Why didn't I get the Real Mega Buster? I got the 'Zombie Genocider' achievment!

After getting the Zombie Genocider achievment, you have to get an ending. You can simply sit in a safe spot and wait to get ending D, however, DO NOT SELECT SAVE STATUS AND QUIT! After you get your statistics, it should say "The Real Mega Buster was added to the security room!".

Is there a Co-Op mode? I heard there was one in the platinum version!

No, this was a rumor and has been demented by Capcom. There is no Co-Op mode and will never be one for Dead Rising. It is possible in a sequel, however.

What is Mission Free Mode and how do I unlock it?

You don't unlock Mission Free mode. Mission Free Mode is where you wait until 5 PM (17 o' clock) on day one before going to the warehouse, thus triggering the Queen cutscene, instead of the one with Jessie requesting Back-Up for Brad, thus never activating any cases. If you, however, want to play around in the mall, it is recommended that you do at least up to case 1-2 (A Strange old Man), though preferably until 1-4 (Rescue the Professor).

What are these small chainsaws with three books everyone talks about?

On day one, 9 PM (21 o' clock) you will recieve a call from Otis, triggering the scoop 'Out of Control'. After getting the scoop, go to Wonderland Plaza and find the Space Ride. Walk up the stairs and check the control panel. When you do this, you will have to fight Adam The Clown. After beating him, you can take one of his chainsaws. Everytime you enter Wonderland Plaza (And after the cutscene with Greg whom you rescue by checking the control panel after beating Adam) you can pick up a new chainsaw. Now, go to Sir Book-A-Lot and pick up the book 'Criminal Biography'. Go to Paradise Plaza (Conveniently through the shortcut Greg shows you). Go to 'Bachmans Bookoperium' and pick up the books 'Entertainment' and 'Engineering'. These three books will make the chainsaws last for 2700 hits each, a practical infinity.

Why did Jo only have one survivor? Last playthrough, she had two/three/four!

Once you recieve the scoop, the very time you enter Wonderland Plaza, whether you fight Jo or not, the scoop will become "active", and Jo will start killing her Survivors. Also, the survivors will die if you wait too long (IE the Scoop Bar becomes red). Basically, do not enter Wonderland Plaza until you're going to beat up Jo.

I can't get into the trucks in the Mainentance Tunnels!

The only Truck you can enter is one of the trucks in the area below Seon's Food & Stuff in the north. The others are case related, and cannot be driven. There is also a white car in the area below Paradise Plaza.

What are these Mainentance Tunnels, anyway?

The Mainentance Tunnels is an area below the mall. You enter it through Lesiure Park. The entrance is placed opposing the one to Paradise Plaza. Basicall, just walk to the North Plaza, and facing that entrance, just follow the wall on the left until you find the entrance.

Okay, so when I enter the Mainentance Tunnels, Otis calls about a Mainentance Tunnel Key, but I can't find it![¨

When you enter the Mainentance Tunnels, drive Right, Left, Right. You will find a door. In the top right corner of that room (With your back to the entrance) the key will be located.

Hey, I killed those convicts! Why are they back?

The convicts will respawn every day at 6 AM (6 o' Clock), no matter what you do. WRECKING THEIR CAR DOES NOT HELP, THEY WILL STILL RESPAWN!

I have this Lego/Devil/Horse head on my head, and I hate it! How do I get it off?

There are three ways to get it off.
    1. Go to any store with hats, and change.
    2. Go to Estelle's Fine-Lady Cosmetics in North or Wonderland Plaza and dye your hair.
    3. Go to the boxes under the stairs in the security room. You can change back into Frank's default clothes there.
  • Aug 22, 2007 1:58 am GMT
Why won't my game save? I've saved at the Restrooms in the mall/Sofa in the Security room, but when I die and quit, I can't load my file!

After dying, select either Load Game or Return to Main Menu. DO NOT SELECT SAVE STATUS AND QUIT! THIS WILL ERASE YOUR SAVE, BUT YOU WILL KEEP YOUR LEVEL!

Why is the text so small? I can't read it!

Well, the text is, sadly, made for HD Widescreen TV:s. There will not be a fixing update, but here are a few tricks you can try:
    1. Change the XBOX 360 settings to Widescreen. While you will get a smaller image, the text might be easier to read.
    2. Experiment with the TV's contrast.
    3. Your computer monitor is most likely HD. You can connect your XBOX 360 to it and play.
    4. Cliché as it may sound, buy a HDTV. You can get a small one pretty cheap these days.

    Where are the SubMachine Guns?

    http://files.filefront.com/DeadRising_Uzi_Locationswmv/;7773530;;/fileinfo.html

    1. In Paradise Plaza, on the blue "roof" above the Storehouse exit. You can get onto it by jumpin towards it from the stairs. Walk slightly towards the wall, and you'll find it on the farthest platform.

    2. In Lesiure Park, go to the very northwest corner. There should be a tree with a rock by it. Pick up the rock, and look up the tree. You should se a SMG there. Chuck the rock at it, until it falls down.

    3. In Mainentance Tunnels Key Room.

    4. In Wonderland Plaza, on top of one of the lego houses. Use Zombie Ride to get onto it.

    5. In Food Court, on top of Cris' Fine Foods sign.

    6. In Al Fresca Plaza, in the fountain.

    7. Entrance Plaza, on top of a palm tree. The jump is tricky, but possible. You must jump onto the blue stands from the stair rack.

I'm almost positive there is one in North Plaza and possibly Colby's Movieland, but it's yet to be found.

I keep hearing about these mutinies, what are they?

If you rescue Ronald or Kindell, at a point (Time information would be appreciated) Otis will call to tell you once about Kindell snapping and wanting to escape, and once about Ronald wanting food. You have to talk to Kindell, and you have to bring some food to Ronald. If you don't talk to Kindell, he will take ALL survivors with him, and they will ALL die. If you don't talk to Ronald, he will take all survivors in his room and they will die.
IF YOU ENTER THE SECURITY ROOM WHILE KINDELL'S SCOOP IS ACTIVE, AND EXIT WITHOUT SOLVING IT, THE SURVIVORS WILL DIE!

What is this Food Court Loading Glitch?

On day five from 5 AM (5 o' clock) to 11:59 PM (23:59), do not enter the Food Court, or the game will freeze on the loading screen. After Day 5 ends, it's safe to enter. In your game, this will read as 4 days 5 hours 00 minutes to 4 days 11 hours 59 minutes.

How do I take these fotos for Kent? He just keeps saying I suck!

The first foto, just take a pic of him taking a pic. You have to get at least 500 PP for it.
The second, you have to take a pic of him pumping his arm after taking a photo. You have to get at least 700 PP for it.
For Photo Challenge Scoop, you have to get an Erotica photo worth at least 500 PP. The easiest way to do this is to take a pic of Jessie during or immediatly after the Medicine Run Scoop. Make sure to get her breasts and crotch in the same pic.

Finally, Kent will have a surprise for you. DO NOT BE LATE FOR THE MEETING, YOU HAVE TO BE IN PARADISE PLAZA WHEN THE SCOOP ACTIVATES!
If you are there in time, Kent will want to take a pic of a survivor turning into a Zombie. Frank will stop him and you will have to fight him.
If you are late, the survivor will be dead, and Kent will have tied you to the fountain. You will have to fight Kent without weapons or clothes.

How do I get Achievment X?

There's a whole FAQ for it, additionally, a FAQ for Zombie Genocider, one for Tour Guide, one for Clothes Horse and one for Frank The Pimp. However, some achievments will be covered later on.

How much is xxx amount of Dead Rising time in real time?

1 Dead Rising Second = Less than a tenth of a second.
    1 Dead Risng Minute = 5 Second
    1 Dead Rising Hour = 5 Minutes
    12 Dead Rising Hours = 1 hour
    24 Dead Rising Hours = 2 Hours
    72 Dead Rising Hours = 6 Hours

Hey, I solved all cases and was on the helipad in time, but got Ending C!

At 10 AM (10 O' Clock) on Day 4, Isabela will call you. You have to go to Carlitos Hideout and talk to her before going to the Helipad! She will just tell you to save yourself, but you have to talk to her in order to unlock Overtime Mode and get Ending A!

I heard about some PP Bonuses not related to photos or killing Zombies/Psychos/Survivors! What are they?

    1. Rearrange the Servbot Head in Paradise Plaza by shooting at it.
    2. Heat up a Frying Pan on a Stove. Heat up all stoves for an additional bonus.
    3. Cook a Pizza or Raw Meat in the Microwave. Use all Microwaves for an additional bonus.
    4. Run on a Threadmill in Flexin', Al Fresca Plaza. You get an extra bonus for running on all.
    5. Destroy a Boxing Sack in Flexin'. You get an extra bonus for destroying all.
    6. Destroy the plates on the wall in Cris' Fine Foods, Food Court.
    7. Ride the Space Ride in Wonderland Plaza.
    8. Spinning the clothe racks in Entrance Plaza.

How do I beat the Special Forces?

Mix some Quickstep (Easiest way is Food Court, mix Wine + Anything except Oil, Milk + almost anything works too.). Grab a powerful Melee weapon like Adam's Chainsaw or some other Psycho Weapon, the Katana, the Sword, the Battle Axe, Lead Pipe, Mannequinn Torso, Cleaver, etc. Grab a Submachine Gun or their own Machine Guns. Drink Quickstep, run up to them, fire a salvo to stun them, then circle around them and hit them with the weapon of choice. The Quickstep/Rapid fire guns are optional, but at least one of them is reccommended. Disembowel and Face Crusher also works, it usually OHKO:s or 2HKO:s them. If you're killed while the SF:s are around, you'll have to escape in a "mini game". You'll end up in the walkway to the Mainentance Tunnel.

How do I beat the Cultist?

Use a powerful firearm like the Shotgun or Submachine Gun, or a strong melee Weapon like the Katana, Sword or Small Chainsaw. Watch out for the suicide bombers and the sleeping spray, if you're hit by the spray and dragged away, you'll have to beat an entire room full of Cultists using pretty much a Stepladder. All your survivors will also die.

How do I save the survivors in the gunshop?

As you walk into it, they will start firing at you. Use the Flying Dodge to get out of the store. One of them will walk out, but will demand a picture of the Airduct (Which you use to get into the Security Room). It has to be from this playthrough. After getting it, simply talk to them and they will join you.

The game is so dark! How am I supposed to see anything?

Tune up your TV's brightness. Nah, joking aside, go to a toy store, grab a Toy Laser Sword, and put it in your inventory. You don't have to have it equipped, it will illuminate a lot anyway.

I heard about the nudity in this game, what is it? My parents won't let me buy it!

Partial nudity. Key word: Partial. IE a nipple-less black-white figure that could possibly be a woman, some panties and some serious cleavage. They should be a lot more worried by the excessive violence.

All credit to Wildooelf for the section below!

I got the Achievement, but not the unlockable item.

To unlock achievement items in Dead Rising you must get an ending for the playthough after meeting the requirements for the achievement. If you've already ended that game you'll need to meet the requirements again, and get an ending for that playthough.

I picked up the Cooking book but my Juice didn't last twice as long

Only Juices you mix when holding the Cooking Book will have their effects last twice as long. You'll notice it immediately after mixing since the juice's icon will have a 2X icon on it similar to the pink book icon.

I failed a Case File and the game went to a screen that says "Vanished into Darkness" what do I do?

Well, if you failed the Case File it'll show this screen showing the case files expiring. However if you want to continue the play without the case files you could select "Return to Game" and play the rest of the game without the Case Files (although you'll still get scoop calls.)

I've gotten a ton of PP but my Leaderboard record only shows like, 3 million PP!

The PP uploaded to the Leaderboard is only for one playthough, not the total PP you've gotten over your total playthrough.

I missed the part where I could get zombies to stop grabbing me, how do I get them off?

You can get zombies off of you by circling the left joystick. When Frank Learns the Kickback skill you can use it when a zombie grabs you a by doing a double tap forward which will kick a zombie off of Frank, and the Judo Throw skill that will throw the zombies over Frank's shoulder and kill them by executing a double tap back.
  • Aug 22, 2007 2:00 am GMT
Brock Just broke my neck from like 11 bars of health, how do I get out of that?

You can shake him off by circling the left stick just like you would a zombie, however Judo Throw and Kickback will not work on him.

It's so hard to get these survivors anywhere. Any advice?

Survivors are best escorted by using Waypoints by hitting Y when aiming with the Left Trigger. You can hold some survivors hands others can be carried or shouldered by hitting B when next to them. You can pull them directly with you where you want. All other survivors can be given weapons, most of the women that can be armed can be given smaller weapons like Handguns, Knives and Sub Machineguns, most men can take those and even larger weapons like Sledge Hammers and Shotguns.

If you arm and waypoint survivors your problems should be very few.

How do I recharge my Camera?

There's 3 camera Shops in the mall one next to the warehouse entrance in Paradise Plaza, one on the second floor of Wonderland Plaza, and one adjacent to Crislip's in the North Plaza. All are circled on this map: Http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c293/Wildodeelf/?action=view&current=deadr001-1.jpg

    Achievment Info & FAQ

NOTE: Killing/Photographing Cultists, Convicts, Carlito or Isabela DOES NOT count towards Psychopath achievments.

Do I need to do PP Collector in one Play?

    (Credit to Wildooelf)

Although the PP Collector achievement says it needs to be done in 1 play, it can be done across several plays if you've saved before starting the new playthough. Do note that in starting a new game you can retake PP stickers you've already taken a picture of, but only the ones you missed are required to get the achievement after that.

How do I shoot down that Helicopter?

(Credits to Wildooelf for this one)

The only way to damage the helicopteris by shooting the helicopter's pilots or the tail rotor. A player with a steady hand and a good sense of leading can take the helicopter down with a well aimed sniper rifle. If you're not one of them the best strategy would be to bring a few machineguns from the Special Forces and hop onto the picnic or garden area's pavilion (use zombie ride). This will give you a better vantage point and protect you from the zombies. From here the Helicopter will make attack passes that should for the most part miss you if you stand to the middle of the pavilion (nevertheless bringing food is advisable). The easiest way to shoot the helicopter down from the pavilion is to shoot the tail rotor of the helicopter after it passes. It may take a bit depending on how accurate you are.

    I followed the guide, I'm sure I didn't miss a call listed... but I didn't get Transmissionary

    (Credit to Wildooelf)

In the PAL and as certain NTSC Versions of Dead Rising Otis will call you during the Case Files after the initiation of "Last Resort" and you'll need to continue through it to receive his final calls.

    Psychopath Strategies

    (All credit to askinywhiteguy!)

    How to kill a psychopath:

I will list what are, in my opinion, the best strategies for defeating the psychos. I will list multiple strategies for some of them, (usually a safe one and a fast one) and I will list them in order, of what I recommend, you should kill them in. (the RMB and RLS will be left out of the strategies.)

    Carlito: First battle

Strategy one: As soon as the battle starts, jump onto the railing in front of you, then onto the chef statue, there is a SMG right there. You can shoot Carlito right from where you are, and bring him down to half health. When he reaches that point, he will run around to the other side of the food court, chase after him, and just shoot at him from the ground. (Brad will give you an extra hand gun if you need it). This is the safest method, and since you're in a Food Court, there is no reason you should die.

Strategy two: (not recommended for lower levels) Pick up the katana from paradise plaza, and a king salmon from the pond in the park. When the fight starts, run up to where Carlito is and hit him twice with the salmon, if that didn't kill him already, and then finish him off with the katana. (Any melee weapon should do the trick actually). This isn't recommended for lower levels, because Carlito can really hurt you badly with his melee attacks. However, this is the fastest method.

Convicts: (Note: the respawn once every day, and don't count towards psycho achievements.)

Strategy one: Grab an SMG form any of the 7 spawn points, and/or a shotgun. Waypoint any survivors you have with you to a wall where the zombie population is small to nonexistent (very important). Locate the convicts, when you get within range, shoot the gunner, and try to take him out quickly. You might get him a few times while trying. If you manage to take out the gunner, grab the heavy machine gun from the back of the jeep, and turn it on the remaining inmates, until they are all dead. This is the more dangerous, but fastest method.

Strategy two: Obtain a sniper rifle, and zombie ride onto the roof above the picnic tables. Locate the convicts, wait for them to crash into something, and take your shot. This method takes a bit of time, because you have to locate them through the scope, shoot the same guy 3-4 times, and it takes a few seconds for the bullet to hit them if they are far away. This is the safest, but most time consuming method.

(I recommend that you avoid the convicts as much as possible, and only fight them if you need to, such as if you have to do an escort to/from the food court.)

    Cletus:

Grab an SMG (or two) and a few handguns, and at least one good food item. As soon as the battle is initiated, run outside of the doors. Take out every zombie in the immediate area with a melee weapon, (to save ammo). Make it so that the left door is opened into the shop. Now stand just to the left of the door frame, from here, you should be able to shoot Cletus when he is on the right side of the counter, and he won't be able to shoot you. When he strays to the left side of the counter, you can shoot him, but he might try to shoot you too. You will take little to no damage in this fight, if done right.
  • Aug 22, 2007 2:02 am GMT
Adam: (note: be sure to triple book his weapon, and save his survivor.)

Strategy one: You should have shotguns now, if not, then get a couple SMGs. (there is also a quadruplet of zombie cops by the stairs that all have handguns.) First, make sure that any survivors are safe. Then, you want to lure Adam down to the child's play area, where there are a ton of toy cubes. Adam can not block these when you kick them at him, they will knock him down, and give you time to shoot him. The key to this battle is knowing when to shoot. You want to shoot him when he is: choking on his own popped balloons, slipping on gumballs, throwing knives, dizzy from his spin attack, on the ground, or breathing fire on the ground. Any other time, he will block it. If you just know when to shoot, and when to run, you will be fine.

Strategy two: Adam can not block anything that is thrown at him, you can just run around the plaza, pick up random things, and throw them at him if you need/want to. Like perfume props, lipstick props, cash registers, gumball machines, ect. I don't recommend it, but it works. (He can dodge them pretty well though).

    Carlito: Second battle

(He seems to be the battle that is asked about the most, but there are many dirt easy ways to beat him).

Strategy one: Mix up some quickstep, using the coffee creamer in the security room, and some OJ in Columbian Roast Masters. If, for some reason, you didn't kill Adam, or have a small chainsaw, than use the katana or a mannequin torso. When the battle starts, run up stairs, and drink the quickstep as soon as you get up there. Run in a zigzag like path towards Carlito, (so he'll have a hard time of shooting you), and hit him a few times. He may get one or two hits off at you; however, there is no reason why this battle should last more than 10 seconds.

Strategy two: If, for some reason, you can't pull of strategy one, the next best thing would be to grad a hockey stick from the sporting goods store upstairs, during the fight. You can hide behind a column, and fire pucks at him, he should not be able to hit you back.

    Steven:

Get a small chainsaw; if you are too lazy to go over one more plaza, then you can just get some king salmon from the seafood section, right next to the pharmacy door, or a katana/sword from Rippers Blades, next door. Now, as soon as the battle starts, jump up onto the self on your left, and then drop down on the other side, run out behind Steven, and slice him with the blade, or slap him with the fish, a few times. Another easy, 10 second fight.

    Cliff:

When to battle starts, quickly hit him with you strongest melee weapon, but get of his reach before he can retaliate. When he jumps into one of the tunnels, he will appear on top of one of the selves. Immediately, climb up onto another one, and look around for him, once you spot him, jump back down to where he is, and hit him with your weapon again. Repeat as necessary. Not very safe, but kinda fast.

The Raincoat Cult: (AKA: true eyes)

(Note: they do not count towards psychopath achievements)

These will just be everywhere during day 2, there are two easy ways to pick them off. 1: With a firearm, you can shoot these guys from a fair distance away, and they won't retaliate. 2: The best way to clear out a pack quickly is with any kind of bladed weapon. If you just charge into a pack of them, slicing and dicing, then they should fall like dominos. However, the chances of being caught are slightly higher.

    Jo:

Strategy one: Of course, you don't really need much strategy at all to bring down this mamma-jamma. If you just slice her, over and over again, with anything sharp and pointy, you should be able to eventually carve off enough fat, and kill her. You will get hit, but you will save time.

Strategy two: Just outrun her, when you get enough distance between her (or it), turn around and shoot her in the head with a shotgun (be careful not to hit any survivors). You can also jump onto one of the white tables, and shoot her from there. She will shoot you back, but her handgun does hardly any damage at all. This method is way more time consuming.

    Sniper family:

Unfortunately, hockey sticks don't work as well in this fight. Your best bet is to chase down the snipers, one by one, and bash them with something when you get close enough. Use whatever you want, a chainsaw, a katana, a bat, a fish, a lead pipe, or my favorite, a 2x4. (Like my brother says, "To solve any problem, just hit it with a big stick."

    Isabella:

Get a shotgun, and as soon as the battle begins, jump up onto the stack of boxes to your right. From here, Isabella will try to ram you (but can't), and you're free to shoot at her with your shotgun. Short, simple, and to the point.

    Sean:

If you do not have a small chainsaw (shame on you), then grab the katana and SMG from paradise plaza (and some food), before attempting take bring this zealot down. Charge in and hit the guy with the saws (which should end it quickly) or the katana. (He's is still gonna hit you no matter what). If your weapon breaks, then jump up onto the base of the mannequin, and use it as a barrier between you and him (he will still be able to hit you, he'll just have a harder time). Pull out your gun, and fill him full of lead. Occasionally, he will haunch over for breath, giving you more time to hit him.

Paul: (Note: be sure to save him after the battle)

Strategy one: This pyro punk will run around Wonderland tossing all mater of explosives in all directions. So you can avoid those explosions by chasing this guy, staying right behind him, and shank (cut) him when you get close enough. This won't take long if performed correctly.

Strategy two: An alternate, way is to shoot the bombs out of Paul's hand as he lights them. This will cause him to get caught in his own blast, and makes him vulnerable for more attacks.

    Kent:

Regular battle: Assuming you are on time for his meeting, you will get to take down this punk with all the stuff you have. But if the stuff you have just isn't good enough, then you can jump onto the orange awning by Columbian Roast Masters and grab the katana, (that I mentioned many times before), and slice the scumbag to pieces.

Alternate battle: This is where you get incredibly screwed over. In fact, if you know your going to be late for this meeting, don't show up unless the stuff you have is easy to get back. Because if you are so much as minutes late, he will chain you to the ceiling, take all your weapons and clothing, and you have to fight him with stuff around you, in the paradise fountain area. Your only hope is that one of the two trash cans around you has something good in it, that you can use, like a knife or a bat. There is also a bowling ball, and 2 snacks in the fountain.

    Carlito: Third battle

(Note: this battle is completely optional, and Carlito shows up after you get the second bomb, and if defeated, you will be vehicle less, but close to the white car)

Strategy one: Use the drivable truck next to the meat processing area, and ram Carlito's side door, this may take a few rams, but it'll work, and it's safe.

Strategy two: If you must get up close and personal, bring a strong weapon (or strong gun), and hit/shoot Carlito when he crashes into something. Needless to say, this isn't very safe.

    Larry:

Like Jo, anything sharp and pointy should help. And remember, Larry won't attack you right away; you get to decide how the first attack should go. And occasionally, Larry will get distracted and stop fight to sharpen his knives, or eat from a tub of... something. You can use that to your advantage by going behind Larry and hitting him a few times before he turns around. All the hanging slabs of meat around the area are a good hiding place, if you need to get out of the way for/of something. If Larry hangs you from a meat hook, wiggle the stick to get away. Your time restraint is a little tight, so try and make this battle as fast as possible.

    Brock:

There is an easy way (more like a glitch) to win this fight very cheaply. Just get off the head of the tank, and onto the body, and move towards the very edge. Brock will try to follow you, as soon as you see him drop off the head of the tank, run up and jump kick him. Brock will then jump back onto the head, then back to the body. Jump kick him again, and repeat the process. If you feel like fighting Brock like a real man, then double lariat and football tackle are you best friends. You also can't go wrong with some good old "somersault kick, into a roundhouse kick," combos. If Brock ever puts you in a headlock, wiggle the stick really fast to get out.

    Weapons Hiearchy and Tips

    (CREDIT TO WILDOOELF!)

Firearms damage: Handgun = SMG < Shotgun (1 pellet) <Sniper Rifle < Machinegun < Heavy Machinegun = Real Megabuster.
Fire Arm Ammo: Shotgun < Handgun = Sniper Rifle < SMG < Machinegun < Heavy Machinegun < Real Megabuster.
    SMG Locations: http://files.filefront.com/DeadRising_Uzi_Locationswmv/;7773530;;/fileinfo.html

General Advisement Tier for Psychopath Fights:
Handgun: You'll need multiples for any boss, but it's manageable at range.
Shotgun: It's usually dangerous to get to point blank range to get the entire spread to hit the target, while a small scatter can hit at short range, and at medium range it hardly has the punch of a Sniper Rifle.
Sniper Rifle: Although at short ranged I would advise using auto targeting, the Sniper Rifle's mainstay is that it is quite useful at long or extreme ranges. Since at such ranges most psychopaths cannot attack you effectively.
Sub Machinegun: Good at all but extreme ranges, and with it's high ammo and rapid fire makes it a very well rounded despite the relatively low damage of each round.
Machinegun: Although it's fairly late in the game, it deals more damage per round, and has a larger magazine.
Heavy Machinegun: Even though it's over-sized (can't be stored) this gun has a high rate of fire, the fastest moving round, and a 200 round magazine.
Real Megabuster: The damage per round is comparable to the Heavy Machinegun, however with the 300 shot capacity, and the fact that it can be stored it is preferable as a weapon, after you unlock it.

    Common Melee Weapon Damage:
Hunting Knife < Lead Pipe < Meat Cleaver < Katana = Sword = Ceremonial Sword < Machete < Mannequin Torso = King Salmon < Chinese Meat Cleaver = Small Chainsaw < Real Laser Sword.

    Durability of weapons:
    2. King Salmon
    20. Sword, Katana, Lead Pipe.
    30. Hunting Knife, Meat Cleaver.
    40. Mannequin Torso
    100. Chinese Meat Cleaver, Small Chainsaw, Ceremonial Sword, Machete.
    300. Real Laser Sword.

Tiers of melee weapons for psychopath fights can really be summed up in "Use the mannequin torso or the psychopath's weapon" whenever possible.

    Surviving Infinity Mode

(Once again, all credit to Wildooelf)

A good starting point is to have your level maxed out and to have the Real Megabuster. After starting an Infinity game it is paramount that you collect the 3 books that increase how much food heals. Health 1 (+50%) is located in Sir Book A Lot in Wonderland Plaza. Health 2 (+50%)is located in The Sinister Read in Entrance Plaza. Survival (+100%) is located in the empty story next to Crislip's in North Plaza.

After that there's 2 basic ways to survive for 5/7 days. First is hunting, a large number of survivors and psychopaths spawn throughout the mall, Drnewcenstein and Nadyanova have mapped their spawnings: dr.newcenstein.com/dead-rising-list.html

Second is gathering, there's enough food in the mall's static spawning to survive a little over 7 days. Drnewcenstein is responsible for this map: http://dr.newcenstein.com/dead-rising-food-infinity.jpg

With either method the best habit to get into if you're going to try and survive the bear minimum for achievements is to get a load of food and retreat to a safe and progressively survive on that food, and to go out again when you're down to 1 full heal health item. Those and other useful infromation like cooking food, and safe zones cheack: dr.newcenstein.com/dead-rising-list.html

ABOVE ALL do not enter or leave the Food Court on day 5 between 5:00am and 11:59 pm (This is read as Survived 4 Days, 23 hours 59 minutes). If you do it will freeze on the loading screen. After Day 5 ends, it's safe to enter. In your game.

Folllowing the simple guidelines here and on drnewcenstein's webpages you'll be able to survive well past day 7.

Hmmm are you sure that the convicts respawn at 6am?

I could have sworn that after I had beat them in the evening(7-10pm), they were back at 1am. Naturally, I came here to see if anyone else had encountered this "glitch" and someone said that they respawn every night at 12pm.

That is an oversite, in my experience 12:00pm is when the convicts respawn.

Doesn't matter that much, does it? People will notice anyway, I doubt anyone plan their game after the convicts' respawn.
