Deus Ex: Human Revolution User Review
- Difficulty:
- Easy
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Immersive"
Positives:
-Different ways to approach a area. You will always find an air vent or another route, to approach a goal. The most obvious option isn't always the best.
-The endings were thought provoking. There is no good ending or bad. Each ending had its pros and cons. You truly have to think hard on what the best choice is for humanity.
-Very immersive world. I don't know why people said this game was short (Some reviewers said they beat it in 10 hours.) I hacked every single computer and terminals I could find. Explored every single air vent and room that I had access to even if it wasn't necessary. I talked to almost everybody in a attempt to find new side quests, and read all the newspapers and ebooks I could find. I was immersed in the world. It took me 32 hrs. If you beat this game in 10 hours, you probably rushed through it.
-The art style of this game is impressive. I loved the art direction of this. I'm a cyberpunk fan and I had to say I was captivated by the cities and the cut scenes.
-Amazing soundtrack. I'm no expert on music, but I loved the soundtrack. It fits the cyberpunk theme well and I am definitley going to buy the soundtrack on iTunes.
Negatives:
-Boss fights are out of place. For a game that is about freedom and choosing how you wanna play, they're disappointing. You have to take the lethal way to kill bosses, which is disappointing for someone who focused on stealth instead of combat. Also they're aren't that difficult anyway.
-There's really no reason to use lethal takedowns. Honestly non-lethal takedowns are obviously the best. I've heard people say if you do non lethal there is a chance the enemy you took down will recover. That rarely happened to me. Also non-lethal takedowns provide more xp, and are more silent. What is the point of using lethal takedowns?!?!
-Voice acting was meh. I didn't like the voice acting that much. It felt pretty ordinary and generic to me.
-Combat is generic. Honestly stealth is the most fun and challenge you'll have with this. Regular running and gunning is boring. Guns don't have that much recoil, and the cover system is generic.
-AI can be stupid sometimes. The AI never seem to flank or throw grenades that much. Also I've had AI walk into walls and be stuck in that position forever. Oh well, makes my job easier.

A good espionnage game that brings back some good old Splinter Cell souvenirs.

Deus Ex does many things right but some significant shortfalls keep it from living up to its predecessor.
