern graphics.
Wait... so I won't be able to join my favorite server and play as the reigning king of that server if there are too many newer players? And likewise, I won't be able to join a server where players are FAR better than me, giving me a chance to really improve?
@01-cannon-mpc Counter Strike has a very distinct style with non-regenerating health, no instant respawn, no leveling system, no iron sight, etc. If you have trouble playing without an ironsight there are infinite alternatives: Battlefield, Call of Duty, Homefront, MAG, etc. I personally find Counter Strike a much more intense and terrifying experience than modern shooters and it's an excellent change of pace. The reason the Xbox 360 does not have cross platform play with Valve games is because Microsoft will not let Valve use their own server. Since the PC is not bound by any major corporation and Sony lets developers use whatever servers they want, cross platform gaming between PC and PS3 systems are therefore possible. This is also the reason Valve cannot release free updates for Team Fortress 2 on Xbox 360, even though they have free updates for PC and PS3.
And i HATE valve for not and other devs for NOT allowing the player to shoot using the iron sight like any other modern shooter. Because i think thats how its done.
@krex85 Lol i know CS was created way way before left 4 dead, played em for years, what im saying is that this version of CS is a mod of L4D, same graphics, same gameplay. I know L4D is similar to CSS as its all the same engine, cept you can see the difference between them, All thats different between this CS and L4D is skins and the HUD. Still back to my first comment, Why are the graphics worse than L4D and even CSS.
@devastation913 Did you not listen? There will be cross platform match making so PS3 players will be playing along side PC players. But saying it will prove PC gamers are better is a silly thing to say because its not that theyr better its just that the mouse and keyboard makes it easier to be faster and more accurate than with a gaming controller, its nothing to do with skill. And these days there will be many of us highly skilled PS3 players that will be able to outplay alot of PC gamers.
@SDSkarface What the hell did that comment have to do with anything? PC and console players don't play against each other online.
There are plenty great gamers that can play very well with a controller, and, although mouse and keyboard might have a better precision, but it can be confusing during a frantic action and you push the wrong button on the keyboard. I believe it will be nice the cross platform, means bigger community and more players.
@krex85 Truthfully the original CS was a mod, it was a mod of Half-Life for PCs. So yes the original CS was a mod.
Don't believe me? All one needs to do is a brief search right here on Gamespot for counterstrike and you'd see that it (the original CS) originally was called Half-Life:Counterstrike. source: http://www.gamespot.com/search.html?qs=Counterstrike&tag=masthead%3Bsearch
Truer words could not have been said "this game looks like alot of fun". For all the people that are knocking the game already, your loss. counter strike has always been a lot of fun.
@Ashman555 no...CS came long before L4D, and CSS was of the first three games to use the source engine, so if any game would be a mod of another it would be L4D being a mod of CSS, CSGO is just running on an updated version of the source engine, not anything to do with L4D.
Looking forward to this. CS expanding to other platforms without giving up what it is, is sweet. @chechak7 Sucks when there's no shortcut to perfect aim, huh? As Heavy would say, "CRY SOME MOAR."
@Lash540:O..i thought people meant like actual mod cheating stuff :P. I get confused alot with that...
at least one thing for sure will be decided.. that PC gamers are really better. cant wait for the BS3 fanboy crying.
"no auto-aim" for consoles on cross-platform play? the guy on the PS3 would have to be REALLY good in order to play with the PC gamers...
Looks good, they seem to really make a counter-strike and not mess around with the IP, but still added new cool features. It does look like (as in áll VALVe games) like your floating around, not walking. I hate that, personally.
@namdar - Counter-Strike is a classic competitive game. Why wouldn't you want that? Why would you say this is a waste of time? Half-Life is neat but its not as fun as something like Counter-Strike which inspired thousands to create their own maps, game types, and skins. Not to mention the clans that are formed because of this game.
@reyace - Mods are things like custom maps, custom player models, and custom game types all made by the players. Don't confuse cheating with mods.
@MEDzZE3O I understand that a select minority within the cosole population are so amazing with a controller that they could stomp a PC gamer's keyboard and mouse set up. However, I want to emphasize that accuracy wise, with no auto-aim, a mouse keyboard set up is significantly superior for the average player. Also, I do understand that the PS3 can use a mouse and keyboard but I sincerely don't believe the majority of players will use them because most consoles, unlike PCs, are used in living rooms where finding a comfortable spot for a mouse and keyboard becomes trickier. I understand you're going to win the "thumbs up battle" because people love to root for the underdog and the people who empathize with them but the argument I've presented you is simply the more realisitic scenario.
I like how alot of people complain that there might be no mods to do...well you know what...GOOD!!! Mods are for noobs(unless if it is to make your gun a different style or your character, etc). Only cheaters use mods that you shoot through walls or fly around or even have unlimited ammo. Yes i know it is very much so fun to do it(speaking from experience), but Ps3 vs PC players? i am a ps3 player and i really want to try head on, no cheats, glitches, nothing. Just Ps3 vs PC players fairly!
Man... nothing special here... There is Combat Arms , War Rock , Valiant Arms that all do the same as this game and are free. I've been playing CS since the early alpha build back in the days of half life. Sure any game deserves a facelift... but man.... how bout they put some effort in coming out with episode 3 for half life 2 instead of this.... Just wasted time...
I'm definitely getting the beta. I've always played CS on the PC, but its the only PC game I play. Sure will be amazing on trying it out on my PS 3.
Looks like some really good old school fun. The casual mode sounds quite good too for people who don't want to take things as seriously, sometimes I just don't want to bother myself about money.
i have a question here my english is not 100/100 perfect but if i have understand well ps3 player will be able to play versus pc player?!?!....if it yes i amazing i allway wanted this kind of thing and it will be a plus for the ps3 player because i guess the pc version will have more player and more player = more fun
@jmace1 Plenty of PS3 and console gamers in general do turn auto-aim off when given the chance, a considerable amount also use PC-esque 3rd party controllers such as the Frag FX shark..etc.., it works well. On a plus side not only does this game put you in a server based on skill but PS3 gamers can play Counterstrike using move or a mouse and keyboard if they so wish. I feel a lot of PC gamers don't give console gamers the respect they deserve, sure you get the casuals but you get quite a few top notch players as well. It's like the old control pad vs fightstick debate the fighting community always have, in professional tournaments I've seen many control pad users take fightstick users to school. It's not the peripheral that's important it's how you use it.
