Dark Souls User Review
- Difficulty:
- Very Hard
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Mixed reactions"
Dark Souls is as you all ready know a very hard game but I have no problem with this fact because that's why I bought it to be challenged and be rewarded with a great felling of victory and it lives up to that promise most of the time, but I still have a few problems with Dark Souls.
To start off with what I don't like I will make a list of statements that will tell you what won't factor in this review.
-The story
-Online play (Because I didn't even bother looking up anything about it)
-The lack of a difficulty setting (Because that would really just make Dark Souls lose it's very menacing charm)
-How much it is loved
Now that out of the way I will make one more statement, I do not want anyone to think I am not speaking truthfully about my opinion and that this is only my opinion and I don't what to force my view on others I just want it to be considered as all review should be seen and not to offend people (Unlike some people.)
Now the graphics in Dark Souls are for the most part truly amazing with the amazing attention to detail and an atmosphere that gives the game a sense of doom and dread you rarely see in media (Truly breathtaking at times.) But some time Dark Souls can be just… just plain ugly, and I mean UGLY not the cool kind of ugly if that makes sense.
Now the combat is where Dark Souls got boring to me despite what everyone says the controls are not very good they aren't very responsive and are slightly sluggish (well at least on my controller.) The combat itself is very uninteresting and also very repetitive do to the game's mechanics this makes Dark Souls fell like it's not really worth the effort because I'm bored most of the time and I just don't care about beating a game that bores me.
Now the way I see it Dark Souls is really just about three things combat, atmosphere and difficulty when combat falls flat the difficulty just meant nothing to me and all that was left was the atmosphere. Honestly I fond Dark Souls to be more of a boring chore just to get a good feeling of an accomplishment though the atmosphere and difficulty did really help to make Dark Souls a very memorable title and I'm glad I tried it. Though I sold my copy of Dark Souls I might rent again and see if I would like it more the next time.
7/10 Grate yet boring.
