A)sticky (viscous) compound long bow is the strongest bow only if it's fully upgraded. It will have stat bonus "S" on dex. And it can be easily upgraded to full in your 1st playthrough whereas you'll need to consume 5 precious colorless demon souls in order to upgrade the white bow which still won't be as strong as the sticky compound long bow
B)i would say yes if you are only looking for damage yield by the weapon. winged spear due more dmg than the short spear but it's 0.5pt heavier.

Thanks man, I started a hunter after I beat 1-1 with the knight. I owned the whole board . . . so I feel pretty good about the pacing. I will have to explore more worlds now and master them while moving forward. Good luck all and happy hunting.

add to this, you can upgrade the short spear to +7 and use the lead demon soul to make it into Scarping spear
any crossbow in this game is pretty useless, at least for me.

all the pts duneman made are great tips. that was what i do as well. go to 5-1, get the blessed mace and then go to 4-1 to get all the goodies, talisman of god, uchigatana, crescent falcion, adjudicator shield, compound long bow etc. for the first half of the game the crescent falcion should keep you safe and you should also carry the blessed mace whenever you've got time to regen your HP. the 2nd of half of the game, you should try to upgrade some weapon to moon +5. for my first playthrough, i used the moon winged spear which is safe to use because you can attack while keeping your shield up and it deals decent dmg. for my new character, i used the moon uchigatana which looks very cool and i think its more powerful than the moon winged spear

Remember to keep below 50% Equip Weight if you want to roll fast, and you want to roll fast. The Ring of Great Strength under the Blue Dragon in the Dragon's Roost in 1-1 boosts equipment weight by 50% when equipped. This is handy for the Knights, who wear heavier armor.
This is the item I'm gunning for.

If that's the same thing as the ring of Herculean strength, I was also able to get that ring by giving the Jade Hair Comb I found on the level to the item keeper guy.

Go up to the level where there are a bunch of monks sittingg around in a semi circle. Look for the only one that has a lit candle in front of him. That's the monumental.
Also, don't know if it's the same for everyone, but someone left a message that said VIP right in front of him as well.

In melee combat, conserve your stamina... you need it to absorb hits with your shield as well as to dodge, so don't go all out swinging your weapon... learn to conserve your stamina so you won't be caught helpless.
If you haven't noticed, you regenerate stamina much slower when you're holding your shield up, so in combat, try to only raise your shield when you need to block or when your stamina is full.

What are the numbers (1-1, 2-1, 4-1, etc) referring to? And are there 1-2, 2-3, 4-3, etc?
