Dark souls is indescribably awesome it has great bosses at every corner and a huge number of spells and items to choose from.
Beginning The Game:
At the beginning of the game there is a cut-scene that just shows what a great game dark souls is there are messages on the floor that tell you each attack and how to do it. The first boss fight starts usually within only five minutes of starting the game! There are now 'bonfires' which is kind of like a save point except all enemies respawn. But thankfully your spells and pyromancies are filled to the maximum amount. some may struggle even at the beginning but some may find it easy. there are traps all throughout the game starting at the beginning.
The beginning of the game shows what the game is going to be like and is an extremely good way of making people know what there in for. WARNING! Once finishing the very beginning part of dark souls you will want to stop as it is highly addictive.
NPC's:
The developers have included some really helpful NPC's (non player characters) into this game which you meet upon exiting the undead asylum. There help ranges from giving you information on what you need to do (but they don't do it where it makes it obvious and extremely easy), giving you weapons, giving you spells and pyromancies and allowing you to reinforce your weapons and armor.
Bosses:
There are twenty-two bosses throughout the game ten of which are optional but even some optional bosses are hard to skip the bosses that the developers have created are unbelievably imaginative that range from big to small and most are demon based bosses but some are just a creation that has no classification.
Magic:
Thankfully in this game there is magic which can actually make the game much easier but you will have to choose the right one which is obviously pyromancy all the others seem useless to me.
My experience with this game (contains spoilers if you haven't played or completed this game before):
First hour :
I see a body, then realise it is an item then I open the door and ascend the stairs I then ascended a ladder and saw a big door I go through the door move forward and see a massive boss I was hitting him but then 5 seconds later I saw a gate; I went through the gate descended some stairs and saw a mmessage saying get your shield so I did and did what everyone else did collected my weapon went to the first boss and did a plunging attack and killed him on my first try so I was pleased.
In the firelink shrine I went up some stairs and pretty much decided to dodge all enemy attacks then went to the Taurus demon and used the climbing up the ladder trick and used lightning on my hand axe and killed him first try. Now I'm 23 minutes through and I'm thinking this is easy then somehow unlike some people In discussion forms online I knew where to go it's pretty obvious to me and now I''m at the bell gargoyles and it took me 6 tries which took up 20 minute of my time then I look at the trophies list notice it says ring the bell in quisling's domain so I remembered what that NPC said to me and I went to blight town found quelaag and on the hour I died for the 2nd time. This goes beyond the first hour but It took me fifteen tries to kill this boss.
For the next hours I will just do an overview:
Killed all bosses including optional took me 23 hours and found all pyromancies
And levelled up to level 59
On Gwyn I found a combustion technique to defeat him.
Overall this game is one you imagine and dream but don't expect to ever be created people will thrive upon it's difficulty and will be playing for hundreds of hours and always find new things along the way.
This should have been RPG of the year 2011; I think gamespot made a big mistake here and I hope they regret it.
IT IS THE REBIRTH OF ROLEPLAYING GAMES!!!!!!!!!

I can't put this game down! It challenges the player in unique ways that no other game has before.
