I'm interested in this, Not sure i have played a "fps-mmo" before but i have played both tpe of gams just not in the same game so this has gotten me watching this to see how it goes.
Got a feeling this one is either gonna be really, really good or really, really bad. Its a very interesting concept and something fresh and new. Guess time will tell but i'll be keeping an eye on this one.....
A 3rd person shooter MMO? I tried F2P MMORPG and hated them, and I'm not willing to spend money on a subscription for an MMORPG. A game that is full of real action and requires player skill might do it for me, especially if factions can fight over and hold territory in a much more dynamic and meaningful way, so you can attack and capture territory at any time and it actually means something in the game.
Sci-Fi has always had some interesting new IPs for their shows. However, its always eclipsed by their horrible, horrible, acting. I just cant stand watching these mediocre actors struggle with simple lines.
A massive MP shooter already sounds certainly unique for me. But I'll probably forget about this since this game doesn't include a full fledged campaign. Still the whole project sounds ambituous and interesting, wish 'em the best.
TV series looks like it could be interesting. The game looks mediocre though, granted they're showing an early console build and it's still got 4 months till release, maybe something to keep an eye on.
Awful graphcis,awful character's movement animations (not even in ps2 age characters move so stiff ) ,the tv show looks very boring (aliens and humans living in the same place,so damn original! ,another poor rip-off of star wars),and multipayer it's a just a sad copy of better third person shooters.
@snake8304 Think about how poor the graphics would have to be to be able to run the needed character models and everything on a console. But yes it's like an ugly Planetside 2 but with single player style mmo fun also.

Looks like an interesting idea, except that chances are the tv show will air on sky and other subscription based providers in the UK, so those of us who cant afford one of those (I have more pressing needs for my money) are going to miss out.
This free 2 play ? , much prefer micro transactions rather than doing huge money dumps of $60 and feeling ripped off after my initial purchase , much prefer f2p so I can pay as I go and not get ripped off by greedy publishers such as Activision and their pay $60 to win crap.
If the game is any good then you will get people flooding to your store to buy things rather than sponging off brand recognition.
@SteamyPotatoes Ripped off or not you need to pay for things you want. I can't go and get a hoodie for free and then pay for it once I got comfy with it, why should you? If you cant afford to game then dont game. Its not a necessity like a lot of people think. I cant go on a vacation twice a year like some so should we all bitch and complain so they reduce air fair and hotel prices? Seems insane when you think about it that way right?
Also F2P will end up costing you more in the long run that is why the market has changed. Publishers can increase their revenue %300 just by changing the model. LOTR Online was a big success story when they switched.
Most devs are run by hardcore old man suits that want nothing but your money. If you think one business model is nicer than the other that just means they are doing sceamier tactics to hide the fact that you are paying more.
4 Like @SteamyPotatoes I respectfully couldn't disagree more.. f2p forces developers to make items in the store better than what can be unlocked normally.. if they don't, nobody pays for anything and the company loses money. This screws with game's balancing because they either have to make the standard weapons too crappy (which leads to most people losing interest in the game), or they make the standard weapons work well which then forces them to make their fancy store weapons completely overpowered (which gets boring). Also, since they don't have the overhead or guaranteed income of the standard game sales, they can't afford proper cheat protection (which has eventually killed F2P FPS games like Combat Arms and Blacklight), or proper amounts of servers half the time. I would much rather spend $50-$60 now and get a good game with free updates than feel like $50-$60 is getting milked out of me because I can't do well without buying the OP store items. Also, if you're into saving money, don't buy the game at $60 but wait for it to go on sale!.. If the game is F2P, they have no incentive to put on any decent sales so you are stuck paying full price for items even if the game is multiple years old.
@tushwacker "f2p forces developers to make items in the store better than what can be unlocked normally." Well it's more of a case by case basis , buying power is wrong , buying XP boosters , cosmetics and earlier weapon unlocks is perfectly fine and no one should expect to get a AAA game for free.
Tribes Ascend & Planet Side 2 system is fine and allows you to unlock everything at a slower pace for free to see if the game is for you , COD will simply take your money and not have to care about the quality of the product post launch. If a f2p game is forcing you to buy items then it's doing it wrong , if you don't have the unlocks you want then it's time to play the game and unlock stuff instead of window shopping high priced unlocks and maybe pick an XP booster up now and then ease the item / gear treadmill , by doing this your also supporting the right developers over time rather than making companies like Activision very rich for producing garbage.
However I understand gamers do not like change and this technophobia of f2p games will take a while to disappear , but it is the future of a lot of games especially on PC , would be so nice just to buy the single player or maybe a few missions from a single player game , rather than paying out the nose for a tacked on Multiplayer mode ; guess it's a case of get with the times or get left behind scenario.
But I do respect that gamers like to buy the entire game at once and I guess I like that too, so I still want it around in the case of games such Hitman , Metal Gear , Halo etc etc , but it provides a good alternative to selling your game in a thriving market , particularly on PC.

devoid of competition how about final fantasy a realm reborn but than again as good as this looks maybe its not competition,I hope this works and just isn't just cod with a generic linear quest line tact on .
I'm very interested in this but as soon as I hear "MMO", I think of extra money (and micro transactions) that I don't want to pay for after my initial purchase.
Also, what happens if I miss an episode of the tv show or don't progress on the game in parrelell with the show's plot? Can I not progress in the game's story beyond where the show currently is in the season? If I can, is going to simply spoil remaining season or will I simply be playing a campaign filled with plot holes to only be filled by waiting for the next episode of the show?
These are the main questions that I'm looking for answers to before I invest in this.
@Double_Wide It sounds like the TV show and game don't share the same plot but do share some location and characters and maybe a few major plot points.

1 Like I'm not really interested in another MMO to suck up my time. Too bad they couldn't come up with any other tie-in than a generic shooter. But I've got high hopes for the TV show.
1 Like Again, if it played like a normal third person shooter, as enjoyably as say Red Faction Guerrilla or the combat system in Mass Effect 2 this might be a good game but making it an action sci-fi MMO I just don't see it being that good.
Sounds interresting.. I like the cross platform feature. Wouldn't be surprised to see the 360 version dropping though, Microsoft seems to make it difficult to release MMOs on their console.
Relying on a TV show for the game could also be a great move or the downfall of the game...
