I'm wondering if i would be wise to get Pure Black on each world just before i finish the game and then go for Pure White on NG+?

Is this a sensible idea or should i just leave until a later playthrough.

If you want these weapons or are going for a platinum, it's a lot easier in NG:

1-1 BP Miralda. Guillotine Axe
2-2 BP Scirvir. Talisman of Beasts.
3-1 BP Lord Rydell. Phosphorescent Pole.
4-1 BP Satsuki. Hiltless.
5-2 BP Selen. Blind.

By killing all of them you can get a PWCT and can get the Friends Ring too. Also in PBWT you can get colorless demon's souls, if you need them. But they are simple to kill so you could do them anytime.

so killing those people above is all i need to do to eventually get the plat (in terms of black tendency things). Sorry to be a pain but i'm a little confused.

Pretty much it, IIRC, but you are going to need to get all of the spells and miracles for platinum as well. There is one miracle, think it's Recovery, that requires some colorless demon's souls which you get with PBWT. Like I said they are pretty easy to kill, even in NG+ and beyond.
