Judging by the TC's signature, he's one of those people who only plays fighting games for the hawt chixx and doesn't care about the mechanics. It's thanks to these people that the male Darkstalkers characters have gone all but ignored by Capcom.

sure, the engine is pretty much the basis of a game, but the sexy girls and the fictional creature aspect is the whole appeal of this one. the engine is not the appeal, its the functionality.
beside, i personally never play a fighting game for its fighting engine. but thats just me.

Surprisingly, you are one of the only people I've seen mention that about Darkstalkers. What game that has girls doesn't make them appeal to some demographic with their appearance?

the bottom line is : the fighting aspect of fighting games doesn't appeal to me.
so i guess it is bound that its everything else that attract my eye.
soul calibur it was its story
darkstalkers it was the character design
ultimate ninja storm it was the boss battles.
speaking of darkstalkers, do you have knowledge of a hack&slash game with characters based around cliche monsters like this game?

Let's not kid ourselves about Darkstalkers and sex appeal...there's a reason that 99% of anything Darkstalker related in the past 15 years has included Morrigan and/or Felicia.
When i got my Saturn on Christmas Day '96, I finally could enjoy my favorite arcade game in the comfort of my own home. I played the hell outta Night Warriors on Saturn, so you can imagine that I'm more than a little salty that Darkstalkers hasn't seen a new entry in a decade and a half. Even more so given my ambivalence toward Street Fighter, in spite of it receiving multitudes of ports, remakes, and sequels.
Darkstalkers and Mega Man, Capcom...yeah, I've got an axe to grind.

all jokes aside, one thing i preferred when it comes to advertisement, is that (if i remember correctly) at first it was Dmitri that was supposed to be the main character while now its pretty much morrigan since she is everywhere and not dmitri.
