Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition User Review
- Difficulty:
- Very Hard
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Boring"
This game is trying too hard to be an old NES game. It tries to be super difficult and present a challenge, but instead it comes off as being a lame game about memorization and trial and error. I don't like games where I am forced to die over and over again because they want me to keep fighting in this trivial fight system.
Imagine Zelda, except you only get 1 heart the whole game, you never get to go outside, you never get to ride a horse, you never get to upgrade your weapons/gear, you never get new weapon types, the monsters are all the same excluding bosses, and there is no secrets worth finding. Sounds like a fun Zelda or what?
The silliest part is, they have an xp and lvling system (souls). It just doesn't really make you any stronger whatsoever. You are not any stronger after playing this game for 70 hours compared to how you were on hour 1. I don't see the point in an rpg where you don't get stronger, the point is to get powerful and take on stronger and more enemy's. This doesn't happen in this game, almost everything is a 1 hit kill. There is no fun in trial and error of this type. This game is nothing but a time sink.

Immensely imaginative, intensely immersive, but irksome and inaccessible, Dark Souls is a bit like heroin.

One of the best games ever played, Oldschool hard game not like nowadays games that you end in 1day.
