What's wrong with it?

> Lack of character customization.

It's not that Blizzard removed allocation of stat points, it because they added no way to make your characters appearance different from others. Everyone has the same hairstyle and facial features and body type. How boring. For a 2012 game and a company as great as Blizzard - I expected more. WoW came out in 2004 and had character customization from day 1.

> PSP graphics

It's quite clear the game's engine was designed to run on a toaster so that Blizzard could sell to more than just Call of Duty hardcore gamers. Do yourself a favor, go google Untold Legends 2. It's a PSP game, compare it to this games graphics and you'll see what I mean.

which brings me to our next point

> Satisfactory gameplay.

Wait... Satisfactory? That doesn't seem bad at all. Well, actually it is. For a game as hyped as Diablo 3 and a company as big as Blizzard you'd expect more than just satisfactory. You want something to blow your mind, something to keep you intruiged for hours and screaming for more. Diablo 3 does not do that. And here's why.

> Too much time spent by Blizzard on unnecessary or non key features. Such as RMAH, CGI, cinematics, even the Diablo 3 forums, are all well done. Pity the game itself isn't. They spent more effort building up the hype to sell more when they should have been revolutionizing the genre, making the quests and storyline more diverse. Adding more classes etc.

All these things could have been worked on had they only decided to pull their fingers out of their wallets and think like artists, not businessmen.

It's an average gaming experience hyped up to be mindblowing. Go play any other dungeon crawler and it will feel the same as Diablo 3.


At the core the game has the right formula, it takes long to complete on all levels of difficulty, it's not too easy or too hard. It caters for hardcore and casual players. But the actual experience is not refined enough. The right formula for a game needs to be expanded on, to take it past that.

After 12 years all we get is satisfactory. That's not good enough.
