As a pre order bonus for Saints row 3 i got this game for free. And to tell the truth it didnt look that awsome to me so i still have it packed. I was thinking of selling it. thats why i want to know why this game is worth keping cause i dont want to open it and then dislike it cause a game in its original state can be sold for allot more.

do you like Zelda and DMC? this is kinda of a combination of the 2. also did you ever see the comic Battlechasers? it was by Joe Mad.

this game is a great game It is Zelda with better combat and joe Mad art style.

Unless this just isn't your style of game, I don't see how you can say it doesn't look awesome. I can understand if you are a type that prefers one genre over the other but Darksiders for it's genre is a freaking awesome game. Zelda meets Gears of War meets God of War and it is very well put together IMO. It's a solid game.

Honestly give this game a shot.

Youll find about halfway through the game, that they have taken good ideas from zelda, portal, GoW, DmC, and many other good action and puzzle oriented games to come up with a game that mixes great combat, exploration, puzzle solving, and enough hidden things that youll spend hours trying to get that one damn chest thats been outta reach forever.

The best part is, if you DO find all of the hidden things, in NG+ you can keep a couple of your finds, like the abyssal armor. But good luck finding that all without a guide. its a real test.

unfortunately the Abyssal Armor is the ONLY carryover.

Seriously...stop saying it's like DMC. You're the only person on the planet who says that.

if you are referring to me then you are actually wrong there are there are plenty that say that it is like DMC. and why are you getting so upset about it?

    EDIT
a friend of mine said he feels it is more like Legacy of Kain Defiance than either GoW or DMC.

    www.videogamer.com/ps3/darksiders/previe... says:
The Legend of Zelda isn't the only clear as day influence. Capcom's Devil May Cry has also had a heavy hand in Darksiders' development. Its look is one full of Gothic cathedrals and demonic overtones, a DMC hallmark. It's a realistic yet stylised look, and very comic book in tone. Imagine Spawn lending Link a hand as he sorts out Ganon. Something like that.

The combat is where DMC's presence is felt most. WAR's got plenty of demon-destroying abilities, with which he'll be chewing up countless skeletons, angels and the zombie-esque remnants of the human race, called the Wicked. Sword slices are his primary attack, his Gauntlet his secondary attack. He can also fire guns Dante-style from a distance. In order to mix things up a bit, Vigil has implemented a rudimentary counter system which should add depth and no little amount of skill to the combat. Enemies will attempt a desperation move when their health is low. When this happens a symbol will appear in the HUD - that's your cue to press the B button (on the Xbox 360 version, the one shown) to reverse it and trigger a devastating finishing move. When you combine all of this with the bog-standard action game lock-on and strafe/dodge and dash mechanic, Darksiders starts to become even more familiar to the genre's fans.

I would say this is more like DMC than GoW. GoW IMO is a poor man's beat-em-up, it's just got great visuals but not much depth in gameplay.

Darksiders takes a lot of things from DMC and replicates them in the same way. I'll add to what ShadowReaver listed:

    - Can buy combos
    - Collect pieces of a while item to increase health, or magic.
    - Buy an item that takes a large amount of health of most enemies
    - Buy an item that resurrects you on KO.
    - A lot of the combos moves are very similar to DMC: the dash is the same as DMC's trickster style. Uppercutting enemies then attacking them in the air. War has a similar attack to Dante's Stinger attack, block-counter move similar to Dante's Royale Guard style etc etc.
    - Rooms that lock down until all enemies have been defeated.
    - Challenge areas that require you to perform a certain combat move to finish

I am sure there are many more. My main beef with this game though is the slow response time. i notice a lag when jumping or attacking, this isn't the case with DMC or Bayonetta. Even still it's a badass game. i am currently playing this and Lords of Shadow.

Yeah CLOS is great too. Has a lot of replay value and seems to be a very lengthy game. I would say CLOS has a much faster combat than Darksiders. Also CLOS is a more linear game, though you can go back to previous levels to complete trials and find gems to upgrade your character.

I was playing Bayonetta before playing this. You should check that out if you haven't. Has tons of unlockables and I had the most fun time platinuming it. Bayonetta is all about countering enemy attacks and has a very high response rate, so there is no lag. So when you come from Bayonetta to Darksiders it's very apparent that there is a small lag when pressing buttons.

I am looking forward to Darksiders 2, bigger world and faster combat. Going to be amazing.

i was not too impress with Bayo, it has better weapons than DMC4 and i liked the main character but the over all game felt too much like DMC. I did not feel they tried to differentiate it enough from DMC (same creator i know) that it felt more like been there done that. i played both when they were released and yes Bayo has faster combat but to me it was lackluster.

Better weapons my ass. Too many universal moves and it had no laser guitar.

Guy who made the topic, play the damn game then decide. Going onto a bias board and asking if you should keep a game without even trying it is just stupid.

i said DMC 4 not DMC 3 (3 had the best weapons but was not my favorite)

    And I still disagree.

thats fair, i did not like the actual bayonetta game but i liked the weapons in it more than the DMC4 weapons.

The combat in this game is way more plodding than DMC... DMC and Bayo are silky smooth... This is not. Its easier but also clunkier (and more brain dead).

as for keeping it or not if it looks weak to you get rid of it. Part two actually looks like a big improvement though so you might wanna give this a spin in the off chance that becomes a game you want. I bought this for $10 and I don't think I would want to pay a $ more but for the price I am satisfied.

I really appreciated the Simon And Garfunkel reference, Scarborough Fair's Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme. Maybe they should have added a guitar and called it Sound of Silence.

After you kill the last one chosen you must take the seven parts of the ultimate sword. Now when you take the ultimate sword you have two ways:

    - Go to the last battle against Destroyer so the game is over or

    - Try to get all Abyssal Armour pieces first because you will have the whole map at your hands.

Although you don't need the Abyssal Armour to defeat Destroyer at all. I think this game is amazing. Interesting big bosses, middle bosses and mini bosses.
