Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition User Review
Game is great, almost perfect. The only problem is the Multiplayer. 90% of the time you try to summon it fails (PC)

- Difficulty:
- Very Hard
- Time Spent:
- 100 or More Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Almost, but not quite"
This game is Great, it offers something that games of our current time lack, and that is a Challenge. Other than that, the game has a Great story that can only be uncovered if you pay close attention to detail, item descriptions, conversations with NPCs and much more.
Before i go on, i will explain why if the game is so great, i give it a 9.0 instead of a 10
Pros:
- The game offers a Challenge
if you are not careful, you will die in the blink of an eye
- Rich in lore
Even if the lore in the game is well hidden, it is rich in lore, its just not explained in the traditional way. You have to read item descriptions , Talk with NPCs, Defeating bosses, etc...
- Replay value
The game it self gets harder every time you beat it, which means that no matter how good you get at the game, it will still offer a bigger challenge each time, and not only that, you start as low as level 1, with a level cap of 700+
- Multiplayer
The multiplayer is Great, there are different types of way you can interact with other players. for example:
It allows you to Co-op with friends (as a phantom Via the White Soap Stone, an item that leaves a summon sign on the ground that allows other people to summon you as a white phantom to help out the summoner)
PvP (player versus player) matches VS random players (Via Red orb, blue orb, used to forcefully invade the world of a player as a red phantom)
summon a specific player (Via Red Soap Stone, an item that leaves a summon sing on the ground that other players can use to summon you as a red phantom for a Duel)
and many more
- Graphics
The scenery, the ammount of detail added into this game is significant enough to add to the pros
On the PC version, there are mods that take this even further, an example is the DSfix mod that allows you to play in 1080p instead of 720p, and other type of mods that increase the frame rates to 60 fps, etc.
Cons:
- Multiplayer
Even though this game offers the ability to Co-op, it can only be done if you are in the level range of the player you are trying to co-op with (10 levels below or above + 10% of your current level) an example of this could be... you are level 100, meaning that you could potentially co-op with someone as low as level 80 or as high as 120
On the PC version, Summoning an enemy for Co-op or dueling will fail 90% of the time("summoning Failed" message will pop up)
Also on the PC version, hackers are common, meaning that you will run into people with unlimited stats such as health, effectively ruining your game
- Game breaking Bugs on the PC version
There is a specific bug (100% preventable) that can halt game progression to a full stop with no way to continue
it involves an NPC called Ingward, if you kill him, you wont get a key needed to continue your story. Luckily you can prevent this bug from happening by simply NOT killing the NPC. There is no reason to kill him in the first place, so it wont stop anything else from happening.
- On the PC version, The configuration is set for an Xbox360 controller, Mouse and keyboard are NOT recommended at ALL!
The game was basically "Copy/pasted" on PC, so basically, the Asylum "tutorial area" will be hard to understand as it tells you to for example:
Press LT to Parry and RB to Riposte
Use LB to Block with a shield or cast miracles/sorceries/Pyromancies with X item equipped
The Reason why i give this game a 8.5 out of 10 is because of the PC version Multiplayer problems and GFWL (Games for windows live) doing nothing to stop hackers, even though From Software already Aknowledged said problems and is planning to fix this on the near (or far) future.

If you can see past the flaws, you'll find an amazingly deep, and addictive RPG.
