Day Z and War Z go head-to-head for new players in this video feature.
Im a console gamer and i thought I'd buy Arma 2 for just Dayz, Ill say if you have cash to burn Dayz is fun if you like jumping from different styles of games, but I definitely wouldnt recommend to anyone because its down to what you like, if you are in a possition you will really regret £25 on something you was hoping was alot more i'd say dont bother, but if you are wanting a new experience and want to splash the cash then go for it.
I do go back to Dayz and I dont play any games in that format on my PC, even tho it isnt something I wake up thinking of player I do like to go and have another bash so it isnt all bad.
@nhall00195 Day Z hasn't been updated in over 6 months, and War Z is actually being updated on a weekly basis.
One has a chance, one doesn't.
What is Gamespot gaining by promoting an unethical game like that (WarZ)? And why it is delaying the review so much, as most other sites already did it? Why other good and honest games doesn't gain first page? If they had any agreement with the WarZ devs, I think they should follow Valve and broke it right now...
@fbgbdk4 Ok, I'm not sure what you mean by "unethical game." I don't get it.
@fbgbdk4 What they're gaining is money, even if it is technically dirty money at this point. Apparently gamespots standards are so low that such a thing doesn't matter to them.
because obviously, sergey is rich enough to sprey around millions of dollars, and the worlds gaming sites all move by the will of evil game developers.
A few things to clear up in this video. Zombies are easy to loose if you break line of sight.
Zombies in War Z aggro from very far away also and can aggro when you think your safe.
Food and basic items rarely spawn now in the latest patch to promote the cash shop.
When your Charachter dies in War Z you can pay Real world cash to be revived instantly.
War Z by all definition IS a mod. They added a new map and some zombie to War Inc, nothing else.
What do I think about the two?
Well first off, War Z is a scam, plain and simple. They already announced that their small dev team of maybe 25 people will be making two new games to release by the end of the year. War Z will not be finnished and it will suffer the same fate as War Inc did when War Z was announced.
Day Z's stand alone is revamping the engine to allow for an MMO Framework. Items that have degradation. An new inventory management system and a revamped map with more enterable buildings and new interiors and textures. Basically a whole new game from the mod.
In this pointless comparison, there is ONE big difference between Dayz and Warz,
Dayz is ABSOLUTELY FREE.
Warz costs money with cash shop which defeats the purpose of survival game. And Its scam.
@iagbas To play DayZ you need to buy ARMA: Combined Operation. So no, it's not free.
Dayz is FREE just like DOTA is free and Counter Strike is FREE. These are mods. Mods don't cost money, game itself does.
There are tons of awesome mods comes with ARMA 2 CO besides Dayz. And Arma game itself is awesome simulator on its own.
1.6, Source, and the latest CS:GO all cost money.
ArmA2 costs money, and we all know it's sales skyrocketed because people wanted to try DayZ.
ArmA2 had terrible sales prior to the mod, meaning no-one has it.
If you want to play DayZ, you have to buy ArmA 2, which costs money.
Sadly, the DayZ devs abandoned their prior fans, and will be charging full price for their latest edition of the mod (uses the same ArmA 2 engine).
DayZ is free. Ofc because its a mod you need the game.
But thats a retarded way to look at it. The mod itself is free, the only problem is that not everyone owns arma2. There are a crap of half life mods and you can consider those free because everyone has the game.
So yes DayZ is free, their creators got no money for the arma2 sales it created.
DayZ is an unfinished mod and WarZ is a scam. What else is there to say?
Why are we still making video's comparing them? Why are people treating DayZ as if it were a full game? Why can't we wait for DayZ standalone? Why people still paying any attention to WarZ?
People are so desperate for a good big open world zombie game they are playing games with very bad gameplay mechanics. I respect what the guys have accomplished with DayZ, but it's not what I'm looking for in a zombie game. It's got about half of what I want, and that's just not good enough for me.
Graphics are not that important to me. I would be fine DayZ's graphics if at least the animations were good, but they are not. I want a more interesting world. I want to walk into places and be able to see what happened. Like you walk into a diner and you can see the carnage that took place.
I want there to be living human NPC that run around getting tore up by the zombies, makes things more interesting. You walk into town and a lady runs by screaming and a pack of zombies runs after her. Do you help? Or hunker down and see what happens.
I'd like a more interactive world. Maybe a little story, doesn't even have to be that much. I need something more than just a FPS or 3rdPS with some zombies sprinkled around. Oh and if it's a xombie game melee combat has to be prevalent and good, I mean come on.
The best zombie game for me at this point is Dead Island. It's just a lot of fun, I keep going back to it. It's got a lot of what I want. It doesn't check mark every box, but it comes pretty close.
Try ZombieU, its an amazing zombie game and plays much like DayZ but single player only.
i think both games have cool concepts but kinda have empty gameplay that gets boring after a while,i mean all you can do is collect food and water, get a fireweapon and melee weapon and walk around. they should add more content, something like crafting or some terrarira/minecraft like element to it
War Z is a sorry excuse for a game. Day Z would have been better if they let you play offline single player.
Day Z feels like Counterstrike did when it first came out. Not in gameplay, of course, but in the community buzz and sense that something about this thing represents the future of gaming. It's rough and buggy as hell, but there's something golden there, and if they can shine it up to a retail-quality package, it could be the first in a new genre of games.
War Z is just an elaborate scam.
@CatAtomic999 100000% with you ! Call this the the max level for Zombies games, now they must just punch out all the bumbs in the stand alone and NO MICRO TRANSACTION kak. Also got to do something to get people to work more together in the game. Good luck, can't wait to see that stand alone.
I watched about 7 minutes of the Day Z vid down there and wasn't too impressed. I respect that they did it at all, but for now the zombie movement is ridiculous. Maybe I'm just not seeing detail but it looks like they're running aimlessly without moving their legs. Then they just kind of stand there awkwardly waiting to be shot. Can I make a better game? Fuck no, not the point. I wanna kill zombies but I wanna kill zombies that look and act like zombies. Their look, movement, and behavior should be top priority.
As far as War Z? Everything I've read from it being a cheap knockoff to the developer's stupid ass comments and then actually seeing it in action, it's a broken piece of shit "created" by broken pieces of shit. It's not even worth speaking on.
Wait for stand alone. All that is being fixed now that they have rebuilt the engine and basically started from scratch.
I still can't believe that Gamespot actually made a deal for advertisement with Hammerpoint and War Z after they've been shown to be scammers multiple times by multiple sources, hell have they already forgotten the infamous interview Sergey did for Gamespy?
"Well we said the map would be up to 100 square kilometers, and it is within 100 square kilometers so we really didn't lie" (for the record they advertised the map as being 400 sqkm, people pointed out it was bull so they said it was 100 sqkm... Turns out it somewhere between 10 and 15 sqkm in actuality.)
And you're really deciding to support the unethical shady business practices of this Gamespot? Isn't that a tad bit damaging to your image?
@BuBsay Advertisers are free to purchase ad space on any website. The editorial team is independent of the marketing division. We pass our own judgment and clearly stated War Z and Day Z both have good and bad design choices.
My own summation:
War-Z - total crap, not worth the time to watch videos of gameplay
Day-Z - good but your enjoyment depends on many things including patience for installation, setup and learning curve. I personally played it when it first came out and enjoyed it for about a week, then realized I could not stand the controls and movement of the Arma II engine and quit playing. It is also riddled with bugs and hackers.
Dota2 is in beta stage, has competitive esports scene, has millions of player base and is free to play(and i mean REALLY FREE). Why anyone would want to pay to play an alpha stage game is beyond me.
First off, i played both of this games and for extended periods.
There is no point in arguing about what game is the best. Just play both and you will realize that dayz is a gamer-made game with a lot of spirit on it and warz is some copy garbage created for the money. Im not kidding, if you are going to choose one, choose Dayz. 225km2 map, with vehicles to mantain, incredibly realistic graphics in low res! with different kinds of weapons. I played this game for long (recommended with friends), and it is the kind of game with completly unique gameplay situations. You will actually doubt to fire your weapons many times, and find yourself trying to hide in completly inmense forests. You are able to hunt, to cut trees, and start fires. You will make traps, negociate with other groups. And pretty much anything you could imagine to do in a zombie apocalypse.
But, when it comes to zombie quality, you will suffer many bugs. Its the weaker aspect of this game.
