Are you still playing D3? The GameSpot crew reflects on what has become of Diablo III in the last month in this video feature.
agree with those who say the point is to drive people to the RMAH, there is not other reason not to make the game drop better stuff to keep you moving once you beat it on normal. For those who like to mindlessly click for no apparent reason than to sell items for gold in the game it will probably be fun. Beat it in about 8 hours and I got bored before act 1 was up in nightmare, uninstalled.
Not that it's not a fun game to play through once, but it's not like D2 with the simple skill system and no points, there just isn't anything there.
Won't be paying $60 for a blizzard game anymore between my experience with SC2 and now this.
I burned out after the first 2 weeks but enjoyed it while it lasted. Played so much =P But after getting 3 level 60s and a level 30 I had just played through the same game too many times =/ Not to mention that was right around when RMAH went online which was the nail in the coffin for my Diablo 3 experience. Still, no regrets. Was fun playing with friends. Not so much solo so if you do play try to play with other people you know =)
played through once, tried going through a second time, got boring pretty fast, not as good as the others were. to short.
Blzzard is making your "normal" games now driven more by profit than value to end user, this is not a complaint as they are a company and I am all good with business making money. Gone are the days of a game lasting 5+ years like Starcraft 1, Diablo, Diablo 2, AOE etc.
Was a pretty big let down because my expectations were so high, don't like the online full time or auctions stuff.
Average game for the market now adays, nothing special like the first 2 however.
good for you, I played the game once through and a couple skirmishes vs AI, that was about it.
Diablo 2 and AOE2 on a lan is more fun in our house.
@DarthMaximus Good for me? What are you talking about? How do you even know I play Starcraft lol. I'm just guessing SC2 to be around at least until after Blizzard releases the Protoss expansion which will be maybe 3 years for now? And then after that I imagine SC will continue as an e-sport even if the ladder where 'normal' people play becomes less popular.
bla bla bla....
ofcourse im not playing. got boring already after 2 weeks. managed to squeeze 3 weeks out of this game, then it was game over and i havent been back to play it since.
not worth the money.
D3 was RMAH'ed with crap items and on top of that it was WOW'ed. Average game right now.
In the short-term, the game is ok. Once you get to somewhere in the Hell difficulty and realize the loot dropping is all crap and what you're wearing isn't cutting it anymore, the real driving force of the game becomes apparent... the real money auction house.
I , as well all my irl friends and most of my net friends ( except 2 ) went back to what we used to play...
D3 as a singple experience was nice , specially for diablo fans but as an online , addictive experience ... IT FAAAAAILED sooo bad...noone could predict...
Imho , Jay Wilson failed. Even if game became fastest pc game ever...i strongly beleive now that is also the fastest decline pc online action RPG ever.
basically the bottom line is, if you like grinding, this one is for you... grinding is cool, makes some people oblivious to the whole `` lets rent out the game to all the suckers out there, so we can buy the next limo, hahaha`` ActiBlizzvisionard attitude! Yeah, its a win if you enjoy the pointlessness of a grindfest and No, if you enjoy games for what they are and should be, time well spent... Period!
rather disppointing to see most of the Gamespot crew to be such gear and statwhores...
it comes down to one thing... Blizzard wants to make more money on D3 with the online sales of in-game items. If it were not for that they would not keep screwing with the game all the time and pissing everyone off. GREED is the issue here!!! trying to milk the customer for even more.
i thought d3 was going to be more like sacred 2 and d3 wasnt even close to being as good.
fuck me... no one is talking about the game... its all about stuff and gear and more stuff and more farming and more gear... shit like this made me quit WoW, and here it is again, disguised as Diablo 3... its nerds and geeks like them that are ruining gaming... im sooo sick of this... Gamespot, you failed, go live in Silicon valley from the money Blizz and Kottick sends you every month to sugarcoat their mediocre releases... I`ve said it already, I`ll say it again, Blizz used to be one of the best, now its mediocre at best, they just can afford to spend huge sums on ``polish`` and ads, all the bling makes ppl so blind, they fail to realise, they`ve been ripped off...
Nah, this game is a huge pile of JayWilson with the latest patch. In fact, every time they touch the game they JayWilson something else up completely!
I thank goodness they finally responded to one of my refund tickets on one of the last days, otherwise the JayWilson would have hit the fan.
nope, latest patch is completely mess up the game to being NOT FUN!
I know at least 41 people(friends, family, co-workers) who just quit the game as of last night after the patch got released.
Uh-huh, whatever lowbrow controversy that appeals to the foaming mouthed haters it takes to get those clicks, eh GS?
Well..didn't watch vid..and didn't have as much time to play as I would liked to have. (My daughter was born on the 1st of march)I played a total of THREE times on my barb..and I'm level 48 in NIGHTMARE...act 3 at that..(did I mention I was playing single player? my friends joined to help kill the butcher in norm..they died..)They need to add content and make a banging expansion for this game..(D2 had the best expansion I've played on any game..period)This game is EXTREMELY too easy..maybe it's just me..Been into the series since d1..still play d2 on occasion..Since I'm only in NM at the moment..havent had many "godly" drops yet..had like 2 legendary items drop both were "diggler" like in usefulness. (and I still say unique items..like in d2.. ,.|.. Blizzard)Like many others..d3 is a bit of a let-down for me..I'll play it some more.if I get chance..
Still playing? "I WANT TO, BUT THE SERVER IS ON MAINTENANCE" What a great game...........Great, Really Great.......Really F*#%ing game.........12 years!!!! OMG!!!!.....
I just fought a flying triangle in sword & sworcery, and the battle was FAR more exiting, challenging and rewarding than killing any boss in diablo 3
@ferna1234 Proof that hyperbole can be a serious crutch for the simple minded right here, folks.
personally, I like this game. Got hacked and lost my gold, but the authenticator seems to have cured that, but each time I play it and with each different class, the game is different. It is shorter than D2, but I think they did that so u can get thru the game quicker since there are 5 classes to try. But I like the fact that there are different objectives, monsters, and people to run into as go thru the game each time. Keeps it fresh and interesting. And if no one here see that, then makes me wonder if u have really gone thru the game more than once.
Is D3 better then D2? NO. But it is a worthy followup.
I tend to see it like Kuris Seid. I didn't bother buying this one. What Kurtis says plus the other bs (always online sp), I was very comfortable with choosing to sit this one out. Like that one producer said (forgot the name) there's a lot of loot games out there (and most aren't $60!!).
i am at lvl 55, and i think i am done. never really want to go back, not even for mutiplayer... the auction house is pretty broken in my opinion, Blacksmith, jellwecraft is a joke, no point of grinding for it cause there is always better/cheaper stuff on auction house. Game play is great, but not worth the play through 4 times... i am in the middle of Hell, and I just felt continue playing is waste my time and my life.
yeah, yeah, Diablo 3 is better than Diablo 2, whatever....all i know is this, I played D2 for four years.....can you see yourself playing this for that long? 1 month and some people have enough....and you can not compare graphics 12 years ago.....what a friking genius......
I think the game is great for what it is. There are mundane details that still need to be fixed, but overall a worthy experience. I believe a lot of people are criticizing this game too hard based on "what it was supposed to be". This is not WoW or SCII it is D3 and needs to be played like Diablo.
The game requires no skill to play. You just mindlessly kill demons for random loot. The loot is the biggest let down for me, since legendary items are so weak and the yellows are so random. Every time I find a yellow I know the AH will have something better. So now the game became a gold farming type of game more so then finding loot. I am so bored of the repetitive game play for nothing. I don't see a specific piece of gear that I aim to get in like most games. Now I have a goal of reach 2 million gold to buy something on the AH. I find this method of game play so boring and not fun. There is no loot in the game. Just random yellow. And then don't get me started on the demons, champions, and rares. I am ready to set my hair on fire.
They are going to buff the legendaries a lot and with this new patch the elites and champions will no longer spawn with unbalanced affixes: i.e. Mortar plus jailer, molten+plague, arcane + frozen. And it DOES take still to dodge these affixes if ur a melee character that is. and SOme enemies like the dark beserker's overhead smash needs to be dodge as well.
Ya'll are crazy this game is great and better than D2 in almost everyway. D2 has slightly better story and more length, but the character customization is better, the gear is better, the graphics are better and the combat is better in D3. Inferno Act 2 is insanely too hard and the drop rates aren't good enough in Act 1 inferno to prepare you. Guess what that is being fixed and patched as i write this so if you don't like the game don't play it, but I cannot see any reason why this game isn't worlds better than D2. D2 pigeon holed your class into a build that you had to start and the beginning of the game and you could never deviate from it. How is is better to get to level 70 and realize that you do not have the strength to equip current level gear. You guys are wrong and are blizzard haters. I think the new patch might be nerfing the difficulty a littel too much, but I've had an absolute blast with this game and i've really only played one class. If you don't like this game then I must question your credibility and opinion on any game. It is not perfect, but certainly a more satisfying experience than D2. Woohoo Mephisto runs. Oh you didn't put enough vitality and str in ur 20's to survive at level 60 sorry reroll and start a new character, on what planet is that better. Everyone is a bunch of whiny babies go back and play your game from 1997
@bryjoered2007 wall of crap,, that's all there is to this statement...
All you said has already been debated over and over. D3 sucks, deal with it.
@bryjoered2007 different people have different opinion and if you love this game as much as you say I must question your credibility and opinion on any game. See what I did there.
@stan_boyd The problem is he made perfectly valid points based on facts and logic, unlike some people...
