Dex and Str for a Pure Mage

Haven't played this game in ages. In Dark I brought up Dex and Str to 16 and 16 for my Sorcerer build in NG. For Demon's is it worth it to level up Str and Dex to around 16 each for the better weapons in mid to late game for a pure Sorcerer build? I am looking at a range weapon like scythe and mirdan hammer as an example for now and more powerful weapons later on. Thanks.

Unless wielding a bow, most dex you should need is 13 to wield the worthy weapons. That's enough for a uchi katana, winged spear, all the polearms (except the Phosphorescent Pole), and the estoc.
For polearms the most STR you will need is 14, that will also let you wield a kilij, the 2nd most high damaging curved sword (you will need 18 STR to wield the Uchi, #1), any of the piercing swords, all the one-handed hammer weapons, and the best one-hand straight sword, the knight's sword.
I would recommend 14 STR and 12 Dex to start, that gets you the mirdan hammer, winged spear, Kilij, knight's sword, and estoc.
