so if you played fallen earth you should know they are going to ruin this game.  Not to say they couldnt make a decent game, im just willing to bet they wont.

most mmo's are level based, and every level they tend to just give you more hp and a few more stats.  That means by the time your max level you have truck loads of hp and pvp tends to be 2 lines of noob firing squads shooting at each other rather then any meaningful gameplay.

The industry is simply not strong or smart enough atm to make a decent mmo shooter.  Please dont fall for this trap.

You trust the morons who have not learned how to be competent when it comes to Rift pvp in how many years?

I think the concept of creating 2 worlds one tv the other video game and have them constantly change 1 from the other is badaz.

Then again those that have played Rift and had there e-mails hacked because there servers weren't secure enough. Those ppl with there e-mails blacklisted and sold to those trying to find other games those ppl own and even worse credit card information stolen. I would holeheartedly , say " Hell no " to purchasing this game.

I played the beta and glad I did.  the game was pretty boring to me so I  decided to cancel my preorder and wait for reviews maybe  when the game releases it will be better but by  the beta the game is atleast a 6.5 out of 10

There were some things the Beta needs to tweak. A number of glitches I encountered. I was also surprised that out of the 7 alien races on the series, you could only play 1 of them in the game. So you had human or this other race and that was the choices.

    I'm hoping that changes.

They are trying to link this in with a TV series, so a large part is going to be PVE and coop. If PVP is all you are interested in, then play another game.

As much as I wanted this game to succeed, it's not. I was in the last beta. I can easily ignore the connection and server glitches. That's what a beta's for; to hammer those out.

But what I can't ignore, is the very drab nature of the gameplay. Defiance is a shooter from ten years ago. It predates even Mass Effect's TPS combat style. I was really hoping that context menus would be put in to break up the pure shooting. Maybe minigames to do things in combat like hack or hotwire something, while others watched your back. But there is NOTHING, but finding a target, getting it into your crosshairs, and shooting until it, or you, fall. it just got very old, very fast. It's not that anything's wrong with the game. Nothing from what I've seen is "broken" in the game. It's just not a shooter that's in step with the times.

It's a sin and a shame that this is going to happen. If they could jsut take a year or so, add some spice and work out how to break up the monotony of a pure shooter, I think they'd have a great game on their hands.

I'm not here to argue with you or start a fight, but at least from what I played on the Xbox 360 beta, they have those events all the time in missions. You have to shut down a sattelite installation or scrambler while mutants charge you. So if your playing solo, you have to clear them out first, and if your with a friend one person can handle the objective while the other handles the crowd. The game really plays quite differently given the amount of people in your immediate area, and sends more mobs for more players. The beta version of the game was also 2-3 months old so I imagine that has been quite a few tweeks during that time, given the fact that most games are being worked on all the way up to and past there shipping dates, you can't really truly dog it until the game comes out and there's some actual reviewing. Which hey if it sucks then, I'll be the first to say I'm wrong, but the first MMO shooter for the xbox deserves a chance.

The game is terrible. Riddled with connectivity problems, kill glitches, ghost enemies that disappear and reappear, and a laundry list of other problems that should/could have been ironed out prior to release. Its a complete waste of money and you would be foolish to buy it. The game play is Borderlands 1 without the fun.

Rift had great potential too and look at it now. After all this time and a shiny new expansion, the gameplay there is still boring as hell. I've learned long ago not to buy a game based on its "potential". And I won't be buying this game until I see a ton of glowing reviews and I'm certainly not seeing them so far. After being burned several times over the years after diving into new online games, I refuse to do it again. I'm not going to support a game or its developers because it has potential.

The game has got some fun elements to it and i started off really enjoying it. But the biggest issue here is just about every mission (esspecially the side missions) are exactly the same - go here, kill the people, interact with generic item, kill more people and earn xp, 100 scrip, and a low level mod. The race missions are terrible since the cars handle badly (and you only get to use 1 type of vehicle for ALL the races) and are only worth doing to get the Dodge.

Arkfalls are pretty fun but only feel challenging because of the time limit, the chance of dieing when 50 people are in the same area is slim to none. The weapons don't progress through levels either (even though there are level requirements) so you can effectively use the same gun from start to finish without changing. Basically no penalty for death except being sent a short way from your objective with a 200 scrip penalty, which doesnt matter because the economy is non-existent since there is basically nothing worth buying except the dune buggy and maybe a few mods/weapons early on.

And if your playing on the xbox the micro transaction thing is a joke. 880 Defiance fake money for an outfit which is purely cosmetic. And you have to buy this fake money with microsoft fake money at 400msp = 400bits. Consider you can only buy MSP in 500/1000/2000 intervals and can only exchange into bits at 400 intervals for items that cost 880, you end up juggling two types of disney dollars and wind up with leftovers of each... and this is all without buying the matching helmet for 240bits.

Sorry for the wall of text that just seems like nerd rage, but its not, i rented this (for £5 which is nothing to cry over) and completed it today and thought i would give my honest opinion of the game. I do realise ive not mentioned the possitives, which there are, but they felt too few and far between for me to make special note of them.

So, this is what I am glad to read. It sucks then.

This is why there is no demo of the game. To get you to buy it, and then it's too late.

Yeah, no. I thought that MultiPlayer games had learnt from their mistakes in doing this. Seems the dollar still outweighs logic.

when the show is cancelled this game will not be of any interest.

I have been enjoying the game knowing the countless bugs its has, but im at the point where getting booted off every 5-10mins and the numerous glitches is too much to bear. Im glad I didnt buy the season pass, and refuse to buy any dlc till they stabilize thier servers. Ive played many MMo's on my connection so I know it's not me. Game has huge potential but I think its only a matter if time till it dies like many other failed MMO's before it..Noone seems to learn when it comes to this genre. Im truly disapponted!!
